  1. It's going to take a little while to get used of the black numbers. But it's a good choice of font.
  2. Yeah, if the ratings tank, that could send a message too.

  4. This is what the current logo would look like with matching outlines.
  5. Don't know if it was brought up yet or not... Big 4 pro sports jerseys and apparel are major sellers, specifically because they have designs that look nice and stand out, specifically to make large merch sales and lots of cash. I don't believe MLS make as many jersey sales as the NHL, MLB, NFL, or NBA. Soccer needs the sponsorship money because their niche audience isn't as large. Now I see RBC going out of their way to sell Habs jerseys to fans with ads on them, by using the sick kids charity tactic. Companies clearly want to turn the Sainte Flanelle into their own personalized guinea pigs for corporate advertising. Chances are RBC doesn't care about hockey or watch Habs games. Perhaps if jersey sales with ads plummet, they'll put a stop to their littering on professional sports. If money talks and fans are that revolted, fans need to speak with their wallet.
  6. I don't think this would be well received, if the Yankees did this, in 5 years from now...
  7. Very good point. Manufacturers want to sell merchandise, which is why their label on the piece of merch doesn't take away from the visual aesthetics. Corporations want to make money by turning soccer players and racecars into walking billboards and billboards on wheels.
  8. The tricky thing is that even is Nike had no hand in producing these jerseys whatsoever, the swoosh may come off as a manufacturing tag, even if it isn't. If the mismatching crest that's still loaded with orange was fixed, it would be a lot better. The crest should match the shoulder patches that contain thick black outlines with a thin teal trim. Secondary logos are totally devoid of orange.
  9. The Nike swoosh is small symbol all in one color that I can compare to vintage hockey jerseys that had the CCM manufacturing brand stamp on the uniform. --- RBC slapped a large light blue and yellow patch from an outside company onto a red, royal blue, and white jersey. The Yankees are still monotone. The Habs now have 5 colors.
  10. They knew Montreal fan outrage was incomming. Had they unveiled jersey ads on a regular day when nothing was going on, it would have got hectic on social media.
  11. I'm glad it's not KHL level of cringe (yet). But I'm still in agreement with you that it's a needless addition and a big downgrade, compared to ad-free jerseys. On the day Nick Suzuki was named team Captain to univeral acclaim, they also received the complete opposite reaction when unveiling their new jersey ads sponsor. I could tell that they're feeling the heat of the negative comments because they have to bring up the CHC Kids Foundation, to justify jersey ads. Sponsors have been helpful before, even pre-ads. The youth aid organization has been up and running for a while. The ads only bring the uniforms down. It's a disgrace how it sticks out more than the CH logo itself, the same logo that was worn by legends like Jacques Plante, Guy Lafleur, Maurice Richard, Saku Koivu, etc. Imagine the Yankees with a big ugly red Papa John's patch slapped on the front of the most sacred baseball uniform of all-time.
  12. I'll add to this, to further elaborate why I think ads on uniforms is a croc of that only benefits the ones that need it the least. Major profitable corporations who are high priority sponsors will always have first dibs for ad space on the players in the spots that are the most visible. The companies who make less money, many of which who were hit hard by the pandemic, will have to settle for their same tiny little space on the arena boards. And then when other big companies see what's happening, they're going to want in as well. So, chances are it will start with one small ad, and then the NHL may turn into the Euro League. It feels like these execs have a juvenile mentality, wanting to show off that they make more billions than all the other billionaires.
  13. What a Leafs jersey would look like with ads...
  14. Facebook was founded in the same year. But it was in the early stages where no one knew about it, when it was originally called TheFacebook.
  15. It's true that if businesses only care about money, they'll do anything for an extra amount of spare change. They have more than enough money to live comfortably for the rest of their lives. They can already afford fine dining every week. They'll do it for control or whatever other motives. On the other hand, teams with decades of traditonal uniforms deserve to have the integrity of their look preserved. It also goes for new teams who are building their history as well. It goes for anyone, really. I would find it tasteless, if an already profitable franchise like the Montreal Canadiens turned some of the most sacred uniforms in the league into giant McDonalds ads.
  16. I wouldn't be surprised if (or should I say when) they fail to fill the building, Gary Bettman will pay for seat fillers. They'll need an instructor to remind them to make noise and cheer on cue lol.
  17. They don't need to ruin the uniforms for corporate greed. Over time, NHL players would turn into moving billboards on skates...
  18. The Pittsburgh Penguins should have done with the Arizona Cardinals did to their logo. Take the classic skating penguin, fix up some of the outlines, re-trace the gloves/skates, and add some better looking tape to the stick, etc. I saw a thread a while back where someone was polishing up old logos, to make them look better. Now we have the technology. Back then, the logo designers software was more limited.
  19. They slapped the 2010s rebrand logo on the new 2022 teal and black only look. I see that the new shoulder logo contains no orange whatsoever and thick black outlines to sorta match the new stripes. They forgot to make one or two small changes to the orange outlines within the crest. The primary logo is more important than the shoulder logo. The orange hockey stick is fine because a hockey stick is made of wood and the SJ shade of orange is okay for that. The eye is fine too. But the crest triangle stripes really need an adjustment, if that's the jerseys they're going with.
  20. Decent logo. Nice use of the Maroons colors and the Fleur-de-lis pattern is a nice touch.
