QC has an NHL calibre arena, and enough fan support to draw crowds. However, they don’t have much of a corporate base, and would hurt the value of the league’s TV contract. The premier has said he wants a team back, but it isn’t clear who would own them or who would pay the relocation fee.Apple, Google, Microsoft could build headquarters and the Saudis could claim Quebec City as their new capital, and the NHL still wouldn't give it a second thought.

San Diego has a new NHL capable arena coming, and Stan Kroneke is the primary money man behind it.
I always thought the NHL could work in San Diego. It's a 3 million metro and they always seem to support their minor teams fairly well. Also, with no fall/winter sports anymore, sports fans may love another ticket in town.

It was discussed a few weeks ago in here I believe, but Hartford would need a new arena before they could be seriously considered. Nothing has really changed on that front since the team left for Raleigh 25 years ago. The market also isn't doing itself any favors, as the city of Hartford itself is the fourth most populated in Connecticut and continues to shrink. That doesn't necessarily mean the metro area of about 1.2 million couldn't support an NHL team, but it might make more sense to give a midwest market like Kansas City a chance, or Quebec City if you want to go the small-but-proven hockey market route.
Totally agree, they just seem very keen on giving it a shot.

You guys think there's any fire regarding the Connecticut Governor re: Yotes to Hartford?
I feel that most of the fans that the Whalers abandoned have either hopped on with the Bruins, Rangers, Isles, or followed the Whalers down to Carolina.

I don't mind Denver's uni package. To me, it feels 'gritty'...which fits the theme of a gold miner.
Personally, I think they should have based a whole package around these:

I don't get how it "doesn't make sense". It's an Orca, which are plentiful in the waters off B.C. It also forms a C for Canucks.

The Orca works. It's a solid logo and they've been relatively successful in it. Leave it alone.

I know they're the "Golden" Knights, but their best look is the dark gray jerseys and socks. I thought that was really sharp right out of the gate. Gave it a medieval knight vibe and had enough gold to meet the "golden" quota.
My problem with all the all-gold sweaters is there's no black next to the dark gray to give context for that color so the dark gray ends up just looking like a black that got dulled in the sun.
I just think these are a little garish.
Agreed 100%. The gold should be a permanent alt.

I love the idea of just going with “Eagles” since Vegas has the “Golden” adjective locked down, but could that pose some legal issues with the Philadelphia NFL team? IIRC wasn’t that what kept the Washington Commanders from using “Wolves” somewhere in their name (like Redwolves)?Or would there be be a way around it, like trademarking the entire team name, like “Utah Eagles” instead of just “Eagles?”
As for another possible name, I think “Stingers” would work well with a bee-themed identity—if Cincinnati doesn’t mind someone else picking up the old WHA team name.
I think they were blocked or were given issues by Arkansas State, who use Red Wolves.
Salt Lake Stingers actually has a nice ring to it.

The Salt Lake Golden Eagles was the BEST identity Utah hockey ever had...unfortunately, Vegas would probably veto any team using that color adjective.
Agreed, but even just 'Eagles' could work.
-
If a move to Utah happens, do they keep the Coyotes identity? Utah is still desert-y/sort of southwest. I hope so, I love it.
-
I'm only being half serious, but what about Tucson? It's got a metro pop of about a million. No suitable arena mind you, yet.
-
Figured as such.
-
Do you guys think that if the Coyotes hypothetically pack the U-hauls for Salt Lake City, that they would use Utah as their name, or Salt Lake City?
-
Ducks really need to get rid of that stupid duck foot. One of the worst logos in history.

I like what you're going for, but it's waaaay too busy.

Do you think I should put the black back on the logo for more contrast?
No, personally I like it like this. I know it eludes to a puck, but it could still be a purple puck. I mean the Isles have an orange and white puck in their logo.

Honestly loved this logo and color scheme. Always thought it would also look great in their new color scheme as well. Everything they've used since 06 has just been blah.

I've said before that I really wish the best for the 'Yotes as far as finding a solution to stay in the Phoenix metro area . When they first arrived, I fell in love with their brand and found it cool that there was an NHL literally in the middle of the desert.
With that being said, on the flip side of the coin, obviously this clown show has gone on far too long.

ESPN (so take it with a large grain of salt) is throwing around Salt Lake City as a potential option for relocation, only going as far to say "Jazz owner Ryan Smith has met with Bettman within the past year."
Now that's an interesting location. Anyone know if hockey has any type of following in the Beehive State?
I know they had the Golden Eagles in the IHL and the Grizzlies currently (in the burbs I believe). Not sure how successful either of them were/are. I remember thinking back during the 02 Olympics that SLC would be a cool place for an NHL team.

Not sure if any of you listen to NHL radio on sirius, but they've been talking about Cleveland as a possibility on the air this morning.

This is a very random downgrade. Not only was nothing wrong with the old orange, the new one is closer to burnt orange. That’s more Austin than Philly.
Also the current Jets logo is fine… it’s just boring. I’m not sure how to fix that.
What's with the logo shrinking on the right side?

I usually love to give some constructive criticism but I can't on any of these. Phenomenal.

Totally. I could live without the CAPITALS script, but that's a solid uni.
