  1. Not really any specific plaid heritage, but there’s the lumberjack angle and I suppose the hipster flannel angle as well. Plus there’s the stripes on the PDX flag that can pretty easily form a plaid pattern. In a broader sense, Oregon has a pretty extensive history with woolen mills as well. I’ll be curious to see the marketing speak for the kit, as I could realistically see any of the above reasons being mentioned. I really hope the Timbers never go the PDX carpet route. Now that the Blazers have done it, I think I’ve had my fix on that theme and I think most fans here would agree. The Timbers have had some PDX carpet hats and other merch, but I don’t really care to see more.
  2. Mockup of what the Whitecaps’ new primary kit could look like based on what was seen at MLS Media Day (below):
  3. I kind of touched on this earlier, but while green & gold may be what non-Timbers fans associate with the Timbers nowadays (after the 2017 color change, at least), green and white and a green/white/gold scheme are just as synonymous with the Timbers around here. Since they’ve had three straight home kits that were more gold-heavy (or just green & gold, in the case of the 2017/18 home kit), I think it’s fitting to go more white-heavy this time around. Sort of a nod to the early MLS days, but also the pre-MLS eras and iterations of the Timbers when the scheme was often more green & white or green/white/yellow:
  4. Here’s confirmation of the Timbers’ new primary kit: Really can’t wait to see the close-up shots and to see what the jocktag and other little details look like. Also can’t wait to see the kit with white shorts.
  5. I think the shirt very well could look better with the adidas stripes being gold, but having seen the full kit I actually like the white quite a bit and can appreciate them taking a different direction after three straight home kits with gold Adidas stripes. It’s interesting, throughout the different iterations of the Timbers (even just in their original 8 year NASL run) there have been times where they were basically just green and white, other times where they were basically just green and gold, and times where the gold and white coexisted on the kits. All three approaches feel uniquely “Timbers” and I think there’s a case to be made for all three schemes as to which is the best or most appropriate. I’m not sure they’ll ever really be able to beat their 2017/18 green & gold primaries, but I thought the balance between gold and white in their 2019/20 hooped kits was pretty carefully considered. I feel the same with this new kit; I think having the adidas stripes match the logo and name/number colors is pretty key in achieving a successful balance. Lets one color be a little more dominant than the other. To this day one of my favorite kit combos the Timbers have worn in MLS is the white/green/white combo with their 2018/19 secondaries. Mostly white and green with nice gold touches as well. I feel like this new kit is a pretty successful flip of the script, mostly green and white but with tasteful gold accenting as well.
  6. I guess I get your point, but the side/back hem stripe on the shirt is gold, while the shorts have the gold trim on the back hem to match. Similar to the Japan home kit with the red side and back hem stripes: I’d say it’s pretty cohesive overall, with the three stripes and adidas logos being white on all three kit elements and the gold side and back hem stripes matching on the shirt and shorts. I wish there was a tiny bit of gold on the socks, but that’s a minor quibble. For me the kit has a similar approach to the 2019/20 hooped home kit, but with the gold and white smartly swapped in terms of which is the primary accent color this time around.
  7. More leaks below. - NYCFC back to navy accents on their home kit. Looks like a good amount of orange too! Grid plan design on the shirt??? - Looks like the Quakes’ new shirt at least starts out blue. - Orlando finally with metallic gold accents again. - Cincy sticking with the navy and adding more white (why?!)
  8. I would love to see a road version. In an ideal world they’d rock both like Cal did with their home and away Joe Roth throwbacks this year.
  9. Again I don’t have confirmation, but from what I’ve heard I’m not totally convinced it won’t just be the ‘94/95 throwbacks again.
