  1. Largest Super Bowl rings ever according to Jostens! Glad Pats did not disappoint, the rings look huge, almost 20% than the 2004 ring. I wish Jostens would list the weight in grams, but it appears different size rings will have different weight. Regardless they should all be at least 100 grams.
  2. Second worst rings to Blacksox only. Zero points for originality, awful shanks, reminds of poor job done by DCi on Denver SB rings.
  3. Wow, they got the rings really cheap: According to multiple websites: The rings Ohio State received on Friday were designed by the team, and these are more shiny. The National Championship rings have the Ohio State logo prominently displayed. The Big Ten Championship rings have a Block O imposed over the conference championship trophy. The three rings are worth a total of $828, according to ESPN. The National Championship ring given by the College Football Playoff cost $415 and has more than 50 cubic zirconias. The national title ring designed by Ohio State cost $209, within the $375 limit allowed by the NCAA. The Big Ten rings cost $204, within the $325 limit allowed by the NCAA.
  4. Top is very simple and not a good contrast. They should have incorporated OSU's logo on top of the ring. MSU Rose Bowl ring looks much better.
  5. SF Giants World Series rings are handed out on April 18th, rings made by Tiffany. Next two months should be busy with all the college championship rings coming out too. All capped by Pats SB ring in June, hoping to be the mother of all championship rings.
  6. Pats are working on their rings, will be handed out in June according to ESPNBOSTON.com: New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft was a guest on the Fox Business Network on Friday morning, and here are a few sound bites from his interview with Maria Bartiromo: Super Bowl ring in the works. “We’re in the process now, a number of companies are working on design of the ring and we’ll have a big party in my backyard in June and present them, and hopefully have a lot of fun with that. You never know if it’s going to happen again, so you like to make it special.” I am guessing largest ever SB rings, 120 grams
  7. I took this pic off of ESPN TV. It's Ray Lewis SB XXXV MVP ring given to him by owner Steve Biscotti in 2014 when Ray retired and entered Raven's ROH. I guess after David Ortiz MVP ring these rings are becoming popular. Ray said he loves the ring and stopped wearing his SB rings, since this ring is unique, one of a kind.
  8. Largest ever, hope the top the 135 grams Heat rings!
  9. Wow....something new everyday. We all know how large Pats rings are. I am thankful to Mike for having posted pics of all Pats rings. However I found something interesting today. Rings attached are rings given to a former Pats executive. Do you see anything strange about them? Well I do. The middle ring is the 2003 SB ring, it was at the time one of the largest and heaviest rings at close to 100 grams of 14 K gold (Mike would have the exact weight). The Pats ring increasingly got bigger in size. First ring was in 72 grams range, second ring about 100 grams and 2004 ring officially listed as 115 grams, although appears more like 105. However in this picture, the middle ring which is the 2003 ring is not only not larger than 2001 ring, but smaller!? Having looked at almost all available Pats rings online this is the first time I have seen the ring being smaller than 2001 ring. A visual inspection next to pics that Mike has posted, verifies the ring being smaller than 2001 ring and much more smaller compared to 2004 ring. I have no idea how that could be? How come this particular ring is so much smaller. We know Pats gave staff a completely looking different ring, so it is not that. Sometime staff rings might be smaller, but then how come the other 2 are regular size? The only explanation I can think of is that they did what Red sox did in 2004. They gave players and executive staff choice between getting the Large championship ring or the Jumbo ring, which was about 20% larger and heavier Anyone else cares about this topic enough to make a comment?
  10. Cant believe what I am seeing. Prototype Pats 2004 ring. 2 differences I noted, obviously Pats logo on top and wording is "CHAMPS" instead of Champions
  11. Fantastic rings man, did you just buy the NFC ring? Congrats, both look great. This forum went south fast. Hopefully with all these 39 Bowls we get some action again in a few months, otherwise next stop April for WS ring.
  12. What happened to this thread? It was like 95 pages, now we are 85? Am I making a mistake or are some of the posts missing?
  13. Those SF rings are pretty cool man, thanks for posting them. I had seen a picture of bottom left one, I had heard it was made by Balfour, but obviously don't know if that is true. I think both bottom rings look better than the Tiffany one they went with. I'd really like to see the shanks, they look pretty good. TIffany shanks are the simplest shanks I have ever seen, there is practically nothing on them. What they put on the shanks which is score of the post season games are information that Jostens puts inside the shanks.
  14. I like it. Obviously a popular design by Jostens. Reminds me of the SB rings of late 1990's to early 2000, they use the same design over and over, see how long it will last.
