  1. You know, the easy answer is Impact, but it doesn't just jive with me. Of course, my eye for fonts is well-nigh to useless, but here you go, ID away.

Sometimes the easiest answer is the right one. Impact, it is.

  2. The font the Buffalo Bison use is called Serpentine, and it ain't free.

I thought Serpentine was more square (although the corners still weren't sharp) than what the Bisons use, gordie. Isn't Serpentine what the Ottawa Senators used to use on their red and black jerseys before this season?

  3. Does anyone have the new canucks font? the ones used for the Names on the back and the #'s....can't seem to find it anywhere.

It's Agency FB Bold ... if you snoop around some of the free font sites, you should be able to find it.

  4. Well, I can't post a new topic for some reason, so I'll stick it here and hope that someone notices. The New Orleans Voodoo logo is placed in the inactive page for AFL logos, but the team is active this year. They've got a game against the Georgia Force this weekend. The Nashville Kats are on both pages (one team ending in 2000 and the other starting up in 2006 or something), but the Voodoo are only listed under inactive.

I would have posted this somewhere else or e-mailed directly, but that wasn't an option.

Two posts up from yours ...

I have no idea where to put this question, so this seemed the most logical place. Why is it I can't start a new thread. I know I am new here, so does that have anything to do with it? Do I need to have a certain amount or replies before I am allowed to start a new thread? I get an error message everytime I have tried, and even when I tried to send a PM to one of the Admins I got the same message. I looked throug hthe help files, but I didn't see anything about being resticted from posting new threads. So can someone please help me?

I think you have to post 2 posts in other members threads until you are able to post your own thread. This is in place to thwart spammers from posting their own thread immediately

  5. banco is close, glenn, but not on the money - i have a feeling it's a modified version that's custom for the rush

Yeah, fair enough. Looking at the photos alouettesfan posted and the sample I posted, there are differences between in the 2 and 4. I'd bet the 3 is different as well.

  6. Sorry to be a pain but can anyone help me out with the following:

    power_on.jpg

    The closest font to DIMENSION

    UPS%20logo.jpg

    The closest font to UPS.

    Thanks :D

Dimension = Eurose WideHeavy or Eurostile Bold Extended. Should be easily found for free.

UPS = Dax (probably bold). Not so easily found for free. You will likely have to pay for it.

  7. OK, This is probably a stupid question, but...... I am trying to do my first football uniform concept. I was wondering how you guys get the logos onto the template and warp them to look good on the 3-D helmet?

Actually, this is something I find easier to do in PhotoShop.

    - Make sure your helmet and logo are on different layers and that the logo is resized to about how big you want it on the helmet.

    - Rotate the logo 20 degrees (depending on which way the helmet is facing) and drag it up into the to left (or top right is the helmet is facing left) corner of your canvas.

    - Use the Spherize filter (Filter -> Distort -> Spherize...). You may have to cancel and drag the logo around a few times to get it exactly how you want it.

    - Adjust the position of the logo on the helmet and then flatten the layers.

  8. vcx: Yikes! I don't know that particular font ? my guess is that it has been heavily customized ? but perhaps a good place to start would be Rosewood.

lilg: I've seen that one a few times. I'm pretty sure I got it on a free font site as Moorgate DB. Might be a little bolder than what you posted, but same basic idea.

  9. I am looking for the name of the typeface used for the following:

    Cincinnati Bengals' numerals and nameplates

The University of Arizona Mens' Basketball numerals

Kohl's "15% Savings for using Kohl's Card" campaign

The closest I have found using all the search technology know of is the Noga family.

As you can see, it's not exactly the same as the typeface shown in the images below. The tell-tale character will be the "1" as it has that unique serif. I need to buy this typeface, but I first need to know the name of it.

    Bengals (names and numerals)

    051101.jpg

    Arizona (numerals)

    FF014389018617-l.jpg

    Kohl's (the green headline text)

    D_edffb.jpg

I think that's one of the Engschrift or Mittelschrift families. Not many are available for free, but I think I did find one of them once. PM me if you want me to e-mail it to you.

  10. How do you download a font and make it usable?  Whenever I download one I get a box that shows the font used saying "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" but I never know where to go from there.

    Mac or PC?

    I have PC, Windows XP.

I haven't worked in Windows for a while, but I believe that if you take the font file and drag it (or otherwise copy it) into C:/Windows/Fonts, that should do the trick. I know in 98SE, you could go into the start menu to Settings and open up Control Panel, and find the fonts folder there as well; might be worth checking out.
