Cannons vs Redwoods in PLL "Friday Night Lacrosse" season opener

New snake skin practice jerseys for the Whipsnakes that match their helmets. Don't know if this means we'll see new corresponding game jerseys.
-
Cannons' helmets at PLL camp. Since PLL teams have 2 sets of helmets, it's probably safe to assume they will have either red or blue helmets as well.

Probably the Jets. “New Jersey Jets” is one of those alliterations the big 4 sports love.
(As the board’s New Jersey representative, I support this move).
I remember a time before the Madden video game franchise was licensed to use NFL team names, the Jets were called "New Jersey". Also the (at the time) LA Raiders were called "Oakland".

Cannons uniforms were released earlier today.

Based on a brief mention Paul Rabil has with his camera man on his most recent YouTube video, the Cannons PLL uniforms should be unveiled next Friday. PLL training camp begins next Friday (May 28), and the season starts the week after that on June 4.
Based on the Cannons player t-shirt I posted earlier in this thread it may be safe to assume their jerseys will have simple block numbers, and one of the jerseys will be navy blue. I hope they carry over the silver helmets from the MLL days.

FWIW, the PLL has released player t-shirts for the Cannons. Guess we can expect their first PLL jerseys to have generic block numbers.

A professional graphic artist made that Albany NLL logo? Looks like the type of things my classmates would draw out of boredom in middle school.

The purpose they serve is making the company's product visually distinct.
So it's possible for a new age helmet to have the internal workings of a Vicis, while the exterior has the simple mold of the old school Riddell helmets?

Am I the only that sees a similarity to the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers helmet? Particularly the red and green rangers' helmets.
Why did football helmets start developing all the random ridges, holes and vents anyway? Do they serve a practical purpose? Been like that since the early 2000's.

And why shouldn't OLs be able to have 50-79 and 90-99 now?
I've wanted to see offensive linemen wear 90s for the longest.
FWIW I know some college football programs force offensive players wearing 1-19 to change their jersey number if there aren't any numbers in that range available for a QB. You would think some NFL teams would do the same.

I agree with the goal of growing the game. However, I think there is a middle ground on this issue.
The PLL could easily assign city/state designations to the teams and play a blended schedule. For example, the Boston Cannons could play three games in Boston, three in other teams' home venues and four games as part of barnstorming/neutral site doubleheaders. That would still maintain part of the touring schedule while allowing local interest to develop.
Sounds reasonable. Hell of a lot better than one suggestion I've heard. Someone thought assigning teams to regions would be a good hybrid of the 2 models. Brief description of what they suggested....
New England Cannons: rotates home games in cities around New England
Mid Atlantic Archers: rotates it's home games in NY, NJ, DE, PA, MD, DC and VA
Great Lakes Atlas: you get the idea
Basically each team would have a set home region, but the location of home games would rotate between cities within that region. Only one team for the Mid Atlantic states seems like a big mistake in that plan to be honest

Bring back the WFT's gold pants in 2021! Can do without the striped burgundy socks though.

Seeing how one of PLL's main goals is to grow the game, the barnstorming model may be the best way to achieve it. At least temporarily. The best way to grow LAX beyond it's northeast and Colorado stronghold is to bring high level LAX to those parts of the country that don't normally get to see it in person. You can't grow being limited to 8 cities, with 7 of them being in the same region of the country.
While I believe the PLL should ultimately transition to a traditional home city based model, I understand what they are trying to achieve with the tour model. This isn't MLS expansion we're talking about here. Soccer is the world's most popular sports. Lacrosse is still a niche sport that's trying to grow beyond it's niche status. Have to think outside the box to make it happen.

That looks good. I like that they're acknowledging/embracing the history.
When the PLL/MLL merger first broke, some of us here suggested the team should maintain the crossed cannons logo from it's MLL identity. Glad to see that stick around. Figured the PLL would acknowledge the Cannon's MLL legacy in some way.

The Panthers strike me as a team whose mother was the Raiders and she had an affair with one of the blue-heavy teams and everyone’s too afraid to ask who the father is
Detroit Lions. Lions blue and Panthers blue are close to each other in shade and/or saturation. You could swap each teams' shade of blue and there wouldn't be much of a visual difference IMO.

I've mentioned before that if the Carolina Panthers were to get new uniforms (since Jerry Richardson is gone now) this is what I'd personally like to see
- Blue helmets with black facemasks
- New Panther head logo not made to resemble the shape of the Carolinas
- Silver dropped as a uniform color, but would be okay with silver or gray used as an accent color in the logo
- Blue primary/home jerseys as I personally dislike when team wear white jerseys at home (Panthers tend to wear white at home often in the early part of the season). Hopefully a lighter colored home jerseys would convince them not to go WAH
- Black jerseys become alternates
- Blue, white and black pants
- Blue and black socks
- Maintain the same number font
- Official gameday uniform combinations would be (jersey/pants/socks); Primary home: blue/white/blue; Home alts; blue/blue/black, blue/black/blue, black/white/black, black/blue/black, black/black/blue; Primary road: white/blue/black; Road alts: white/white/blue, white/black/blue; Color rush options: all blue and all black
- Any uniform combinations not mentioned in the previous point would be available in the Madden games only

The smoke graphic at the bottoms of the Cannons jerseys would look better paired up with white shorts.
