I really like that idea! I actually had a modern look for the jerseys so putting a modern-looking helmet fit perfectly, especially because the helmet replicates the face/head and the jerseys replicate the wings

    • In addition to the goggles, I also added eyes and feathers similar to Kent State's bird helmet
    • Made the facemask white to match the white beak in the logo

    Thanks again for the idea!

    Absolutely nailed it

  2. I don't like that change for Lewis. I think of a "flyer" as someone who flies. This new logo being a plane doesn't fit that for me.

Also, I don't really get "athletic logo" vibe from it. I see more "corporate air freight" logo more than anything.

I'd be curious to know why they retired Bedcheck Charlie.

Revolutionaries is a bit of a mouthful but it’s not bad. It’s too long for uniforms, but Revs is a good shorthand. Generals would have been a layup, though. In fact, before all this came up, I didn’t even know GW was the Colonials. I guess I always assumed they were the Generals.

It's not too long for uniforms if you design the wordmark properly.

Thanks! Here's the complete team brand sheet with the updated primary logo design.

Thanks, good to know there might be interest for more in this series; I'll keep this in mind for something to maybe go back and update once I finish up my 8 teams. I will say my next team- the New York Stars- will actually include a wordmark component in its main logo.

I couldn't find much info on wordmarks for most of the WFL teams so it would be less updating them and more creating them like with the secondary logos. I don't mind this of course, but it wasn't my main focus on this project starting out. Something to perhaps look forward to though once the main work is done.

Thanks again for everyone who checked this out and contributed feedback!

I love the idea of the claws under the collar. But, if you're going to do that, the best way might be to either take the ones you have now and put them in the logo, or take the ones from the logo and put them under the collar. No sense having two different claws.

  5. For a pub trivia team, the original, silly logo is fantastic. I love the question marks in the crown. You did a great job there conveying what this is and what it's for.

As far as the other logos, I do think they're fantastic, but I feel like the one not in the badge could stand to be a little wider.

So many colleges have great team names though and are strongly associated with the school

    Longhorns

    Beavers

    Sun Devils

    Lobos

    Volunteers

    Nittany Lions

    Wolverines

    Badgers

    Buckeyes

    Tar Heels

    Blue Devils

    Demon Deacons

    Seminoles

    Yellow Jackets

    Jayhawks

    Hoosiers

    Hawkeyes

    Cornhuskers

    Golden Gophers

    Terrapins

Scarlet Knights (and kudos to the Big 10 for arguably the most unique set of team names)

And there are others, extant and no longer in use:

Tufts Jumbos (from the stuffed hide of Jumbo the elephant that P.T. Barnum brought to campus)

Williams Ephs (short for Ephraim Williams, the founder of the college)

Webster (MO) Gorloks (from the school's location on the corner of Gore and Lockwood Avenues)

UCF used to be the Citronauts (referencing space exploration and orange farming)

FIU used to be the Sunblazers (based on its location in sunny Miami)

I'm sure there's more, but those are just off the top of my head.