  15. I was surprised to see former MLB player Gene Tenace selling few of his WS rings. This guy had some amazing WS championship rings. He won 3 rings with Oakland A's as a player from 1972-74, another with St. Louis in 1982. He wins 2 rings as first base coach with Toronto Blue Jays. He goes back to St. Louis as a coach and gets another WS ring in 2006 and a 2004 NL ring. Total of 7 WS rings and one NL ring with 3 different clubs. Unfortunately he has severe arthritis in his hands and more often than not he can not wear the rings, also he is selling his rings in various auctions, I don't know why. He was one of those guys who always wore one of his rings. He was in the big leagues for 40+ years as a player and coach, he does not look like someone who would have had a lavish life style and lost all his money. Last I had heard, he was retired, living in a small town in Oregon by choice, who knows....maybe he gave it to charity instead of bunch of rings sitting in a box somewhere never seeing the light of day....hope all is well with him.
  16. Hey Mike that Rochester ring is so unique. Do you have any more pics? And idea who made it? How many grams?
  17. They put so much time and effort to come up with these rings, just amazing. ITs not that all NCAA Final Four rings are look the same, now even the school ordered rings also look the same
  18. First Dallas Mavericks A ring I have seen for sale, and of course it is PSA/DNA certified so who could argue with that! lol' Picture next to either a C or D ring, both are on sale on ebay. Mavericks had 7 different tier of rings, including the "Friend and Family" ring.
  19. I am glad you guys like the information, major typo I had, Jostens bought Intergold in 2010, not 2002. 2002 is the year they took off by making the 2002 Redwings ring. Based on the Redwings ring, 2002 Angles World Series ring, 1999 FSU ring and all the Grey Cup rings they had done in Canada, they were able to get the 2003 Marlins ring. Owner of Marlins, Jeffrey Lauria is an art dealer, he did not just want just any world series ring, he wanted "the mother of all rings", a piece of art, he did not want just another generic ring by Balfour or Jostens who were the biggest ring makers and Tiffany at that time had no interest in producing what Lauria wanted as they had only done the 1992 Toronto ring as a favor to the owner and in 1993 when Toronto won again, they just made the same identical ring. At the time Tiffany did not have a championship ring division and had no interest in committing the time and energy to what Lauria wanted. Due to cost of of the rings, Lauria also wanted different versions of the rings made so they ended up with 5 different ring tiers which up to that time was not done either. It took weeks for Lauria and Intergold to finalize the design which included weekly trips and making many samples for him. The final A ring then became the largest, the heaviest and the most expensive rings ever produced event to this time. The eye of the Marlin in a rare teal diamond that was obtained in Israel and is only found on A rings, the other versions have a synthetic colored diamonds. Towards the end Lauria also wanted a watch added to the ring, which Intergold was able to do about a year later and as far as I know there are only 5 rings available like that, worn by Lauria and 4 more he gave to certain team executives. 2003 Stanley cup ring also helped the reputation of the company, having again produced a unique ring with blue diamonds (they could not find enough stones, so some of the diamond were colored through a special process, but they are all genuine diamondsm they also made 6 different ring tiers). Although Intergold was able to make championship rings on yearly basis but they just could not compete with Balfour and Jostens as far as cost of rings, as they had to pay more for diamond and gold due to doing less volume. In 2008 and 2009 they had to bring in Balfour as partner to do the Celtics NBA rings and Penguins Stanley cup rings. Balfour could provide Intergold with gold and diamond they needed for rings, for much less cost than what Intergold had to pay. As teams do not pay for the rings upfront, they only pay once all the rings are delivered. So essentially for 5-6 moths company has to buy the gold and diamond upfront and make the rings on their own dime till after rings were actually delivered, that is not something Intergold could do long term. Jostens also under new ownership in 2009 decided to revamp their championship division and instead of it being a nest loss aspect of their business to find a way to actually make money on the rings. That is when they approached Intergold and convince its owner to sell the company and then take over the jewelery design side of the business as Master Jeweler which he did. Since then Jostens has made more unique rings compared to all the previous years. I will have some more on Pat Riley and Jostens rings later on today.
  20. I have to say, the best ring designs were by small Canadian company called Intergold. Th owner was an actual jeweler and personally designed all the rings. He got his big break by doing the 1999 FSU ring and based on that they got the Redwings 2002 and the company took off from there. If you look at their rings from there, 2002 Florida Marlins ring, 2003 Tampa;s Stanley cup ring are in my opinion amongst the top 5 destines of all time. Last ring they did was the 2009 Penguins Stanley cup ring which was later on copied by Jostens for the Bruins and Blackhawks Stanley cup rings. He was of the opinion that Jostens and Balfour were not jewelers, they were tool and dye makers and once they found the template they liked they kept producing the same rings, as you guys mentioned here, all the early 2000 SB rings and all the mid 2000 conference championship rings. Despite producing NHL, NBA and MLB rings however intergold could never get a Superbowl ring and eventually could not keep up with costs associated with producing the rings which are mostly not money makers for companies but great for advertising and bringing in customers for their other products. In 2002 Jostens bought Intergold and made the owner its Master Jeweler who has been since in charge of making the rings. He is the one pushing the rings to 90+ grams and has produced some nice rings, such as the Mavericks NBA ring, Blackahwks rings, Miami Heat rings, Cardinals rings. I am glad to see Tiffany involved in making rings now, although I think their rings are too small but they have had some great designs.
