Now I’m sitting here, trying to figure out how many professional, North American, sports mascots I’ve eaten. 🤔

If we're just going by official team name I've eaten beef (Chicago Bulls), marlin, stingray and shark. Didn't care for shark the time I had it.

If we're including nicknames and mascots to the mix, then I can add chicken (some MLB team has/had a chicken mascot), pork (Commanders with hogs) and rabbit (the Sixers had a rabbit mascot during the Iverson years)

Oh... and I've drank Reb Bull before, so I've crossed over into MLS too

Dan Snyder choosing to represent his team with a pig, something traditionally considered either dirty and ugly or delicious when cooked, is probably the most fitting choice he could have made.

In fairness most animals are delicious when cooked properly.  Haven't eaten any NFL animals (yet) but I can tell you firsthand that marlins and stingrays are tasty. Would eat again. I generally enjoy beef, but I don't think there's a way to tell if the burger on your plate came from a bull or a cow 🤷🏾‍♂️

  3. Saw a quick glimpse of Washington players warming up in all burgundy on NBC.... I'd personally like to see how that combination would look with gold socks. Jalen Ramsey convinced me yellow/gold socks can look good with certain uniforms. I want to believe burgundy/burgundy/gold would be a good combination for the Commanders.

SN: the Rams should totally bring yellow socks into the fold to be worn with their blue pants next season.

  4. North Carolina Central appears to be wearing new maroon jerseys in the Celebration Bowl. Nothing fancy, the have white numbers, letters and Northwestern sleeve stripes. A major upgrade from the maroon jerseys they've been wearing which had dark gray numbers with a white outline. Didn't have much visibility on the maroon.

Maryland vs NC State for Duke’s Mayo Bowl.

Let’s just hope the trophy stays intact this year

I may tune in to that one. Was always a good game when Maryland played NC State in the ACC from 2001 up to Maryland joined the Big Ten.

UNLV's turf field, same as last year.

Both fields use the Raider's yard line numbers though which I find kind of interesting. Looks like the Mountain West logo is still somewhat visible on the 25 too, hopefully they get that out by game time.

Didn't realize the site changed last year. Until the post earlier I thought it was still being played in Santa Clara 🤷🏿‍♂️

  7. I thought the ACC was going to switch from divisions to a pod model where each team has four ACC opponents they play every season, and rotate through the rest of the conference each season?

The podmates would generally be long time rivals. For example. North Carolina's pod would likely be NC State, Duke, Wake Forest & Virginia

I can't wait for these uniforms it has been a long time coming. Hopefully they can keep the grey and green alternates as well.

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but I never understood the hoopla over those old Seahawks uniforms. Those made them the third blue and silver team in the league with some green stripes and an ugly logo. The 2002 unis gave them unique colors and a much needed upgrade on the logo.  I understand some people weren't fans of monochrome slate blue becoming their primary look, but even on the rare instances they wore slate blue over white, or white or slate blue it looked significantly better than the silver era uniforms imo 🤷🏿‍♂️

That's different; no NFL team actually plays within the NYC confines.

Unlike Red Bull, the Giants and Jets actually played home games in NYC for decades before moving to Jersey.  With the exception of 1 US Open Cup match in the late nineties, Red Bull has only played in NYC as visitors at Yankee Stadium.

  10. When they first announced the Championship Series was going to be a winter tournament, I assumed it was going to be held some place warm like Florida or California. It's going to be at an indoor sports facility in nearby Springfield, Virginia called The St. James which I never heard of before today.

  11. This was a surprise coming from The Soccer Tournament. You see many college alum teams in The Basketball Tournament, but yet to see a pro team (from anywhere around the world) participate in it. Wonder if any other established soccer clubs will have teams in TST? I doubt any MLS clubs would since they have Next Pro starting up soon and TST will likely run concurrent to that league's season.

Why not both? I don't think the Jets Bold wordmark and the 80s airplane are incompatible with one another:

Somebody send this to Jets headquarters ASAP. Put a white facemask on the helmet it's even better.
