  1. I often feel that way with new designs. I understand that concepts don't have the same constraints as designers who work with the apparel companies and teams to produce a final design, but they're often underwhelming compared to what these boards (and other designers) come up with.
  2. I already dislike them for making me wait this long. Should have been posted at 9 a.m. local time.
  3. I was expecting the Lions to unveil their alternate helmets today, as well. In hindsight, we should have known it wouldn't be happening since the tweet came from the Ford Field account and not the Lions' account.
  4. A retail source told me both the Cardinals and Panthers' jerseys will go on sale on April 25.
  5. I imagine it doesn't look much different than USC's home jersey. A good NFL equivalent for the thought process behind dropping the contrasting collar and numbers would be the Bengals, as well, at least in terms of space dedicated to the shoulder/sleeve design and overall emptiness of the shoulder.
  6. But Ohio State doesn't have a shoulder stripe that impedes upon that space, which is the point I was making. The Panthers' stripes reach to at least the bottom of the Buckeyes' numbers. You're absolutely right about this, though. They should just scrap the TV numbers at this point.
  7. Because their TV numbers are on the sleeves. Ohio State is the only team with TV numbers on the shoulder to wear the Vapor Fusion template to this point, and the Buckeyes obviously don't have a contrasting collar.
  8. That was my thought, as well, which is why I reached out for clarification. At the minimum, the numbers look bigger.
  9. Can confirm through multiple sources the Panthers (and most NFL teams for that matter) will be on Nike's Vapor Fusion template this season. Won't be able to get confirmation or further details from the Panthers until Tuesday, though. I have asked how that will impact their TV numbers and collar, as I suspect they may have larger numbers and no contrasting collar.
  10. Some clarification and transparency regarding the story on the front page. I must first start out by saying it absolutely classifies as a new uniform. It's very much like the Colts in 2020, when all they did was update the number font, added the secondary logo inside the collar and changed the color of the Nike swoosh on the white jersey. Not very notable to the casual fan, but it still classifies as a new design nonetheless. Secondly, there was a miscommunication between Chris and I about the silver, as you'll notice how I only tweeted about them getting new uniforms, not any potential changes. I had three very reliable sources (who have all shared NCAA and NFL with me accurately in the past) confirm to me that they were getting new uniforms, with all three telling me (off the record) the exact date they'll be revealed. However, one of those three sources indicated that silver would no longer be a part of the redesign. I regret that I didn't make it clear to Chris before he tweeted the story that I could only verify that information from one source, not all three, and that's why it was included at the bottom of the original story. My story should have focused solely on the new uniforms and not indicated any potential changes, and I apologize for that.
  11. This was an April Fool's joke, but I don't hate it as a one-time thing:
  12. I was disappointed with how the court was yellow inside the three-point line: Compare that with the graphic they shared in advance, which looked so much better, even with the hexagonal overlay they used in the tweet: I'm curious if that was a choice or if something went wrong during the assembly process, though I doubt a company that does this every year would make a mistake like that.
  13. This... And this... ...remind me of my submission for our Cardinals redesign contest: Piecing these rumors together, it's almost like they're going with the desert cardinal for their primary look and the maroon, orange, etc., look for a City Edition-style alternate.
  14. Yep. Combining white elements with a jersey that is completely devoid of white is an issue that currently plagues Baylor, Iowa State and West Virginia, among others.
  15. It's been quite the year for me, so you'll have to forgive me for still thinking it was 2022 for a minute. Have to think they quietly extended then.
  16. They have an actual contract. It was a three-year, $9 million deal that expires in May. The last time their contract expired in May 2019, they announced the new contract two months later after taking it to market. I anticipate something similar will happen again this year because they've been with Nike for decades.
  17. It is possible to be aware of (or even be knowledgeable about) the program before 2010 and still have the opinion that the flag is the superior brand. The only helmet that I think someone could possibly argue is superior is the 1997-2000 helmet, though the logo on the 1970 helmet is amazing by itself. The Terps Script is overrated, so please don't go there, though I do like it as a throwback uniform for the same reason I like other throwback uniforms that aren't superior to a team's current look. There's nothing wrong with tying their identity to the flag, as we've seen what can go wrong when they lean to far into a turtle shell and there's nothing uniquely Maryland in their history beyond what I've already mentioned (and the obvious one-time Fort McHenry helmet).
  18. I hope not. That *is* Maryland to me. The only change I'd hope to see is for the flag to cover the entire helmet. The back of it looks odd after they stopped painting MARYLAND across the back.
  19. Maybe whichever jersey they believe will sell the most? Those two things aren't always exclusive.
  20. My biggest gripe with these uniforms (and the throwback hockey uniforms they wore last month) is the recreated fonts. You'll notice the letters are cleaned up more than they should be, such as the "U" curving outward on most (not all) of the original uniforms. The hockey uniforms used the standard Clarendon font instead of modifying the numbers a little bit (note the No. 2 on the hockey uniforms vs the more accurate font on the Buckeyes' 2010 Pro Combat uniforms), as well. Most people don't notice that, though, and they're beautiful otherwise.
  21. Yeah, their first three seasons could easily be mistaken for part of the Saints or Steelers' history. Wouldn't mind seeing a one-time throwback, though, since there isn't much else for them to do in that respect.
  22. I don't ever want this to happen, but I've seen some pretty nice Las Vegas Raiders concepts that added a hint of gold to the silver and black scheme. Too Saints-like for my taste when it comes to the uniforms, but it looked nice with the logos (which I can't find anywhere now).
