This is pretty close to my “dynamic playoff” idea. Keep the Classic Bowl tie-ins: Big Ten vs. PAC Rose Bowl, Big 8 vs ACC Orange Bowl, SEC in the Sugar, SWC in the Cotton, Big East and G5 champ in somewhere. (We also make proper conferences again) If at the end of those bowl games there’s one undefeated team— Congrats, you’re the champion. If there’s two unbeaten teams, NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. I like the idea of the NCG being a sometimes thing. There have definitely been years where we didn’t need an extra game to know who the best team in the country was. Now, if there’s three unbeaten teams at the end of the year (or one-loss teams what have you) then it’s either an impromptu 4-team playoff with an at-large or we let the newspapers and teams decide. Either’s cool with me.

The committee believing Florida State is worse than Alabama but better than Georgia is one of the most egregious parts of this. If you truly believe Florida State to be inferior rank them seventh or some :censored:.

The SEC went 7-9 in Power Five non conference games. Sounds like a weak conference to me.

I get why people think the committee will bend over backwards to put Bama/SEC in over more deserving teams but that’s just never been the case. Two times an SEC team has made it without winning its conference. One was 2017, where Alabama was the only one-loss option, every other P5 champion/good team had two losses. If you’re a UCF homer who thinks they should have made it instead, in that case mad respect welcome to the club, but its an unpopular cause the committee never takes seriously. For 2021, it was a very similar scenario. Georgia was one of two one-loss teams, with the other being a conference-less Notre Dame, who the committee didn’t reward for not playing an extra game. A Texas with a head to head road win over Bama is easily the strongest resume of the group, so it will be ranked ahead of them in the playoff poll. Alabama needs Michigan or Florida State to lose. The committee snubbing an unbeaten P5 team or a one-loss team with a massive head-to-head win over another one-loss team is beyond unprecedented.

Tulane sold hard, they’re now out of the running for the G5 NY6 bid. Hopefully the committee goes with Troy or SMU, I really don’t wanna see the Fightin Falwells get that honor.

Don’t really have any strong thoughts for or against the In Season Tournament, but the running up the score for point differential aspect is great. If we’re ever gonna see a player threaten 100, this would be the circumstances to do it under.

In college he has been. Went 2-6-10-10 at Temple and 1-7-11 at Baylor. Disastrous NFL tenure sure, but no college coach who’d want to go to Nebraska is without their red flags. At least worth a shot to see if he’s still got it in him.
