I'm curious to see how they are going add a roof/canopy to Snapdragon. I'm guessing those extra beams along the upper deck between the lights were built for the eventual addition of a roof? Then the lights get built into the roof/canopy? -

I think a 20 team eastern and western conference is the most likely, with the two conferences only meeting each other in the MLS Cup final or US Open Cup and other tournaments.

I hope they do something new, that stripe is so boring

Rip to the Coyotes. I doubt they relocate to Quebec City though, it's gonna be Houston. -
Cincinnati switching from Under Armour to Nike (and Jordan for basketball), deal goes into effect July 1st. Cincinnati Bearcats Athletics Agrees to Apparel Deal With Jordan Brand and Nike - All Bearcats (si.com)

Yeah as of right now, :censored: can change though

I'm fine with the name FC San Diego as long as they keep the Loyal color scheme
-
Hahahaha I love this, totally agree.

MLB Stadium Saga: Oakland/Tampa Bay/Southside

I don't think the two situations are very comparable. Staying in Oakland was never a real option for the Warriors and I think most people at the time of the original announcement understood why. Lacob's goal from day one was to make the Warriors one of the most valuable franchises in the league and that was never going to happen playing in Oakland (or so we thought). The Warriors represent the entire Bay Area and they wanted to play their games in the iconic city of the Bay Area, making them more marketable to fans and to free agents (which is an understandable premise). The plan was for the Warriors to be playing in San Francisco in a world class arena (the Bay Area's own version of MSG or Staples Center) right when the team would hopefully start competing for championships (likely dropping the Golden State name for San Francisco too). Of course that's not what ended up happening as the arena got delayed and eventually changed locations while the team became one of the all time great dynasties and most valuable franchises anyway while still playing in Oakland which made the eventual move awkward. Lacob is on record saying that the A's should remain in Oakland. If he was to buy the team, I see no reason why he wouldn't pull out all the necessary stops to remain in Oakland and build a new ballpark on his dime.- 3,839 replies

That's how I feel too. I don't how much of this sport I'll enjoy anymore moving forward, especially if the Pac-12 falls apart.

Isn't that what we do here man -
I'd like to see Notre Dame go with Nike, I don't see them as a Jordan team. I would bet they probably stay with Under Armour though, the AD's son works there.

Ah yeah the Hornets are more forgettable. You know a team is the most forgettable when you forget about them when talking about what team is the most forgettable. The Nashville money thing could be a real issue, I doubt they get any public funding after the Titans stadium got approved. People in Portland are interested, it's just that they were the first to announce their intentions to secure an expansion team back in 2017 and since then interest has kind of waned due to no news on expansion and now other cities are getting all the publicity because they're announcing their plans when the topic is hot.- 3,839 replies

Orlando is such a meh city, are the Magic the most forgettable team in sports? The only way it happens is if the Rays want to move there. I'd rather see Nashville and Portland get teams, even Salt Lake City is a more exciting option than Orlando.- 3,839 replies

I'm kinda surprised they're not going with something a little more unique looking, it looks to be in the same family of stadiums as Columbus and Nashville. -

According to this website, they averaged 4,519 per game in 2022. They play at University of San Diego's on campus 6,000 seat football/soccer stadium. -
If they went this route, how about the Washington Natives? Or is that too direct of a name? I've always like the Potomacs too.

This is an awesome upgrade. Great job by Oklahoma State and Nike. As for the numbers not matching the wordmark, that is how the baseball team (who I think got this wordmark first?) does it as well. I would assume basketball is next to get this same number and wordmark treatment.

It'd feel like a massive mistake for MLS to not have Landon Donavon be part of the ownership group. However, I think the Loyal name is pretty bad and hope it doesn't make it to MLS. The colors are fantastic though. -

Here's a post I made earlier about BART station distances to Howard Terminal. A roughly mile walk isn't bad, a lot of people do it for Cal games and Giants games. There is also an Amtrak station at Jack London Square where maybe they could get some special commuter service started similar to the Giants and CalTrain. I don't know if zero public transportation is exactly fair to say, but it's just not directly adjacent like at the Coliseum.- 3,839 replies

I believe the majority of the legal work for Howard Terminal is already done and it offers the same type of potential redevelopment that Petco and Pac Bell spurred. It’s a great location not only for the A’s but also Oakland, too bad Fisher was too cheap to make it happen. The only redeeming factor of the Coliseum site is how close the BART station is.- 3,839 replies

I'm just saying that a lot of people like to trash on Oakland because all their teams relocated but the same thing would happen in a lot more cities if governments weren't so desperate to keep their teams.- 3,839 replies
