  1. Boise State is basically zero on the academic scale.
  2. You need someone to want to take you first. Rutgers being utterly inept historically at sports and the general lack of interest as a result in NJ has them looking in from the outside. Their only hope is that Notre Dame decides to leave and Rutgers rides their coat tails. Rutgers could very well wind up in the ACC attached to UConn. They kind of balance each other; UConn is good athletic school, but not academically, and Rutgers is the exact opposite.
  3. From Twitter: Premature Expansion: Big 12 offering and then pulling out on West Virginia.
  4. And now, Pitino lobbying for additions of Memphis, Temple to Big East. Kind of odd that he's doing this, with Louisville being heavily considered for the Big XII.
  5. The Big Leftovers Conference The Conference of Forgotten Schools The Conference That Will Mount the Orange Bowl The NFC West
  6. Dude, what the hell are we gonna do when this is all over?
  7. GabeDeArmond and Dave_Matter are the Missouri guys and GSwaim is a Big XII guy. Then they often retweet other guys who follow closely though I haven't personally followed them since I end up seeing them anyway. And evidently there's some talks of Notre Dame joining the Big XII for everything but football. Doesn't seem of high likelihood, probably just ND looking for a way out of the Big East.
  8. I wouldn't really go by espn until you have multiple other sources reporting it. They tend to be behind, and also mess up the information. I follow 3-4 guys on Twitter who cover the Big XII, one of them is with the Columbia Tribune and another runs powermizzou.com. The other guys are in Oklahoma and somewhere in Big XII country, but when they all report the same thing, I find it to be pretty accurate.
  9. I've been hearing that the 27-month waiting period is becoming less of a problem for all the departing schools. I think that's one of the reasons for all the immediate expansion and merger talks coming from the Big East. They know they're screwed if they don't get some other schools to join pretty quickly.
  10. Latest: Mizzou decision to go to the SEC could be in coming days with a formal announcement in 2-3 weeks, a lot like A&M, where a "release" stated they were accepted into the SEC and then a week or two later the formal announcement that they would officially join the SEC in July 2012. Expected to be about the same case scenario for Mizzou. Also hearing that West Virginia will be accepted into the Big XII within 24-48 hrs when Mizzou leaves. Don't know for certain if they mean from now, from when Mizzou actually announces they're leaving or what. But seems WVU is for sure joining the Big XII and furthering along the decimation of the Big East.
  11. From multiple sources on Twitter: Mizzou's Chancellor abstained from any voting that regarded the future of the Big 12, as did aTm's who phoned into the meetings. Says some things to finalize but the move is eminent and seems there's no "hail Mary" the Big 12 can throw to keep Mizzou around. Oh and they said anybody hoping for the Big Ten can let go. It ain't happening.
  12. Everyone I follow on Twitter that cover the Big 12 are still saying they're gone. Might be some finalization of some things that have to be done.
  13. Going from some Twitter reports, BYU is back in the running as favorite. They'll have to decide on 10 or 12 for next season. When they decide to go 12, it's expected that all those schools would be invited and probably would join.
  14. There is absolutely no sense to make of this.
  15. Missouri Board of Curators gave Chancellor Deaton the authority to make any conference move without needing their approval. He said it won't be long before a decision is made and that it would take place beginning next year, and not later, as acting Big XII commish Neinas has said. Story
  16. The PAC is less likely to give in than the Big Ten, who seem to always be waiting to see what the other conferenes do and then following suit.
  17. Bingo. Which is why Texas and Oklahoma will never go to the SEC. If there is LEGITIMATE power move for 16 team super conferences, I think it would be a safe bet that Texas and Oklahoma would be going to the PAC - assuming neither goes in dependent. Actually, I think Texas will go Big Ten or Independent. PAC has basically said they don't want them, the SEC doesn't either, and they were only included in ACC talks because of Notre Dame, who I could see them going to the B1G as a pair with. Texas has kind of become the hot girl that everyone all of sudden realized is a total b****, and now pretty much no one wants to have anything to do with her... except the somewhat known, yet kind of desperate, girl who just wants the cool points. Also known as the Big Ten.
  18. I really don't see OU and Oklahoma State going to the SEC. Mizzou is a good program, but they're not a dominating one like OU can be. I believe that's why OU would prefer the PAC. As a whole, the level of play isn't what the SEC is, though they do have some great schools. But OU could go in there, have some competition and still win the conference probably 4 out of 5 years. The SEC has too many schools that would challenge that year in and year out.
  19. That's not really saying anything. No one said another baseball stadiums but rather an actual football stadium.
  20. It really seems like OU wants to go west to the PAC. Maybe they feel like it's a step up now that the Big XII is practically in ruins, but also a conference they could very well dominate. And it appears the PAC wants them too, they're just reluctant to take on so many new members in such a short period. I'd think they'd be more receptive to just taking OU and OkST and making smaller steps towards a 16-team conference. You'll notice, that them and the SEC are really the only two conferences who don't seem to be sweating it out. They almost appear like they're calm and collected, while the Big XII and Big East struggle for survival, and the ACC and Big Ten are keenly watching what they do so they can figure out what to do next. The ACC basically decided to go ahead and make a move when it looked like they could lose a few schools. The Big Ten is in no danger of losing anybody, but they just seem like they're always unsure of what they should do next. They had more talks with Notre Dame, but while keeping the PAC in the corner of their eye. Once the PAC decided not to expand, the Big Ten basically did the same thing.
  21. I think is more of an inevitablility that Oklahoma and Oklahoma State end up in the PAC in the next year or two. I don't believe they're committed to the Big XII long term, and I think they'll be more than willing to seperate themselves from Texas and just become a 2-team package. I think the PAC would be more open to just 2 schools at a time rather than adding 4 more at once. This would leave out Texas Tech, but I don't think the Oklahoma schools are all that concerned with getting them in as well. They could take TT if BYU is an option for a 16th school, but that's less likely at this time.
  22. I heard Alabama will support their entry if they go into the East. Of course it could only be for a year or two if they end up going to 16, Plus I read the Arkansas AD said they will not expand into a state that currently has a conferene team, which would rule out FSU, Georgia Tech and Clemson, and Louisville who may have had an outside chance at the 16th spot. Still leaves WV as an option though, but who else? Va Tech? Thought they were basically joined at the hip with Virginia. The SEC could also basically be saying we're staying at 14 without actually saying it, while just leaving the door cracked open slightly enough to possibly add 2 more. Though it's probably just another "we're not the aggressors" move.
  23. Then can't we just change the title to "NCAA Division I Conference Realignment"? It's all relevant.
