  1. The PAC is less likely to give in than the Big Ten, who seem to always be waiting to see what the other conferenes do and then following suit.
  2. Bingo. Which is why Texas and Oklahoma will never go to the SEC. If there is LEGITIMATE power move for 16 team super conferences, I think it would be a safe bet that Texas and Oklahoma would be going to the PAC - assuming neither goes in dependent. Actually, I think Texas will go Big Ten or Independent. PAC has basically said they don't want them, the SEC doesn't either, and they were only included in ACC talks because of Notre Dame, who I could see them going to the B1G as a pair with. Texas has kind of become the hot girl that everyone all of sudden realized is a total b****, and now pretty much no one wants to have anything to do with her... except the somewhat known, yet kind of desperate, girl who just wants the cool points. Also known as the Big Ten.
  3. I really don't see OU and Oklahoma State going to the SEC. Mizzou is a good program, but they're not a dominating one like OU can be. I believe that's why OU would prefer the PAC. As a whole, the level of play isn't what the SEC is, though they do have some great schools. But OU could go in there, have some competition and still win the conference probably 4 out of 5 years. The SEC has too many schools that would challenge that year in and year out.
  4. That's not really saying anything. No one said another baseball stadiums but rather an actual football stadium.
  5. It really seems like OU wants to go west to the PAC. Maybe they feel like it's a step up now that the Big XII is practically in ruins, but also a conference they could very well dominate. And it appears the PAC wants them too, they're just reluctant to take on so many new members in such a short period. I'd think they'd be more receptive to just taking OU and OkST and making smaller steps towards a 16-team conference. You'll notice, that them and the SEC are really the only two conferences who don't seem to be sweating it out. They almost appear like they're calm and collected, while the Big XII and Big East struggle for survival, and the ACC and Big Ten are keenly watching what they do so they can figure out what to do next. The ACC basically decided to go ahead and make a move when it looked like they could lose a few schools. The Big Ten is in no danger of losing anybody, but they just seem like they're always unsure of what they should do next. They had more talks with Notre Dame, but while keeping the PAC in the corner of their eye. Once the PAC decided not to expand, the Big Ten basically did the same thing.
  6. I think is more of an inevitablility that Oklahoma and Oklahoma State end up in the PAC in the next year or two. I don't believe they're committed to the Big XII long term, and I think they'll be more than willing to seperate themselves from Texas and just become a 2-team package. I think the PAC would be more open to just 2 schools at a time rather than adding 4 more at once. This would leave out Texas Tech, but I don't think the Oklahoma schools are all that concerned with getting them in as well. They could take TT if BYU is an option for a 16th school, but that's less likely at this time.
  7. I heard Alabama will support their entry if they go into the East. Of course it could only be for a year or two if they end up going to 16, Plus I read the Arkansas AD said they will not expand into a state that currently has a conferene team, which would rule out FSU, Georgia Tech and Clemson, and Louisville who may have had an outside chance at the 16th spot. Still leaves WV as an option though, but who else? Va Tech? Thought they were basically joined at the hip with Virginia. The SEC could also basically be saying we're staying at 14 without actually saying it, while just leaving the door cracked open slightly enough to possibly add 2 more. Though it's probably just another "we're not the aggressors" move.
  8. Then can't we just change the title to "NCAA Division I Conference Realignment"? It's all relevant.
  9. mod edit: No, seriously, this is a football realignment thread, not hoops.
  10. The recruiting and money they'd get from the SEC is far greater than the B1G.
  11. Uhg. Sad day for the Big 10 and their arrogance. They let a golden goose slip away. And Mizzou fans everywhere thank 'em for that.
  12. With Alabama seemingly on board, it appears they're going to be approved and Mizzou wants to go to the SEC, so it's more than likely a done deal.
  13. Cincinnati (and possibly Louisville and West Virginia) beg to differ. All are highly possible Big XII invitees. With the direction the Big East is going, it seems inevitable that they would make the jump. There have been talks with those schools and the Big XII, to varying degrees, so it's very much in play.
  14. Big East should just let their football conference fold and go to basketball only. All their FB schools are leaving and they're basically just gonna take over Conference USA. Cut your losses and move on.
  15. I read on twitter (take it as you will) that there is an offer, but Slive is making MU jump through hoops like they did with aTM. Not certain about, just what's being said around out there.
  16. FSU and Clemson are the only schools that might leave, an even that seems unlikely. They'll probably add UConn and Rutgers an go to 16, maybe down to 14, but that's about it. ACC has pretty much already engulfed the Big Easy schools it wants. Whatever us left after WCU, L'ville an Cincy find a new home will just be CUSA essentially.
  17. The current alignment is as it is so as to maintain rivalries. Since all teams play once a week, travel isn't the issue it is in other sports, so geography isn't as restrictive as it is in those leagues.
  18. Because the Big East set themselves up to be THE dominant basketball conference and are tragically realizing just how much of a priority football is over basketball. They were in denial just too long and now they're paying for the bad timing.
  19. From the Colorado Springs Gazette: As for Navy... well, I thought they were ready to make the jump, but apparently now they're waiting for stability before moving to the Big East. Then again, it's the typical say-nothing statement from a college AD, so who the hell knows, really? Not a chance - not with the lack of any better non-AQ conferences (the MWC without Boise, TCU, Air Force, BYU, and Utah is pretty much as bad as the WAC) out there, and especially not with ESPN's influence on conference realignment and the fear of legal action on the part of the Big East if their AQ bid were to get revoked. Yes a chance. The Big East is gonna be a shell of what it is now. All the big name schools will be gone. UConn and Rutgers are on their ways out, as is Louisville, Cincy an West Virginia possibly. Basically, the BE is gonna be remnants from the MWC and CUSA disguised as a power conference. The next BCS evaluation will reveal the truth.
  20. Saying you'd rather be in the B1G but would "settle" for the SEC is like a baseball free agent saying he'd rather be with the Yankees but would "settle" for the Red Sawks. I never said that. One person did and it amounted to nothing. Probably just someone running their mouth, making statements on their own personal preference.
  21. I can tell you that it seems like the vast majority of Mizzou fans want the SEC. Myself included. Better recruiting AND more money.
  22. I've read that if Mizzou leaves before December 1st, they only have to pay what aTm paid, around $12.5m. Neinas has sorta been in denial ever since he took over. He said Mizzou was no doubt staying.. now they're exploring. He's basically just trying to do the whole "if I say it enough, it will come true" thing.
