Yep, not sure if they are putting the team name in the end zones. But they had "Arizona" in both yesterday. nd no red striping on the 20's either.
Speaking of displaced 49ers, in 1989 they had to play at Stanford Stadium. I remember the field numbers being on the field twice. One at college placement and one at the NFL placement.

While on the subject of Cardinals, they had the NFL shield at mid-field, most likely because the 49ers are going to be bunkmates for a little while.

One of my least favorite end zone designs: partially painted end zones. They were all the craze in the aughts (Steelers and Titans jumped in as well), and it feels like someone who can't make up their mind. It's not difficult: just paint the whole damn thing.
I think they did that to cover up markings from game the previous day.
@SFCOM1 I don't remember that font all that much. Back then we had NFL Primetime and hoped you caught it in the highlights. Not like RedZone and YouTube we have today for research. Well done as always!

Us field paint nuts are so lucky to have you guys. Big appreciation for your historical documentation.

I was trying to determine if the end zone had a fade built into it, or was it just the paint washing out with their shiny turf.
As always, excellent work sir! -

So we can guess that each team doesn't have their own rolled up carpeted End Zone, like the Jets/Giants do?
Or do the Giants/Jets scrub the paint out from green and just paint blue over it? I wonder.
The Giants and Jets have their own end zones. Sometimes if there is a couple of games back to back, they will use the blank endzones. It doesn't happen often.

I'm surprised the NFL allowed the nontraditional fonts to continue. It's even been used in Super Bowls. They usually aren't fun like that.

Thank you as always Pitt. Big fan of all your work. I'm sure I can speak for others, we really appreciate all you do.

I don't like the inconsistency of everything. Why would one have a helmet and one not? Last year I could understand because the Rams didn't really have a separate logo for their old school look. I know it's probably only a small group of us that care, but come on. Who is making these decisions?

I'm surprised they are painting this early. In my limited experience with a high school grass field, in two weeks, you'll need a full repaint.

I've never been one to request, but I'd like to see a Steelers black end zone from Super Bowl XL with the gold racing stripes. I don't know if the Steelers script would look better in white or gold though?

Holy asymmetrical NFL100 logo!

Yay for variety!

Yea those Candlestick fields where classic. I doubt they will go as far as painting the numbers and adding the extra fun stuff!
I think the numbers were outlined in red on Saturday.....it's a start.

Well, we are getting some new blood on the AFC side of things. One has been 20 years. One has been 50 years and one has never been. I'll take it, even though two are blue.

Just saw a good video on YouTube of George Toma. Regarding this game, he said with the change in pregame and halftime entertainment because of Desert Storm, there was more than usual practice on the field, and it ruined the grass in the center. They went to a local high school soccer field the night before the game, broke in and stole 1000 square feet of sod. By 1am, they resodded the center, and painted the logo.

Good catch on the blue outline.
Small personal story, back in September I helped paint the numbers and center logo on my old high school's football field. Being volunteer and having limited time, and I really appreciate the effort put into painting the field. It took 4 of us 3 hours just to paint white numbers on the field. Lots of stakes and strings to make sure everything is in place. And we only have one sprayer.

The end line border said something like "Thank You LA Memorial Coliseum." I'll see if I can find it.
EDIT: Here ya go....

Well, all four of the dreaded blue end zone teams play in the Wild Card round in the AFC.
And the only blue end zone for the NFC belongs to the Seahawks who I believe will play in the Wild Card round, win or lose.
Let's get some color this year!
