Well, like Milo said, the prime examples are on their third round of reposts. We can't just make people up, so obviously there is going to be many less memorable examples. That only makes logical sense. Unfortunately, people seem to be around here only to rain on others parades. I agree with the guy who posted Johnny Damon in a Rays uni, that is the "wrong" uniform for many people. That fits perfectly in this thread. I mean, if you guys dont like where its gone, why are you still posting in here? Go re-read the first few pages if you're really that into those examples
Or better yet, I think it's just time to let this thread die.
Until next year when Nick Lidstrom signs a free agent contract with the Florida Panthers.

This thread is for things like Emmitt Smith as a Cardinal or Bobby Hull as a Whaler, not LeBron James as a Cav.
Correct...unfortunately, those and their ilk are on about their third go-round as reposts.
If anyone considers the Royals, A's, Sox, or Yanks to be the "wrong" uniform for Damon, they're seriously misguided.
I personally associate him most with the Yanks, but that's because I'm a Yankees fan and he was here more recently than his tenure with the Sox. Objectively, he's equally associated with the Sox and the Yanks.

Thanks for the guidance newbie
Newbie? I've been registered here since July 2007. I'm more of a lurker than a newbie.
Get off your high horse.
Yeah, the whole thing with slamming people for membership dates and post counts is pretty disappointing, especially from members I tend to respect.
= kidding around.

I associate Damon with the Red Sox more than any other team.

Its a little too understated for my taste.

CAPITALISM!!!
Nope!
However, I have purchased patches from a licensed dealer and licensed RKB/CCM uncrested jerseys and made my own and hung them up on my jersey rack and they will not be sold.
I made a red Minnesota Wild and a dark blue CCM era Canucks.

Do you think driving while intoxicated is a victimless crime?
Yes.
But once an accident occurs it becomes a crime with a victim.
SO, has charger77 bought any knock offs since starting this thread ?
Nope.
GOING TO ?
Nope!

Is that where the fantasy football people get theirs?
They seem pretty easy to get. Take a look.
You know, $250 as a gag gift for the winner of a league is not that bad provided everybody chip in at the beginning of the season or everybody else pays for the winner.

I met a recruiter from another college who played for the Lions and Baltimore Colts who wears his NFL Alumni ring every day.
He told me he lent it to his friends a lot when they were in their 30s to help them pick up chicks at bars!

To wear or not to wear..that is the question

I'd wear the $hit out of a Stanley Cup ring if I ever won one.

Drew Gooden in his one game with the Kings before being bought out.
The Sacramento Knicks?
...I don't get it.
I could have sworn it said Knicks earlier?

Frickin amazing rings!
Wow, both are impressive.

If you don't mind me asking:
How did you get them and how much did you pay for them?

So if price is all that matters, why buy a TV for $2000 when you can get the same one for $500? So what if that the ones you are buying for $500 were stolen out of your neighbors' homes, that's not your problem, you're getting a deal. Of course, buy purchasing these obviously stolen TVs, you're creating a market for it and encouraging thieves to break in and steal more TVs to sell, but who cares - you got yours. Well, until it gets stolen and sold to your neighbor for $500.
Just because one is a physical product with a forced-entry method of stealing and one is IP which is easily stolen without anyone getting physically harmed doesn't really make it much different. Except to most of you of course.
Sounds similiar to a notion I posed to looogodud:
I hope you get robbed one day and the thief leaves a note that says:Dear homeowner,
I really like your stuff but I can't afford it so I just helped myself to whats in your garage.
P.S. If you're going to blame anybody blame companies for charging too much and my boss for not paying me enough. If you really think about it... it not really my fault. Besides what do you care about being robbed for, people are speeding!

What I don't get is that all of these jerseys, be they real or fake, are coming from the same part of the world, correct? Same materials, just different stitchers. Because of that, I don't see the big deal in paying $200 vs. $40 for the exact same jersey. Granted, there are fakes out there that are of horrendous quality and laughable authenticity, but the Chiefs jerseys I have are perfect, and coming from a jersey/logo/design enthusiast like myself I can say that with due diligence, and if I've found a jersey or two that just so happens to have the same materials made to the same specifications and is cheaper, I just don't see the big deal in purchasing one.
The materials are definately not the same. Many times on the counterfit hockey jerseys the logos, names and numbers appear to be of the same material that the logos on a Starter jacket would be. Also, more often than not the fonts are off as well.
Not understanding why it is a big deal is one of the big "gear grinders" that many of us anti-countefitters have.
-
Are you guys noticing a lot of legit looking store selling counterfits? I have yet to see them in Michigan. Or are they more like flea markets like JQK said?
-
My friend actually bought a Jets jersey from somewhere like this, it wasnt that bad but the patch and the NOB were way off.
Then how was it not that bad?
-
So what you're saying is that sports should only be for those who can afford it? Otherwise, you're excluded?
I'd argue that any product is for those that can afford it.
