A region getting to have a bye for no apparent reason is not only stupid, but unfair. Hopefully they can do some adjustments to the bracket down the road.

That's a bummer... because I would've actually like things (offseason and trades) to have worked out for San Diego. They won't even have their most notable star for pretty much the rest of the season. They're totally gonna get swept by LA in the NLDS and then the big offseason question will be around Soto.
Disappointment is calling.

"Dark mode" usually means black, but alright. It's not like Miami hasn't used a black alt before so I really don't know what they think they can do to be any different.

Being neck and neck with the Cardinals going down the stretch will haunt the Brewers. Milwaukee needs to have at least a ten game lead ahead of them in the division in order to feel remotely safe. I know how this will play out.

I can't find a valid link for it, but I thought I remember seeing a stat of the Red Sox a while back, citing their tenure since 2003. I think it said they have spent the most money through payroll in the league since then, even more than the Yankees or Dodgers and I think I believe it. They've had a lot of star players play for them in the 2000's and 2010's, half of them performing well and the other being complete duds. It shows just how much money the team has had, but I think everyone knew that part. Still, it's a good summary of the team in the new millennia. Very up and down, but their money and spending at least made things happen for them.
Four World Series titles out of all of it is pretty hard to argue against or complain about.

I didn't know he was with the Dodgers when they were still in Brooklyn. The fact that he left ship with them to LA shows how big his connection is with the franchise.

Ross is dumb. I feel like the Dolphins have a pretty good front office, but the owner just wants to meddle into things and do it his way... despite there being others that know far more about how a football team should be ran. It could be worse though... like being the owner, president, and general manager worse. *wink*

Unlike the Steelers, I hope they partner with a local sponsor. Third party corporate stadium names tend to always suck, but I would think something that is close by and tolerated by the locals would be more accepted. It won't though because profit is key here, so it'll probably be named after some banking company based in Texas.

Fashion trend? Well, I must be outdated and need to get with the times because that's pretty new to me.

I'd say Castillo is the best pitcher on the market, or at least the best one that was made available.
It's a nice addition. I don't expect Seattle to do anything in the playoffs if they make it, but damn I hope they make it.

Those Week 2 and 3 matchups for the Rams are gonna be rough, but we'll pull through.
That zigzag stitching on the Rams' nametag is still stupid, stupid, stupid. What's its purpose?!

Some of these teams probably are experimenting with the alternates just to add more ideas to a potential rebrand. The Patriots literally just promoted their previous alternate uniforms to primary status and called it a day, so it wouldn't surprise me to see teams like the Panthers, Texans, or Cardinals(?) do something similar.

It's like if a spaceship crashed into the Olympic Coliseum. That's what Soldier Field is.
No amount of add-ons or renovations are going to make me think otherwise.

CFB isn't meant to be competitive, not in the same sense as the pros. Few colleges dominate in recruiting while most may barely manage to get more than a top player. It's a good reason why we have divisions. Expanding the playoffs should happen, but at the same time, it will hardly make a difference. You'll still see the same teams in it more often than not.
I would say depending on the amount of power conferences we have in the future, have the winners of those conferences earn a bid while the other spots go to best GO5 school, along with the rest being determined by record and strength of schedule. With the B1G and SEC practically being Gods as of now, they'll likely be near-guaranteed to have an extra school in there.

That Cardinals concept actually isn't that bad. Dare I say good? Regarding the logo's face being the opening where the player's face is, it makes more sense in hindsight than having wings sprouting out your head (looking at the Eagles).

First time I'm seeing the standings for the league and after all the talk about the Yankees and them setting history, they have the Astros not far behind them. The rest of the AL isn't anywhere near close to them, yet we have up to five (six?) teams competing for those Wild Card spots. At least one of them are gonna trip over themselves and give it away.
The NL doesn't look much different from the last few years.

"The 5-pointed shield stands for the PNW"
Oh please
Was Montana ever considered part of that region? I always align them with the "Rocky Mountains" or "Big Sky Country."
The green looks a little dark in the logo. I thought I remember hearing about the Mariners brightening their Northwest Green a while back, where it looked near aquamarine.

Was there something else?
Don't think so. I didn't disappoint you, did I?
It was just a harmless nudge at the reaction to the topic at hand.

Let me make another bold prediction. The Eagles will keep the black helmet, and add a Kelly green helmet when the throwback jerseys are ready. They’ll decide to keep both, because honestly what’s stopping them. The NFL will then okay teams having an alternate helmet and a throwback helmet, as though they were ok with it all along
You want to bet against it?
1 hour ago, oldschoolvikings said:Oh, and another bold prediction. Every team (with the possible exception of the Packers and Raiders) that passed on this idea this year is watching the twitter hits, the espn.com blurbs, and the Facebook chatter, and kicking themselves for not getting in on this. Next year it’ll be damn near everyone.
Alright dude I think we got it.
Alt unis and helmets: Very bad!

A lot of money to give someone, just to flame out in the second half of the season.

The "letters inside a shape" has been done so many times. Sorry not sorry, but that comes to me as very un-unique and doesn't fit the Street Fighter franchise at all.

Honestly aren't as dull as I expected. They use Cavs more than they do their own full name so they might as well just move forward with that instead of Cavaliers. It's not like anything about their identity is timeless or ever will be.
I can't wait for the new uniforms in five years.

Juan Soto rejected the Nats offer of $440 million.
It's not about the money for him; he just doesn't want to be part of the rebuild, which is understandable. He'll probably be in either Dodger blue or pinstripes by seasons end.

The identity was abysmal pre CP3-Blake-Deandre Show. After that run was over (2017/2018?) they have not been considered as the Clippers of old.
Do you really think their previous identity change was any better? It was terrible when they released it then and is now. The logos suck and even with the following tweaks to the uniforms, they still aren't very good.
8 hours ago, FamousAtticus said:They were/have been continually tied to free agent rumors, signings, etc. and have a nucleus of talent in place.
Finally having a competent brass, along with being in the second largest destination market helps. Most of that wasn't always the case for them.
8 hours ago, FamousAtticus said:The Clippers identity is not much different than the Kings, decent names but a history of losing, with small pockets of success. I just dont believe those are grounds for a name/identity change. Cubs would agree.
I'd argue "a history of losing with small pockets of success" is enough to warrant a change. The Kings of all franchises aren't a great example to compare to, especially since they've changed their identity on numerous occasions throughout their history. In regards to the Cubs, baseball is far more traditional and Chicago has at the very least won two World Series titles in their early days, even appearing in a couple more afterwards. Still, they've made several tweaks to their look in their existence.

2022-2023 NHL Jersey Changes

Carolina should've never chosen red and black as their colors from Day 1. I don't know why they did (something about NC State?) but they had an opportunity to be different and create a standout identity.
The color diversity in the NHL is too small.
