I saw on a Casey Pratt report on the news that it is dependent on legislation in Nevada that hasn't been passed yet. But the passage of that legislation is likely. Pratt puts the chances of the move happening at 95%.
And the owners could vote no on allowing the relocation but that won't happen.

just about any of the other options would've been better than Vegas. it's really amazing how hard I've soured on that city over the past five or six years between the standard Sunbelt "People" populace, horrific urban planning, realization that sports betting is genuine pure evil, what the Knights' fanbase has become, and the fact that Fallout: New Vegas was a more accurate prediction of what it'd be like in 50 years than 250.
honestly? if I could've picked anywhere for them to move? it'd be Sacramento. hell, you move there and you can basically keep the same fanbase you've already built up.
Sacramento would have been a great move.
The A's were the Sacramento River Cats' major league affiliate for their first 15 years of existence, the fan base was probably already there if they wanted to move. But then the A's moved affiliates to Nashville (and now Las Vegas) and let the Giants (who were in Fresno the previous 17 years) take over the River Cats.

Being in LV might help them attract free agents. Not necessarily because of the "action", but there's a growing number of players from the LV area that may want to sign with a cash-infused hometown team.
Too bad for them that Kris Bryant (he's not good anymore anyway) and Bryce Harper are already locked for this entire decade. They'll have to settle for Joey Gallo.

Madison Bumgardner was Designated for Assignment by the Diamondbacks. All I can say is about time. They have a strong squad this year and don’t need him stinking up the team. We have a couple pitchers that could take his place like Drey Jameson who could be a good 5th option and MadBum is just there and sucking. Great HOF player, but time to move on
I don't know if he'll get into the HOF, he doesn't really have the regular season stats.
He'll definitely get his number retired by the Giants though.

Portland A's would have been better than the Las Vegas A's

It’s kind of shocking in this day (from a ticket/revenue standpoint) that CU still has the “Colorado” hill past the endzone…but everyone would complain if it was removed. Just an odd quirk that it’s there because it’s seemingly always been there.
Why is that hill there anyway?

As nice as it might be for Fresno to regain Class AAA professional baseball, another likely scenario is that the A's and the Aviators not only coexist in the Las Vegas market in general over the long term (just like the Atlanta Braves and the Gwinnett Stripers, the Houston Astros and the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, the Minnesota Twins (of Minneapolis) and the St. Paul Saints, or the Seattle Mariners and the Tacoma Rainiers), but also even play at the same ballpark in Summerlin while the big-league club's new venue is under construction. I lived near Nashville when a now-demolished ballpark in that city hosted both the established Class AAA Sounds and a temporary Class AA team nicknamed the Xpress for two seasons, so I know that the A's and the Aviators would have at least one model for pulling off a similar situation.
MLB really did Fresno dirty with taking away their Triple-A team after the MiLB reshuffling. The fans went from watching future stars (all of the World Series Giants and a lot of the World Series Astros) to Low-A scrubs in an empty 10,000 stadium. To stop Fresno from suing them MLB guaranteed a MiLB through 2030 but did not guarantee a future Triple-A team, only saying they'd recommend Fresno as a Triple-A option in the future but that's it.
I also don't see how Vegas can (or why they should) support a Triple-A team and an MLB team.

As long as it's not Quebec City or anywhere else in Canada, Gary Bettman says YES.
Why give Quebec City a team when you can give Phoenix a second team! It's the better business decision, it just is!

The fake mesh pattern on the numbers make it gimmicky.
Yeah why keep that?
You're Under Armour's alma mater but you reuse past years throwbacks for your full time uniforms?

That’s exactly what I thought FSU should always do with their uniforms but now that they’ve done it they kinda look a little boring. Maybe it’s cuz the pattern doesn’t cover the whole collar

The Salt Lake Bee's play on Sundays and they have a top 20 attendance in MiLB. Utah's athletics also have no problem playing on Sundays.
I don't think playing on Sunday would be that big of an issue.

The top two items on this new Commanders owner checklist should be:
1) Rebrand
2) RFK

Did a quick search and didn't see any results, but whats the general consensus on teams keeping names as they move cities? I feel this fits as an Unpopular Opinion but I am 100% for it.
Give me the Colorado Nordiques, the Minnesota Senators and the Oklahoma City SuperSonics.
And I realize its gets muddled with some instances, or how far to go back (do you want the New Jersey Rockies or the New Jersey Scouts in the NHL?), but I do like the premise.
(if this is the wrong section for this, please let me know).
I think its a case by case basis.
Teams that are currently relocation candidates:
Athletics (A's): Definitely a name that can and should stay with it's team, its already been done twice. Would work in Las Vegas or Portland or any other city.
Rays: Don't think this name would work anywhere else. Yeah it supposed to be "rays of sunshine" but everyone still thinks of it as the fish which just fits Tampa perfectly. Definitely wouldn't work in Nashville, Charlotte, or Montreal.
Coyotes: It could work in Houston I guess but who's going to want to hold onto the legacy of the Coyotes in their new city. Wouldn't work in Quebec City.
Some teams that have relocated:
Raiders: Its the Raiders, no brainer.
Chargers: Still close enough to SD to appeal to old fans, some history in LA, and the beautiful uniforms. Good decision.
Rams: History in LA, another no brainer.
Thrashers/Jets: Previous history of Winnipeg Jets, no brainer. Thrashers was an awful name to begin with.
Sonics/Thunder: Good decision after stealing the team from Seattle. Wouldn't of worked well in OKC anyway.
Grizzlies: Should of changed the name, makes no sense in Memphis.
Jazz/Hornets/Bobcats: Utah keeping the Jazz name messed all this up and it doesn't fit at all in Utah. New Orleans could of become the Jazz again when the Hornets moved there and then there wouldn't have ever been the Bobcats. Pelicans is a fine name though.
Oilers/Titans: Fine with changing to Titans but Houston should have been allowed to use Oilers again.

Nike does such a terrible job with UCLA style shoulder stripes, just absolutely abysmal.
The frustrating part is that I have to believe there's a solution to be had, they just aren't interested in the time and effort it would take when it's so much more profitable to just plug everyone in to their existing templates. And obviously, the teams don't care enough (or probably even think about it enough) to fight them on it.
And there's visual proof that it can be done. As a whole Nike's design work is well above what Under Armour puts out, but one area where UA is unarguably head and shoulders above Nike is in this type of traditional shoulder stripping...
If you look at the before and after with Nike's takeover of UCLA you'd have to be one of those people who really just don't care about these things to not see what's obviously a regression in the way this style of stripping is supposed to work...
Taken as a whole, Nike probably wins in the Nike vs Under Armour vs Adidas football uniform argument, but it's annoying that their status at the top of the heap has let them get lazy when it comes to things like this and their stubborn insistence on forcing teams into their per-existing color choices.
They're making plenty of money. They can do better.
Hot take here...
Nike does it better

Brooklyn would for sure benefit from some accent color. The mint/teal color would look great. Especially to tie into the Liberty
I feel like that color combo is overplayed now with the Liberty and Gotham FC.
I like the Nets in black and white but if they HAD to add an accent color I still think Dodger blue would be the best.

And not only is Vegas getting the A's but everyone seems content with the Aviators remaining there as well.
The area is home to only 2.5 million people, they have NHL, NFL, WNBA, and now MLB. In what world do they need a Triple-A team?? The Aviators play 20 minutes (11 miles) from the property the A's just purchased, I mean c'mon it's just unnecessary.
