  1. Stewart Mandel has gone on record on The Audible podcast that team specific writers were coming to The All American. They've already have writers for Michigan, Michigan State, and the Bay Area college teams.
  2. Get it, but only at a discount. The lowest price I know about is $36 for the first year, which is 60% off. Also why you get access the everything, don't give them a lot of favorite teams as they'll flood your inbox. Unsubscribe from alerts too.
  3. I cannot talk about the Xbox situation, but the ESPN app after the ESPN+ introduction has been poor. The updated app was really good but it seems overloaded now.
  4. CUSA reportedly turned down $24M from Liberty in 2016
  5. No. It's a separate service with content not available on WatchESPN app.
  6. Comcast to drop Big Ten Network from non-B1G states. Will continue to be carried in Illinois, Indiana, Maryland/DC, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Note: Iowa and Nebraska aren't be served by Comcast. And New York isn't listed, but Spectrum and Altice are dominant in NYC. https://mobile.twitter.com/BFQuinn/status/984540460835274754
  7. To piggyback on what LMU aid, there is still more money available in the WCC even with the renegotiation in Gonzaga's favor. NCAA tournament shares specifically since Gonzaga gave them a Final Four appearance last year, so there are five more years of $8M to the conference. While St. Mary's doesn't make the tournament ever year, if they do get in, they typically win and earn an additional share. The Big West isn't that successful. Plus. the WCC is basically San Jose and north while the Big West is the southern part of the state.
  8. At least you didn't tell us that the A-10 wants Loyola-Chicago, or that the CAA wants UMBC now. But the MWC claimed six universities have been subject of expansion. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/aztecs/sd-sp-gonzaga-mountain-west-sdsu-20180228-story.html MWC tv contract runs through 2020, but if they choose to go all-digital, what's the incentive for Gonzaga but for the multiple bid conference option?
  9. I did subscribe for The Athletic for a year, I really like it, but this isn't sustainable. http://awfulannouncing.com/athletic/the-athletic-raises-another-20-million-plans-to-double-staff-expand.html Going from 120 employees to 300+ by the end of the year and expanding to 45 markets? Granted, they don't have to worry about real estate in each city, but that's a lot of salaries.
  10. FOX, or what's left of it after the RSN sale to ESPN, is totally all in on the NFL long term after getting Thursday Night Football
  11. The Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961 prohibits pro football games on Friday nights and Saturdays from the second Friday in September to the second Saturday in December.
  12. BBTV, Look to the French. The stadium in Lille has a retractable roof, like the Arizona Cardinals, but moving half the grass also reveals hidden seating for an arena configuration. https://www.johndesmond.com/blog/design/lilles-grand-stadium/
  13. Oh Happy Day! Today is Mike Francesa's final show on WFAN. No more of this...
  14. Forbes sets the mm market like a Realtor, no more no less (most of the time as the franchises are so limited) Whose "non-hockey" business is NHL better? We know the Board of Governors hate Quebec's Videotron, but is Tillman Fertitta's mediocre casual dining empire(HOU) or Bruckheimer's TV/movie business (SEA) better?
  15. Cal State-Bakersfield and UCSD to the Big West. http://gorunners.com/news/2017/11/27/general-csu-bakersfield-accepts-invitation-to-join-big-west-conference.aspx
  16. With signing the USNA, the NHL is to play games at the other service academies. http://m.navysports.com/m/genrel/052917aaa.html Not even most homeowners in New Tampa now remember that Flyers/Lightning series.
  17. True as this was part of the university's statement in 2016: And unlike Ann Arbor being less than an hour from downtown Detroit, as stated previously, State College is much further away from a major city. But like most colleges between Christmas and New Years, the campus is 95% shut down. Regardless of a bowl game, campus facility staff isn't on the clock, yet for the union guys who will get holiday pay for sitting. Michigan asked and received for $3M in rent for use of Michigan Stadium for 31 days (add another $1M from the lockout the season prior). http://www.annarbor.com/sports/regents-approve-use-of-michigan-stadium-for-2013-nhl-winter-classic/ UM also was granted a one-day liquor license for non-suites at Michigan Stadium, which gave them $650K in additional revenue. It probably doesn't help that Pegula is Penn State's hockey benefactor as opposed to Ed Snider, Ron Burkle, or that legislators won't grant them (or their concessionaire) a liquor license for Beaver Stadium
  18. So 90+ minutes from Chicago and little chance of ride share drivers. At least Buffalo/Orchard Park was a suburb and Ann Arbor was much closer to more commerce. http://www.und.com/sports/m-hockey/spec-rel/111817aaa.html
  19. https://apnews.com/58402a46bd564f45bbaca4f160654660/Rockets-owner-Fertitta-interested-in-NHL-team-in-Houston
  20. It's not like the conference members as a whole are. Savannah State is moving back to Division II by 2019. SC State has been on the brink of closing for years even with debt forgiveness from the state. Bethune-Cookman has debt issues of their own which came to light this summer after the president resigned and they've borrowed from their endowment in recent years. Same problems at Howard.
  21. And Doug Gottlieb wanted folks to know that before his comments regarding DeAndre Hopkins. I won't cross post the same words, but I could for a post in the NFL thread. http://thebiglead.com/2017/10/27/doug-gottlieb-deandre-hopkins-isnt-smart-enough-to-get-nuance-of-bob-mcnair-quote-audio/
  22. Bob McNair isn't getting a Christmas card from the Houston chapters of the NAACP or La Raza this December. You know a few owners, like the Jerrys (Jones and Richardson) and Martha Firestone Ford, are glad he took one for the cause. Someone likely told Jed York to stfu too.
  23. While he's gained financial success from first the paper, then the blog(s), Portnoy has been afforded a goid education, but really isn't very bright. Heck, upon getting the Chernin money, he bought a race horse, gambles heavily and tries to flaunt a lifestyle towards his cis, wasp fanboys. He'll go broke within a decade. https://thinkprogress.org/barstool-sports-sexism-30cee73eccc4/
  24. Richard Deitsch ranked his top 25 play-by-play broadcasters His top 5: 5- Mike Tirico 4- Ian Eagle 3- Mike Breen 2- Al Michaels 1-Doc Emrick
