This is kinda his schtick. There was a similar tantrum after Carolina beat the Islanders. It has run its course, but at least he is sticking with it.

It's an annoying schtick, but alright.

Uh, I don't think anyone gives af about the political angles of this, man. I think people just find Boston insufferable even if they agree with their politics.

  3. At the very least, it would be quite the unexpected result from the perspective of 48 hours ago and frankly right now if the Arlington Renegades manage to pull it off. Defenders/Renegades reminds me more of the Mass Effect morality system then it does a football game IMO.

Still, I think the Defenders win by 10 but I also thought the Renegades were going to get completely BTFO by Houston so who knows?

At the very least, he could be a wildcat guy for a team.

The Wildcat? I know it feels like the financial world is on the brink of collapse, but that doesn’t make it 2008.

But seriously, the Chiefs have always been shredded by mobile quarterbacks. :censored:ing Johnny Manzel looked like a pro against them. It’s why I lowkey thought the Eagles were going to win the Super Bowl.

By virtue of the Renegades' entire season, they came in second and qualified for the playoffs.

However, in the games immediately after Perez's arrival, they beat Orlando (who, despite finishing with the worst record, had just beaten D.C., and were in the midst of Dormady's run as the league's hottest player) and then were robbed against D.C.

While we didn't get to see what the Renegades would have done to Houston in the last game of the season if they had needed to win that game, we may rest assured that it would not have resembled their performance in what was essentially a scrimmage.

But we're sure going to see that on this coming weekend.  I don't purport to be conversant with the Texan idiom, but I suspect that a cry of "yee-haw" or "boy howdy" or some such will be appropriate for the beating that Houston is about to endure.

Sorry for the double post, but if the Renegades do manage to win the XFL Championship, I’ll send you a Luis Perez jersey.

  6. Of course. As much as I hate this current format, I understand that this format is how it was set up and the players and coaches knew this going in and planned accordingly and had it been the format everyone besides Ferdie wants then they'd plan differently and we'd have a different season.

That being said, it's still stupid because anyone with half a brain could see something like this coming.

EDIT: And here are Week 10's TV ratings and I do emphasize TV because streaming isn't included. Would be interested to know what those numbers are.

Looks like they finished with an average of 622,000 viewers.

I’m more surprised that they didn’t play this at Philadelphia Union’s stadium. Feels like it would be more successful there.

  8. Considering that I don't think I've ever seen people talk about the Arizona Cardinals this much, changing the uniform is a good idea on paper. They really don't have a legacy as franchise age alone doesn't make a legacy. So, why not get a fresh coat of paint? It's easier than actually putting a good product on the field.

    I don't know.  I dig him.

"...which is even worse than if he had spiked the ball into the ground on every snap."

And his thoroughness should be commended.  Some of his audience might indeed have come rather recently to football (or to baseball, as he has a new channel, JaguarGator7, covering that sport), and he is doing the good work of educating them about history.  He is much younger than I had originally supposed, and he somehow acquired a lot of knowledge about events before his time. He is passing this gift on to others.

To each his own. Again, he's really knowledgeable and that's always a plus, but he's too pompous for my tastes. Social graces don't hurt.

The NHL had to expand into "non-traditional" markets due to population decline in "traditional" markets, plus the owners wanted the expansion fee money, "copying" the NBA wasn't the reason.

Pretty sure the Canadian dollar’s value against the US dollar was a reason too. But as far as I’m concerned, abandoning a solid source of revenue and money for something that might potentially make more money doesn’t sound like a strong business plan. I get why they did it, I still think it’s stupid.

  11. I think it's a lot simpler even if I agree that there's some of that subtext in what the NHL is doing:

Gary Bettman was hired from the NBA. Gary Bettman wanted to make the NHL as big as the NBA. So he expanded into non-traditional markets like the NBA, experimented with ridiculous uniform trends like the NBA, had lockouts like the NBA and now wants to have engagement on social media like the NBA. Slow monkey see, slow monkey do three years later.
