  1. What do you think? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Quebec-Nordiques-Colorado-Avalanche-Peter-Forsberg-Rare-Jersey-Authentic-56-XL/251409819062?_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D18844%26meid%3D3759913144907463455%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D8532%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D181289629570%26
  2. I was actually going to suggest Sun Devil Stadium. Like you said, actually outdoors, closer to the population center, and actually bigger capacity-wise than UoP stadium (and roughly equal when UoP brings out all those extra seats for the Fiesta Bowl/Super Bowl) And probably better sightlines for an outdoor game with how much closer the seats are to the field than at UoP. But with UoP right next to the Jobber, I have no doubt they'd do it there if they did it, if only for convenience and the stupidity concerns you pointed out.
  3. Eh, don't get too bent up about it. This rectangle pool at the top of the picture is "Lake Glendale"
  4. Not really, we skipped right through and it's not something I thought about looking at until after the fact. All the "Westgate Entertainment" lots were filled up though. And there aren't enough spots in those lots to accommodate everyone that's at Westgate and going to the Coyote game (or concerts. These pay lots are supposed to be for all arena events). So people obviously have to and did use the Coyote specific lots. (And the Outlet mall parking was jam packed too. idk if that was because of people actually at the outlets, or more people taking free parking.) But there lies the rub. On a Coyote game night or concert night, people really just can't go to Westgate to do anything else. If the regular free lots are filled up, the only available lots would be the pay event lots, and if I'm a general citizen that just wants to go to the movies or Buffalo Wild Wings or the Yard House or whatever, you're not going to go. Or you have to organize your activities around avoiding the event times. Basically, as we've said for the entirety of this whole ordeal, putting an arena in a strip mall is a bad idea. Or at least putting an arena in a strip mall and not figuring out how you're going to charge for parking from the get go.
  5. Not a damn thing stopping you from going to the inner "Westgate Entertainment" lots. And if memory serves, aren't the Coyotes Westgate Entertainment? Yeah I'm not paying $15 for parking or $20 for premium Lot G (or the $12/$15 pre-paid) when I can park closer for free. Nice job, guys. (Also, map not to scale. This place is not big at all.)
  6. I'm interested to see how much money they're making off of parking. They made a huge deal about it being this untapped revenue source. I'm interested in seeing how well they're doing on that front.Fun Fact: I parked in a non-game-designated lot right up front at Westgate for the Ducks game. Free of charge. Unless you just blindly follow the signs, there's nothing forcing you to the game lots.
  7. Oh, they'll be in the current Ducks colors/style. I have no doubt. But it'd be nice if there was some way to note that Teemu and Jiggy were both Mighty Ducks as well and had huge contributions in their Mighty years. Maybe split it down the middle or something? Half eggplant-teal/half black-gold-orange? That might look cheesy, but I think it'd be nice. Neidermayer was a Mighty Duck too for a short period, but since it was just the one year, it'd be weird if they gave him the Mighty treatment as well. Like this? (Obviously, I'd hope they'd do a better job of matching it up, but whatever. My rough concept.)
  8. If I had to guess, I'd say either on the other side of the arena or a couple rungs in front of those banners. But they'll probably put it right next to the other banners (and hopefully rearrange the whole thing. If I had my choice, it'd go #8, 2003 WC, 2007 SC, 2007 WC, 2007 PD, 2013 PD. Keep it all together and in some organized fashion). It's a good question. If they do hang it off on its own, it's like it'll be single for long. #27 will go up shortly after that and #35 won't be far behind.
  9. Yeah I definitely agree with that, that's why I said I wish the logos were a little more prominent like on the Mighty banner. Otherwise it's just Impact Bold text on a banner. Same reason I don't like those Capitals banners above (along with taking away the bronze/blue/black era, which I liked. Represent your history, dammit) There's just nothing to them. Text on a banner. Wow. Unfortunately, they are what they are and we'll probably be stuck with them for a bit, so like you, the very least they could organize them in some logical fashion. Like what happens if they do end up winning something this year? Where do you want to put these things? Just a division or conference banner would push the Cup banner slightly off center. If they get a division and a conference, they'll probably throw them on the outsides and jumble the dates further. If they get all three again, I guess they'd slap the other two on the ends and put the second Cup in the middle. Or they could just go ahead and make sense of them. That'd be swell.
