Gen X, according to five seconds of Google, was ‘65-‘80. Boomers were ‘46-‘64 and Millennials were ‘81-‘96.There need to be sub-generations, because there’s a lot of separation between people born in the first and second halves of each of those generations. Like, I’m firmly a Millennial (born 1993), but I didn’t experience things like Nirvana being an active band or the Eagles using kelly green. I believe what I am is a “Zillennial,” not unlike the “Generation Jones” that marked the ‘60s born boomers and Gen X.
I can live with "Generation Jones." Solid band name too.

Is there nothing in between? I'm firmly Gen X, but always considered "boomer" to be people born in the years after the war, with Gen X being mid/late 70s - early/mid 80s. There's gotta be something else for 60s/early 70s, right?
Welcome to my existential crisis.

Reffing has been bad forever, but I feel like the quality of everything took a nosedive in the COVID years.
Our expectations of professionalism are down across the board everywhere, and it doesn't seem to matter that much.
(I am now a boomer)
I thought it was just me or maybe an Ohio thing. Guess not.
You're 100% correct, by the way.
(I was born on the cusp of Gen X and Boomers. I don't know what I am.

The faculty voted to turn down the invitation to the Rose Bowl because "Football was becoming too big at The Ohio State University" and I've always kind of thought that maybe they had a point. LOL Can you imagine that ever happening now?
From that to total football factory in approximately 50 years. Impressive.

Wait... did the NCAA just steal my idea?
Probably. The NCAA totally stole my idea for the expanded playoff.

It's really funny to me if you look back at like the 30's and 40's and how many teams claim national championships for the same year. It was kind of a joke.
In 1960, Ohio State "won" a "National Championship" because they were voted #1 in what was essentially the Penny Saver Poll.

Here’s an idea: no more national champions. You get conference titles and bowls as reward for winning a conference. That’s it.
Every method for finding a national champion is bafflingly stupid and we are better off without them.
No argument here. It seems like that was the intent with College Football back in the day. It used to be that our goal as Ohio State fans was to win the Big Ten and go to the Rose Bowl. If a bunch of idiot sports writers held a vote after that and decided we were National Champions, it was just icing on the cake. I may be wrong, but it feels like this obsession with winning a NC is a fairly recent development.

FSU suddenly has an offense that rivals Iowa's.
Let's not get carried away here. Iowa's offense has no rivals.

When there’s an opportunity to clown on the Eagles, I never will turn that down. They got blown out by the Super Bowl favorite just like the Cowboys did in an equally embarrassing fashion.Fair enough.

I'm not rooting for the Chiefs, but they should have had 1st and goal at the end there. That was horse:censored:.
That was a makeup call for the horse
roughing call on the Packers a couple plays earlier, but your point remains.

I meant the other thumb. #6. (Sorry, should have made that clear.) That's what they were yapping about in Pittsburgh back in '08 when they won #6. (Or at least the Burghers I lived amongst at the time.)
Leave it to Steelers fans to put that 6th ring on their other thumb instead of their ring finger like anyone with a brain would.

We'll revisit this again in February.
For as good as SF has been the past couple seasons—even making it to the SB twice—they haven't yet been able to finish the deal. Perhaps this is the season they get that elusive "one for the thumb" (and in so doing shut up the Puhlamalu Steelerheads at the same time), but until then, it is what it is.
BUT, as Chris Berman once used to say, "THAT'S why they play the games."
FWIW, the Niners got "the one for the thumb" in 1994.

Isn’t it crazy how when the Eagles aren’t getting the benefit of the whistle against a good team, they’re getting blown out?
Cowboys fans should probably sit this one out.

Can someone call the audio department? There's a bad echo in here.

Bailey Zappe actually looked like a capable NFL quarterback today. If he had any sort of capable wide receiver, and better play calling backing up him, he could be a great player in the XFL, but probably not.
Edited for accuracy.

Congrats to Liberty on being the first member of Conference USA to reach the New Year's Six. I want to see if they can hold up against a Power 5 team like Oregon.
*Narrator* They didn't.

Retribution for losing in a fair contest?
College fans and the entire process is insane. I blame Coach Prime for dragging me back to this back-assward, flawed joke of a sport.
You're bigger, smarter, and more pure than ten mortal sports fans, Van Smack. We're just happy that you grace us with your superior sports intellect.

I agree that Florida State got screwed. That being said, if you're Michigan, who would you rather play in the playoff, Florida State or Alabama? That's why Alabama got in.

Had the committee guy just said "We really just wanted the Alabama brand in the playoff" I would've been fine with it. The honestly would've been refreshing.
Replace Alabama with the SEC and it's been obvious since day one of this thing.

Pick a team other than the Cowboys and I would have been OK with it.
