Cool lockup of the clippers logos.

I think the Carnival Cruise ship in the crosshairs isn't a great mark, but the rest of it is very strong. You can minimize that global logo pretty easily, like most NBA teams do.

Sidebar - anybody else find if odd that the NBA has requirements that the GLOBAL icon is the one that relies on the most English/words. Seems to me a Global icon should be the most symbolic and easiest to digest is your brand.  Seems like a giant waste to insist every team shoehorn their (often long) team / city names onto a logo.  The NFL and Soccer have no issue with this and their logos.

Agree fully about the ship. The bow needs to be less pronounced so that you can tell the sails are sails and not decks of a cruise liner.

They might be the most forgettable team in all of pro sports.

I wonder if people in Columbus actually care about them. I'm surprised they haven't been a topic of any relocation talk.

After the Rhinos were aborted in 1997, it looks like Virginia isn't getting an NHL team any time soon.

It was never really a relocation. It's essentially still DC. You could throw a rock from their current arena to the proposed site. The Rhinos were an idea for the Hampton Roads/Norfolk/Newport News area, which is farther from DC than Philly is.

Omaha also has a population bigger than Elmont, New York and Paradise, Nevada. Just going by the population of a city, and not taking into account the area the city covers and the actual metro population can be incredibly misleading. That is certainly the case for Omaha in comparision to current NHL markets.

Going by area, Omaha is the third biggest in terms of those mentioned cities

    Tampa - 175.83 sq mi

    Raleigh - 149.60 sq mi

    Omaha - 146.28 sq mi

    St Louis - 66.17 sq m

    Pittsburgh - 58.35 sq mi

Saint Paul - 56.10 sq mi

    Miami - 56.07 sq mi

    Buffalo - 52.48 sq mi

    Anaheim - 50.88 sq mi

    Tempe - 40.15 sq mi

    Newark - 25.88 sq mi

And those cities by population density

    Newark - 12,903.8/sq mi

    Miami - 12,284.47/sq mi

    Anaheim - 6,899.22/sq mi

    Buffalo - 6,893.41/sq mi

    Saint Paul - 5,994.02/sq mi

    Pittsburgh - 5,471.26/sq mi

    St Louis - 4,886.23/sq mi

    Tempe - 4,521.34/sq mi

    Omaha - 3,658.41/sq mi

    Tampa - 3,376.4/sq mi

    Raleigh - 3,148.33/sq mi

So Omaha is third from top in terms of city area and third from bottom in terms of density. It also has/is in a smaller metro area population wise than any of those other cities. And while it's population did grow a lot during the 90's, 00's and 10's, judging by estimates for 2022 it looks to have slowed a lot.

Metro population and TV market are a much better indication than by the population of the main city of a metro area, and by those numbers, Omaha is way down the list and the arguement that it could support an NHL Franchise because it's the 40th largest city in terms of population and ahead of 8 cities that do have a NHL team (the Panthers don't play in the city of Miami and the residents of Tempe said no to the Coyotes) is a pretty weak one.

You can't put Elmont, New York in a class of it's own lol. It's essentially a hamlet in the 9th largest metropolitan area in the world.

They do have a simplified version of the crown from 1998 onwards, but it might be too simple.

I always thought this, but with a straight edge bottom (without the 'head hole') would make a perfect logo. Slap it up front and call it a day.

  6. Also depending on how the Hamilton/Brantford situation shakes out, I could see whichever city doesn't end up with a team getting one. i.e. if the Bulldogs go back to Hamilton, Brantford gets a team. If they decide to stay, Hamilton gets a team. The Bulldogs are selling out (I know it's a small arena). If the novelty doesn't wear out, it could be a full time city.

Thunder Bay would be cool, but waaaay too far away considering teams don't fly.

I do believe that the GTA could still house a team, but they don't work in places like Mississauga or Brampton. Perhaps in the North York region.  It's a hockey crazed city and the Leafs are extremely over priced, if you can even get a seat.

I'm just surprised that Brampton got an OHL team again, but the question is, no matter how good or bad the attendances are, how long will they stay in Brampton before high tailing out there?

Not long. I see you're in Chatham. I'd put money on that being their next landing spot. I know there are arena issues, but I'm surprised they don't have a team already.

That, or another American market. Possibly Battle Creek, Lansing or give Detroit metro another shot.
