  1. Two clubs in Seattle would be fantastic for the League!
  2. Almost nothing there that is off by more then a mile or two from what I have for distance between teams, (for instance they have the distance between Miami and Seattle being 2722.9 miles, I have it as 2719.8 miles and that's the furthest distance between two NFL teams that exists) but that wouldn't account for a difference that large so I think you just made an addition mistake. From the total you have my guess is you left out a team like the Panthers or the Titans. Both of them would account for that 3700 mile difference between our two numbers. Good catch! I left out Tennessee when summing Conference 2. The total number is 110,860.
  3. No, I didn't consider the curvature of the Earth. However, I found the travel distance between NFL teams from here: Sport Map World
  4. Made minor tweaks to your proposal: Conference 1 stayed the same. Removed STL from Conference 2 and replaced with CAR Removed CAR from Conference 3 and replaced with PIT Removed PIT from Conference 4 and replaced with STL Conference 1 Arizona Dallas Denver Kansas City Oakland San Diego San Francisco Seattle Conference 2 Atlanta Carolina Houston Jacksonville Miami New Orleans Tampa Bay Tennessee Conference 3 Baltimore Buffalo New England New York Giants New York Jets Philadelphia Pittsburgh Washington Conference 4 Chicago Cincinnati Cleveland Detroit Green Bay Indianapolis Minnesota St. Louis Total Mileage: 110,860
  5. Washington Capitals - Followed them since 2006. They were bad then, however, had and exceeded potential to become a relevant sports team in the DMV. Plus, had some guy named Ovechkin who helped make this team worth watching for awhile. They need to rekindle that spark. Washington Nationals - Fan since 2005. Great that DC has baseball again, however, the Nats have played some awful baseball for a few seasons. However, last season was promising and 2012 D.C. United - I enjoy watching soccer, however, I am more concerned about losing this club to Baltimore or elsewhere. New York Giants - My mother is a die-hard fan and it's great to talk to her about the performance of the team. Ryan Newman - The man typically has the fast car in qualifying. He ran consistently this year and had a heated feud with JPM. It also helps that he's on Tony Stewart's team. New Zealand All Blacks - Been a fan of their style of rugby since visiting New Zealand in 1999.
  6. I'm in and hope to post something by Christmas. Does one need to stick with the four conference, eight team format?
  7. The ring has the correct Bolts logo on it as Tampa Bay did not change their uniforms last season. Starting this season, the new logo and uniforms, unveiled earlier in the year, are now official.
  8. Has there ever been an MLB stadium that supported two teams simultaneously? I wonder if someplace like DC, Atlanta or LA could add the Rays in an extant park. There many obvious obstacles to any of those cities, and scheduling would be a nightmare, but I'm just wondering if there's precedence to that kind of arrangement. The Yankees shared Shea Stadium with the Mets during the 1974 and 1975 seasons while Yankees Stadium (the old one) was renovated.
  9. Not as long as Peter Angelos owns the Orioles. That's exactly why I would want the Nats in the AL.
  10. Just out of curiosity, would it be feasible for the current version of the Washington Nationals to switch from the National League to the American League?
  11. When was the last time the Yankees or Red Sox had a flat-out miserable year? The Yankees haven't had a losing record since 1992, and the Red Sox' last sub-.500 season was in 1997. With their resources, unless a hard salary cap and floor is instituted, they're not going to stop competing anytime soon. The Rays... well, they'll go as far as the farm system will take them. A few bad drafts, and I'll be watching miserable losing baseball again. It's a bad year when the Yankees don't win the World Series.
  12. The Blue Jackets and Penguins are a legitimate rivalry?
  13. NHL 2012-13 East: Boston Bruins Buffalo Sabres Montreal Canadiens New Jersey Devils New York Islanders New York Rangers Ottawa Senators Toronto Maple Leafs South: Carolina Hurricanes Columbus Blue Jackets Florida Panthers Philadelphia Flyers Pittsburgh Penguins Tampa Bay Lightning Washington Capitals Midwest: Chicago Blackhawks Dallas Stars Detroit Red Wings Minnesota Wild Nashville Predators St. Louis Blues Winnipeg Jets Pacific: Anaheim Ducks Calgary Flames Colorado Avalanche Edmonton Oilers Los Angeles Kings Phoenix Coyotes San Jose Sharks Vancouver Canucks
  14. Although I slightly prefer your Option 2; both of your options are just too damn crazy, jus2damcrazey.
  15. Columbus will eventually move to the East when they become the reincarnated Quebec Nordiques. Somehow Bettman will continue to prop up the Panthers in Sunrise, just like he's doing with the Coyotes in Glendale. Got to maintain Conference balance, right? OITGDNHL.
  16. I am amused by Magnus' pointless NFL realignment idea; however, he may have had inspiration from Iggy (see fifth option).
  17. Fixed it. Okay, a much needed geographically return to divisional alignment before 2002. Fixed again.
  18. For the NBA, it's at least mentioned on ESPN.
  19. This might be a tough decision based on the St. Louis - Chicago rivarly, but I would swap Milwaukee for Chicago Cubs.
  20. Wisconsin and Iowa will be placed in separate divisions beginning in the 2011 Season.
  21. From a business aspect, LeBron was smart to leave Cleveland for Miami.
  22. The Big Ten = The Trillion Dollar Conference Pac-10/12/14/16/etc. = The $750 Billion Dollar Conference The Big XII = The $500 Billion Dollar Conference
  23. Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State to Pac-10; Texas A&M is torn between Pac-10 and SEC. Source
  24. With the purported "super Conferences" being formed, does this mean an end to the upper echelon football programs padding their records by taking on the Football Championship Subdivision programs during the season?
