  1. Laval Rocket have a larger attendance and more seats. And that's just a suburb of Montreal. The League though is banking that buck with Arizona TV network money, even though the ratings are weak as usual. The team had to reduce tickets prices though because they risk struggling to fill those 5000 seats. If they have to go out of their way to try to fill half of a regular arena, the enthusiasm for the Coyotes isn't all that great.
  2. Yellow numbers are better. The Blues won the Cup in their white jersey sporting the standard blue numbers that they've always had. So switching them home numbers back to yellow wouldn't affect the legacy of their Championship win.
  3. They dimmed the lights at the top, to cover up the bleachers.
  4. Watching game 1 of the World Series on FOX and the pre-game intro is a choir singing Bray Wyatt's "He's got the whole world in his hands".
  5. The Canucks (Vancouver happens to be Bedard's home town) haven't won a game yet, after 6 games. I knew my Habs would have lots of competition in the Bedard Derby. But some teams I did not expect to be this bad. The Oilers could add another generational stud to their roster that's still devoid of a passable goaltender for the playoffs and regular season.
  6. It's absolutely working....at making me change the channel. No need for motion sickness, when I could watch the MLB Playoffs, instead.
  7. Big 4 sports jerseys have a certain aesthetic appeal, to make large sales. Most fans refuse to buy jerseys with ads of them. Merch sales overall are a bit different, compared to Nascar. At least there's no flashing ads during races to steal attention away from the racecars every 2 seconds.
  8. Don't know if it's just me. But is anyone else seeing this constantly popping up all the time? There's a large rectangle that always appears on the boards telling me to turn off Adblock Plus. But I'm not using Adblock Plus.
  9. “over time, like everything else, people will get used to it, and we're not concerned at all whatsoever.” - Keith Watchel, NHL Executive Vice President & Chief Revenue Officer.
  10. I understand companies need to make money. They need ads to promote their product. But there's a way to do so without insulting your paying customers that tune in to watch their team play. To disrupt to the entire game is taking it too far. Even though they're still making a ton of money, companies are still mad that viewers use commercials for bathroom breaks, to go get a snack, or when they play music over the intermission ads in restaurants. So now, they're trying new ways to make sure that their ads are shoved down our throats.
  11. These may be equally bad or worse than jersey ads.
  12. I'm watching the Habs game on City TV and holy those digital pop up ads on the boards and ice are an annoying distraction.
  13. Because it wouldn't be visible enough, if it's hidden in a spot too close to the big crest. It defeats the purpose. Sponsors would not want the Captain's C or anything else getting in the way of their ad and the space around it.
  14. YIKES! Nice to see that AutoNation gets top priority jersey space over the League's own patch.
  15. I think the yoke and pants combined balance out the navy well enough. A lot of fans probably just don't associate orange with being the main Oilers color with those dark accents, even though I think it looks great. The old Sens logo is flawed in several places, but fans still wanted it over any of the updated ones. It's because of team history that they went back to the old. There's a lot of factors to consider, when presenting a change to a franchise look. Aesthetics is not the only thing that needs to be considered.
  16. Unpopular Opinion: I enjoy the Oilers orange and navy more than the dynasty royal blue and orange. Visually, the old ones were much nicer to look at.
  17. They have failed this city and the rest of Canada...
  18. Montreal are 0-6-2 in the preseason. The race is on.
  19. You know what else makes this uniform matchup so special? No ads on either team.
  20. Either on the shoulder patch or the upper arm. If teams fill those spots with ads too, then there won't be much room left.
