looks to be this season's template for Summer League:

Hoping the 3 teams changing "main" uniforms will reflect the changes in their Summer League looks. Everyone keep their eyes peeled!

I do miss the Pistons having the NOB being straight instead of arched like it's been since the Nike template change in 2017.

Unrelated--well, I guess it kinda is related--and not that I want them to change it, but it amuses me how, 27 years later, the Pistons are still using (pretty much) the same font from the Teal Horse era. I'm actually probably more amused by the fact that in all this time since, they haven't even tried to change it...good for them, as it's one of my favorite custom team fonts in sports, quirky as it is.

When something works, there is no real reason to change it. I'm hoping the Pistons stick with it and their (IMO) modern classic jerseys from 2001 - the younger fans are getting pretty loud on social media about wanting them to change, even after a bone was thrown to them with the Teal Classic Edition last year.

I would agree that an overhaul isn’t necessary.  However, that’s what they’re doing.

What particularly scared me about the new uniforms coming next year is that the team president referred to them as "significant", while in the same breath calling the 2017 set a "tweaking."

The Pistons posted this on their social media yesterday. I'm presuming it might be a hint at their City Edition for next season being Motown themed.

Seems a bit early for an unveiling what with the Finals still in progress and the fact the Pistons have never unveiled a City Edition until the league-wide drop by Nike which usually takes place in early November.

Looks like it's just a merch line on their Team Store for now, similar to the "Martin" stuff they put out a year or two ago.

Yeah the NBA doesn’t allow teams to go back to old unis full time.

With all of the other uniform rules basically out the window at this point, this one should be too. But they have to protect that Hardwood Classics merchandise line, I suppose.

Has anyone heard of any teams getting a full new jersey set next year?

Phoenix maybe? I thought they were supposed to have one but delayed it.

I was just thinking recently how's there been a dearth of leaks or rumors for next season.  Almost all of the City and Classic Editions and some of the Statement Editions had already leaked by this time last year.

Do people not like the Lions blue pants on the road? I think that’s their best look. I do hate the all blue look however.

Agreed. There's nothing wrong with the white/silver but the white/blue might be my favorite look in the current Lions set. Not a fan of the all-blue but I'd rather have that then the all-gray or all-white options, though.

Imagine if the Lions just did this and left them alone for more than 5 years

I wouldn't mind a blue pants and silver socks option, to be used only with the white tops; but otherwise, yes, please this. I have a bad feeling whatever they do is going to be downgrade from the current set, which isn't perfect but for the most part is good enough outside of the the white pants and color rush set, IMO.

    Icy white, here we go!

The article, via an Internet archive, makes it sound like the alternate helmet will go with the gray color rush (which IMO other than the all-white option is the worst uniform in the current set.)

For now, alternate helmets can be worn only with alternate uniforms, which for the Lions are their gray jerseys and pants.

Not sure if that is accurate or not. Beat writers often get these details wrong.

makes me wonder if any other teams have a jersey that doesn’t fully align with their branding (excluding city edition.) closest i can think of is the clippers but turns out they made the old english wordmark an official logo now

The Pistons introduced that questionable new black Statement edition this year, having black no where in their color scheme and using a font that's not in their branding package, as well. It does have the horizontal blue and red stripes that tie into the Bad Boys era warmups, but as been the case with most of their alts over the last 10+ years, I am not a fan.

Not only that but the pants are stripe-less which looks too generic, just like JAX with their white pants.

When the Lions first rolled out the mono-white look last year, it seemed to me like it was done a whim and Nike just sent them a pair of blank pants with no styling applied to them. While I still wouldn't be a fan, I imagine it would look a little better if the pants had some striping.

Blue pants have been worn at Chicago and Minnesota numerous times but only ONCE at Lambeau, in 2017, the inaugural year of this set, when the Lions wore blue pants every time they wore the white jersey.

Just when I thought we were going to get through the entire season without the white-out look being used, the Lions have to break them out for a high-profile Sunday night game. What a shame; it's their second worst look ahead of only the dreadful all-gray color rush.

Had a WTF moment when I turned on the Lakers/Pistons game to see the Pistons wearing Milwaukee Bucks green at home.

    This stupid league.

EDIT: I'm sure there's a reason the Pistons are wearing Milwaukee Bucks Christmas uniforms, but I don't care. It's too much.

The sad part is that it's by far the best City or Pride (using Adidas' nomenclature) jersey the Pistons have had going back the nearly 10 years this program has been in existence.

And had a large number of people looking forward to its return as part of the Reverse Retro program. 25 years down the line, nobody is going to want the blanded out Jazz Uniform to return, in any way, shape or form.

While I agree with your sentiment, you could still be surprised. I’m a Pistons fan that lived through the original teal era as a young teenager, and I never thought I’d see the day when a loud segment of the next generation would spend years begging for them to come back, let alone the team actually doing it. Time makes fools of us all.

Does the success of the city edition program entice Nike and the NBA  to renew their contract when it comes to an end? Recently major US leagues haven't held a manufacturer for much more than a decade.

Despite Adidas' success in the NHL, their time with the NHL came to an end pretty quickly. Things have been successful so far, but I think that the next 10-15 years of NBA jerseys are still pretty unclear.

I don't see any outcome but Nike renewing the contract as likely. It doesn't seem like any other apparel company but Nike is interested in outfitting the major American professional athletic leagues at the moment. Under Armour had a deal with MLB a few years ago, but that fell through due to their financial situation and Nike swooped it up.
