I still think the Eagles will find a way to go b-b-b in the 'Owl.  At this point they'll be no less than the 2nd seed and have a home 2nd round game, which pretty much puts them in the NFCCG against, I assume, TB.  I don't see them stopping the Bills offense, so unless it's a shootout like XII (where the Super Bowl LII Champion Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl) it'll likely be the Bills finally bring a trophy home.

Either way, I can't imagine the infrastructure in Phoenix can support both fan bases, and I think there's a mutual respect between the two.  It could lead to the most entertaining pregame shenanigans in Super Bowl history.

Are you a time traveler? Did I wake up from a 4 month coma and now it's January 2023? Am I having a stroke?

In NBA 2K23 the Wizards and Pistons have throwback courts to wear with the throwbacks. The Spurs have a 50th Anniversary logo at center court for the throwbacks and for some reason the top of the key is colored gold. The Suns, Heat, Rockets and Lakers do not have any throwback court.

Celtics will have a 6 in the paint.

I also want to add on with this that every NBA teams court now has small wordmarks in the corner of each baseline to make room for advertising beside it. We saw some teams go with this last season but now it seems to be every single NBA team.  This is a huge blow to the creative direction of team branding and just looks downright awful and soulless. Greed wins once again.

Ah, yes, the one that only I like. Id take orange socks with it of course, even though they’re such a weird lighter shade of orange than the helmet. Anything but the nemos. People will complain about no orange below the belt, but it bothers me more that the super bowl look has no black down there except for the thin outlines that make no zoological sense. At least this look follows the established striping motif from across the rest of the uniform.

EDIT: I think the wrong page was posted, so I found the correct one. Really cool that they added socks to the possible combos list.

The Bengals have 28 uniform combinations. Good lord.

Nets as is are way too similar to the Spurs throwbacks that were just unveiled. Gonna be a hard time identifying who’s who off a glance with those two.

They are way different. If you see the Spurs wearing this on TV and you somehow think it's the Nets then I don't know what to tell you.

Today’s Madden patch included some of the new alt helmets. Holy heck, the Panthers’ black helmets with black jerseys, gray pants and black socks is a tremendous look. That should be their default home set.

I put the Saints alternate helmet with the all black and it looks way better. No idea why they couldn't do this if the Panthers were doing it.

Also, I am very sorry about doing this to the Bears but I just had to see it.

Steelers are going to retire Francis Harris' number in the game against the Raiders. Would this game be good for the color rush?

I would imagine the Steelers would wear throwbacks but they haven't worn them in 2 seasons for some reason. I don't know if they were discontinued or not.

EDIT: This is on the Gridiron Uniform Database. Not sure how true this is.

Smh, the team didn't even communicate with Nike, then. Nike is using a material color named Pitch Blue (it has a completely different color code than Black, of course) for the Pistons Statement uni. We'll actually see that color again with one of the City unis.

Speaking of Statement uniforms, here's a little tidbit for everyone: we've yet to officially see 14 new Statement uniforms (Cavs, Pistons, Warriors, Spurs, Bucks and Jazz have been formally announced). I have a feeling they'll start to be announced in the next couple of weeks. I don't have info on that, just speculating.

Did the Lakers scrap the new Statement uniform that got leaked?

  9. I was just wondering the other day why the Broncos never wore all orange against the Raiders and now they will.  It always seemed like something that would happen yet it never did.

I'm expecting the Raiders to wear their throwback jersey against the Chiefs in Week 5 for MNF. They've only worn it once for a day game and that was in 2020 against the Chargers in a dome. I assume they only wear it at night because of legibility issues with the numbers.

  10. Supposedly the Cincinnati Bengals uniforms every year from 1996 to 1999. They couldn't keep the same look for more than a year. It seems like the team had no idea what they wanted to look like. It stopped in 2001 when Reebok took over the NFL uniform contract. People wonder why NFL has a 5 year rule and this is a good example of why. They force teams to set a design and stick to it.

By the way, I think the Puma version sucks.

  11. NBA 2K23 introduced a new mode in it where you can go back in time and play out 80 years  starting from either 1983, 1991 or 2002. It's crazy stuff, they got everything in there a logo/uniform die hard could want it seems.

With those eras comes graphics packages and they did a great job with that one. The NBC and ESPN ones got me hyped. They don't have the licenses to the networks but they can use the general designs.

The game isnt out yet but it all seems to be pretty good detail wise.

I liked it originally when it was dominant powder blue and white with some royal blue and gold accents, but then they wussed out and became another navy/gold team and it was much less fun.

I hated the prior Nuggets uniform. Not really rugged, just kind of dull.

I completely forgot about that one season where they downplayed the powder blue. That was terrible. It was like erectile dysfunction of a brand.

  13. The Cardinals helmet is surprisingly nice but pairing it with the standard alternate jersey is a bad idea. They just looked like the 2004 Falcons instead and I don't usually like to make comparisons like that but it was hard not to feel that way. The helmet is clearly designed for the Color Rush uniform and will look more appropriate.

  14. I don't like the Cowboys helmet for the same reason I don't like the Bears helmet in that they are one of the teams that should not have an alternate helmet unless it's for a throwback. Now they will just not look like the Cowboys and that's just about the dumbest thing you can do. The team hasn't had a white helmet since 1963 and now they will suddenly wear a new white helmet for a random game in Nashville. Not in a home game, not against a rival team, against the Tennesse Titans on a Thursday night.  That's stupid.

Helmet branding is important regardless of how good alternate helmets can be. Some teams seriously need to stay in their lane.  I'm not saying I don't want alternate helmets, it's just that I want them to be for teams that don't have iconic helmets and more importantly I want the helmets to actually be creative and make sense.

The Cardinals helmet shouldn't be messed with but they made it work by bringing something new to the table design wise, it wasn't just some cheap color swap and calling it a day. They actually modified the decal, added red flakes, that's actually interesting and makes it easier to stomach.

All I ask is that teams try harder and stop being stupid.

How does burgundy helmet/white jersey/gold pants look?

It looked terrible. There's just not enough yellow on the rest of the uniform to justify and make it a cohesive look. The only thing the Commanders should do is white pants or burgundy pants. The burgundy pants on the away jersey make it less awful, maybe throw on black socks for the contrast, but they're most likely going to just wear burgundy pants and socks.

  16. Unfortunately for us uniform nerds Madden 23 doesn't have the alternate helmets in the game at launch, so we won't be able to try mixing and matching right now. They'll probably be added in an update.

I did however get to pair the Commanders black helmet with the road uniform and it's ATROCIOUS. The Commanders have yellow pants too but no yellow socks.
