  1. Second year in a row I've been pleasantly surprised by the turn out for the PLL in Minnesota. And that little stadium at the Vikings HQ is impressive watching on TV. Only downside obviously is the football/Vikings marks sewn into the turf. If the PLL decides to put a team in MN whenever they switch the league model, I'd hope this stadium would be their home field (if possible once the Vikings start training camp).

With the Chrome loss last night, the Whipsnakes become the last undefeated PLL team for the 3rd time in 4 seasons. The outlier they were second to last team. They play the Waterdogs tonight. One thing the PLL is great at is parody, but it's really fun that there's a Golden State Warriors-esque team right out of the gate

    And down go the Whipsnakes!

College sports are cool because of the regionalism. So it's nice to see that being killed.

Honestly that's the main reason I began following D2 football in recent years. Regionalism is still alive in the lower levels of college sports. I watch major D1 sports when I want to see top tier athletes. I watch lower divisions when I need to experience a more tradition based atmosphere.

  4. Possibly an unpopular opinion. The Bledsoe era uniforms are the best in Patriots history! The Brady era unis were a downgrade, the red jersey/Pat Patriot unis are overrated, and the current unis are a just a lame mashup of those two eras.

  5. I'm legit surprised anybody liked the Northwestern jerseys with the stripes on the midsection. I never thought that looked good.

Those new uniforms look good. Especially the P/P/W combo. Could live without the black and white helmets, but it is what it is. Modern day programs love their options.

  6. FWIW the Florida Tuskers of the short lived UFL had helmets in the same shade of blue as the Carolina Panthers, and they looked pretty darn in action.

For a while now I've been hoping the Panthers would get new uniforms where they drop silver and promote their blue to primary color status.

No major uniform changes for PLL teams. Champion logo replaced Adidas and three stripes removed from the shoulder.

The facemasks on the Whipsnakes teal helmets are white now. The Cannons were wearing white helmets in camp. That's about it.

SN: IMO the Whipsnakes do not need to any decals on their teal helmets (they've been using a "Whips" word mark). The snakeskin pattern does more than enough to identify this team. Just imagine if the Cincinatti Bengals had a word mark decal on their helmets in addition to the tiger stripes.

  8. Random thought came into my mind watching Maryland vs Cornell.

Would the NCAA men's lacrosse finals draw well if it were held in Denver? I know LAX is big in the Denver area, but would people from the northeast be likely to make the trip (excluding students/family/fans of the participating teams)?

I know a guy here in the DC area that pretty much goes to the finals every year. Those have been trips to Baltimore, Philly, Boston and Hartford though. Two locations of which are easy car trips from the DC area. Not so sure he'd make the cross country flight to Denver though.

Why couldn't Houston wear orange for this?

Aren't the black kits their primaries now? Seem like they've only worn orange this season when they have to clash.

I also wonder if they plan to just keep the league on the East Coast or if they'll split it between East and West.

That's THE main reason PLL has a tour based schedule instead of the traditional city based model. The PLL is actively trying to expand high level lacrosse beyond the east coast. There's many locations out west, down south and the midwest the PLL hasn't even taken the tour yet. If I had to guess, the PLL will run under the touring model for at least a decade before the switch to a city based model.

Gotta give people outside the east coast (and Denver) a reason to care. Randomly sticking teams in other parts of the country without building interest would lead to quick failure. Look up all the MLL teams placed outside the east coast and how quickly those teams shut down compared to their northeast based counterparts.

Wasn't Boston Cannons joining the NLL?

No. When the PLL absorbed MLL the Cannons identity was the only one to crossover. The Cannons Lacrosse Club became the PLL's 8th team. FWIW Rabil mentioned the PLL's long term goal is to eventually go to a traditional city based model. You'd have to image the Cannons wouldn't be allowed to go anyplace but the Boston area whenever that day comes.

  12. You know what I find weird? The sites for the D1 quarterfinals are Shuart Stadium at Hofstra and Ohio Stadium at Ohio State.

One of these things is not like the other.

Did Ohio State really just want to host the quarterfinal games or something? Wouldn't Historic Crew Stadium have been a much more sensible site? One stadium seats under 12K, while the other seats over 100K. I just don't understand how or why this came to be.

  13. PLL's 2022 broadcast schedule has been announced. Mostly ESPN+ games. Luckily, I have the plus now (thank you Hulu). I talked a lot of trash about the existence of that app, but once it became part of my Hulu package I instantly realized how much it comes in handy when there's nothing good on TV. I've watched an insane amount of college baseball and softball in the last couple of weeks.

    Anyways here it is.

Why do so many people dislike red and yellow together as uniform colors? Been comments like this my whole life. Whether it was about the old Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks, or a little league baseball team. I just don't get. I think the Star looked good today, and that most red and yellow team uniforms also look good.

There have been a few close calls in the MLS so far.

    When's the contract up?

    You'll see improvement then.

But what company would realistically outbid Adidas for MLS at this point? If Nike, Puma, Umbro, etc didn't do so the last time around what reason do we have to believe they do it next time?

Each team should have at least three different colors for their goalkeepers to avoid all clashes. But when Orlando's wearing purple, why is the keeper in black?

Honestly thought goalkeepers were given every color option their club's manufacturer provides, and selects what they'll based on overall contrast against their teammates and the opposing team 🤷🏿‍♂️