  10. Despite only a 10 year history of having banners in the Honda Center, the Ducks have had a fair amount of changes. After the 2003 Cup Final run, the Ducks put up a 1993 inaugural year and 2003 "Mighty Decade" banner before they raised the 2003 Western Conference Champion banner on opening night in 2003. I think this was mostly to make the one Western banner not look lonely at the time, but whatever. I was 13 I was cool with it then. Then when Brian Burke came in 2005, he wanted any of that "Disney crap" taken down. So the Mighty Decade banner came down but the 1993 inaugural season and Western Champs banners stayed. Then in 2007, the Ducks won the Pacific Division, Western Conference, and Stanley Cup and raised those three banners. The Stanley Cup banner went in the middle at the direction of then-captain Scott Neidermayer because that's what they did in New Jersey to show its the centerpiece and the ultimate focus. Then the Ducks won the Pacific Division in 2013 and there were more changes. The 1993 inaugural banner was taken down, the 2007 Pacific Division banner was changed from white to black and the 2013 division banner used the "D" instead of "Ducks" and was placed on the opposite side of the lineup just to keep the 2007 Cup banner centered, creating a weird lineup. I think they should have either grouped them by type (Cup, Conf, Div) or chronologicially, but this makes no sense. Overall, I wish the "Ducks" banners were done more like the "Mighty Ducks" banner(s) with the large logo in the middle. This would have worked great if they just used the D, but the full "Ducks" isn't tall enough and so it's marginalized on the three 2007 banners in favor of large text, almost like it was just shoved on there. Then in 2013 they kept the same style, but used the "D" so now that also looks slightly marginalized. I also think the accomplishment should be larger than the year, because that's whats' important, but whatever.
  11. That and those stupid penny-auction sites. Go ahead and make whatever connections you want between those two facts and all-glorious Commissioner Bettman.
  12. Uh, so, the NHL Network just advertised Mike Smith Bobblehead Night for this Saturday's game in Glendale on NHL Tonight. And not some misplaced commercial, right after the second run through of the Ducks/Yotes highlights. What the hell? I thought they didn't own the team anymore and now they're advertising game tickets? Come the on.
  13. Still, it is a team they've played in the playoffs recently. (And I was at those games. They did sell out amazingly enough. And that was after they dispatched the Blackhawks.) But man, seriously? 7400? That is beyond pathetic. Those that have frequented these threads know that I've tried to defend this team and fanbase in many different ways. There are no more excuses. I have no way to try and spin this thing. If the arena was downtown or in Scottsdale, would it be better? Yeah sure, it'd be better, but now I'm really not sure how much better. Now that we've dipped to seven freaking thousand people... I just, I have no words. I'm sorry hockey fans of Phoenix. Enjoy these next five years of NHL hockey, because it's all you're going to get. I'm sure you'll love your new ECHL team in time. And for whatever comparison you can make, the Suns drew 17000+ for their Wednesday opener vs Portland and 14000+ Friday vs Utah.
  14. Don't they still have an "ironclad" lease with the arena? Isn't that part of the reason the Panthers have never really entered the relocation discussions?
  15. As one of the few people to be a multiple time patron of Jobing.com Arena and Coyotes games... Yeah, even when the game parking was free, it was still stupidly easy to avoid the "game lots" and just park in the far more convenient normal spots. Oh, this is truly hilarious.
  16. BTW, just for everyone's lulz, this is the Coyotes marketing campaign for this season:
  17. You cannot be ing serious... --- The funniest/stupidest/confoundingest/NHLest thing is that Seattle is still going to get an expansion team out of all of this...
  18. Growing up in Orange County and living in Peoria/Glendale for almost two years... Yeah, it's not even close to being the same thing. Glendale is trying to be the Anaheim to Phoenix's Los Angeles, but there just isn't the anchor to it. There isn't any sort of self-sustaining drive to it. It has a state-owned stadium, a failing strip mall/arena combo, a money-losing Spring Training facility, an Air Force Base, and a kitschy "Old Town". None of that is exactly Disneyland.