  10. The Ducks will be sticking with their current uniforms for one more year, but there will still be new stuff as well. Always possible that there’ll be a couple helmet tweaks like there were this year, but more likely that there’ll be a one-off uniform. If what I’ve heard is accurate, it sounds like it’ll be of the throwback variety
  11. Shorts and socks of the Timbers’ new primary kit, plus a small glimpse at the shirt. White adidas stripes for the first time since their 2015 cup-winning primary kit. Very interested to see the full thing. I loved their 2019/20 hooped primary kit that included both white and gold accents, so I think this has the potential to be great. I had previously heard that the shirt features plaid, but I can’t tell from this pic whether or not that’s accurate.
  12. Small glimpse at Vancouver’s new primary shirt here. Looks like it might feature horizontal pinstripes in light blue.
  13. Might Toronto be going with a dark gray primary shirt? In this pic of Insigne, you can see the bottom of the shirt in gray and the red side/back hem stripe. Could potentially be something like hoops, too, but it looks like the back of the shirt will definitely be gray.
  14. Shorts and socks for the Quakes’ new primary kit: Meanwhile, check out the pattern Orlando City is starting to use in their social media graphics: Looks almost identical to the pattern on the current Tigres away. Would expect to see it on the kit, perhaps in a horizontal orientation instead of diagonal.
  15. The Dynamo are going with black shorts for their new primary kit:
  16. A few interesting things here. First, you can see the Apple TV logo on all three players. Second, looks like Ruidiaz’s jersey already has a new sponsor logo on it but his hands and arms are covering most of it. Third, a look at the blue keeper jersey for this year. Same as the World Cup keeper kits, which was to be expected.
  17. Slightly different, yes. These are the details listed on the Adidas site for the World Cup anthem jackets: - Slim fit - Full zip with stand-up collar - Side A: 100% recycled nylon plain weave - Side B: 100% recycled polyester twill - Side A: Zip pockets; Side B: Front pockets - Reversible
  18. Glimpse at SKC’s new primary kit. Light blue shorts and socks once again. If you look closely you can just barely see the navy trim on the back hem of the shorts, and you can also see a tiny bit of what looks to be a navy collar on the shirt (maybe a henley?). Also our first look at the inside (reverse side) of the new anthem jackets, which follow the same pattern as the WC anthem jackets (printed and stacked logos on the left chest and no adidas stripes).
  19. Yeah, although unfortunately it looks like they’ll just be solid colors on both sides instead of incorporating designs from the jerseys.
  20. First up on today’s leaks, a glimpse at Atlanta’s shorts and socks and a tiny glimpse at Cincy’s new primary shirt:
  21. Tomorrow is apparently MLS Media Day in San Jose. In the past this event has produced quite a few glimpses at new kit elements (for teams getting new primary kits, at least). Would expect to see some of the new shorts and socks, but also possible that one of the jerseys accidentally gets leaked as well.
  22. In other news, the Whitecaps posted a press release this morning saying that their shirt sponsorship deal with Bell has come to an end: https://www.whitecapsfc.com/news/thank-you-bell Decent chance that they’ll be sponsorless for at least part of the season, or they may already have secured another sponsor that’ll be announced before the season.
  23. Just a player announcement: Apparently Westwood is a tea aficionado, hence the tea theme of yesterday’s teaser. The pink date in that teaser video does seem like a hint at the kit, but I wouldn’t put stock in any of the tea theming or the nail polish color. I’d be pretty surprised to see any of the new kits revealed before February.
  24. Quality looks pretty decent for the most part. As for the differences between replica and authentic, you hit on most of the things to look out for based on past years and the St. Louis authentic & replica shirts that are already for sale. Wouldn’t surprise me if the Atlanta authentic ended up having contrasting cuffs or cuff trim, but several of Adidas’ World Cup shirts were without cuff detailing altogether. One disappointing thing that I’m just now noticing is that it appears the replica shirts will have the epaulette-esque adidas stripes that cut off at the top of the shoulder instead of the longer stripes that continue slightly down the arm. Notice the difference between the authentic and replica St. Louis shirts here: The replicas of the World Cup shirts of course had the longer stripes that matched the authentics, so add this to the list of disparities.
