This would make more sense (and couldn't be more obvious) for MWC divisions: Pacific Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV Mountain Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah State, Wyoming -But of course Boise wants to bitch because it prefers to play more of the west coast teams.

A possible 16 team Mountain West: Coast Division BYU Fresno State Hawaii Nevada San Diego State San Jose State UNLV Utah State Mountain Division Air Force Boise State Colorado State Houston New Mexico SMU UTEP Wyoming

I can't see Gonzaga & St. Mary's making those cross country treks in basketball and vice versa with the other schools coming west. Traveling in basketball is a totally different animal than football.

Adding the east coast service academies would keep some of the "prestige" associated with the top-level academic institutions in the ACC, plus would give a presence (though muted) in both the NYC and Washington/Baltimore area markets.
