The other solution is expand the amount of teams in the World Cup and there has been some talk around that... Unfortunately, there is such a massive talent gap between the Old Boys Club, I mean tier 1 teams, and tier 2 teams, it would just be a gong show. The other problem is that the Old Boys Club controls World Rugby and anyone outside of that group does not want to expand the game and make it better. As long and Bill Beaumont is president, the game will never expand. I was really pissed when Rugby Canada elected him instead of the guy from Argentina, who had wanted to see more development in tier 2 and would have benefited Canada.

I understand the old boys club mentality, but no way should the rest of the world miss out because a few think their game is better than others.

I realise that their is a gap in performances from country to country, but the only way to get other countries involved and more competitive is to allow them to play and stop stealing their players.

There is no way that the 4 Countries from the Isles should make it without going through some type of playoff.

Only the Previous winner, Runner up and Host should automatically get a spot in the next World Cup.

Even 4 teams from Oceania is probably 1 to many same as 3 from the Isles

He's one of the best, but walking off during a game is not what great players should be doing. I like the guy, but he's decided that the coach should be beholden to him and that can't happen on any team, much less Manchester United.

I understand that one player of one coach etc is not bigger than any club but there was a rumour he asked to be taken off due to an injury he suffered at training during the week but the manager said no, so this led to him walking off.

Personally i think we can let this one indifference slide as long as he doesn't do it again.

They were the Ottawa Aces but they didn't come to fruition and were relocated to England and became Cornwall R.L.F.C and play in RFL League 1.

Ok, i'll take another look at the ESL.

I like to follow the odd teams like them and the Warriors in the NRL and Catalans in the ESL.

The qualifying tournament for the final spot for the World Cup between USA, Portugal, Hong Kong and Kenya.

    Fgu0CQwXkAEqUlH?format=jpg&name=small

They all look fantastic and the only Union specific old style kit i can see there is the Hong Kong one, and how strange is to see a National Portuguese team without green.

The countries that make it from the zones are well and truly appalling.

5 teams from Oceania - Australia, NZ, Tonga, Fiji, Samoa

8 from Europe - England, Scotland, Wales, France, Georgia, Italy, Romania , Ireland

2 from Africa - Namibia, South Africa

3 from America - Uruguay, Argentina, Chile

    1 from Asia - Japan

    1 Unclear atm

Should off seen this happening in my opinion.

4 teams from Oceania - Australia, NZ, Tonga, Fiji

3 from America - Uruguay, Argentina, Chile,

3 from British Isles and Ireland - England, Wales, Ireland

3 from Mainland Europe -, France, Italy, Georgia

3 from Africa - Namibia, South Africa, Kenya

2 from Asia - Japan, Hong Kong (China)

All others should be placed into a repechage for 2 qualifiers:

    Group A

Samoa, Romania, USA, Cook Islands, Algeria, Brazil

    Group B

Scotland, Spain, Canada, South Korea, Belgium, Portugal

Winner of each group takes up the repechage spot.

    Yes.

There is a North America Rugby League in which the Toronto Wolfpack have transferred to but they are just trying to get off the ground and haven't really got established yet.

    Oh ok.
Why did Rugby Union call itself League then?

I wondered where the Wolfpack went, there was talk of an Ottawa side in ESL also.
It's been good to see the French teams do ok, well until Toulouse went down.

The league just announced it's schedule and new kits will soon follow. Before that though, the league announced plans to expand to Chicago and they have announced their name.

    The Chicago Hounds:

Nice to see some green in the league now as well.

Before all of this though, the league did contract by 2 teams, losing the Los Angeles Giltinis and the Austin Gilgronis. They were found to be in numerous financial breaches and were suspended from last year's playoffs.

Once the new kits are released, I'll post them.

So is this the Rugby Union calling itself a league or a new Rugby League venture?

  9. Week 11 schedule:

    Cleveland vs. Buffalo

    Carolina vs. Baltimore

    Detroit vs. NY Giants

    Las Vegas vs. Denver

    Paris 2024 Olympic Mascot

Phryges, the Phrygian cap that symbolises French republic chosen as the 2024 Olympics mascot | The Star

Taking a page from Qatar, the Paris mascots are Phrygian caps, also known as liberty caps. They were used in a lot of Republican France iconography after the French Revolution.

So if we are all touchy, feely, and worried about everyone else's injustices then these mascots / emblems represent someone's tragic and gruesome downfall in a part of French history.

Why are animals and plants so hated in this era?

    Also in before Angry birds.

The Las Vegas jerseys would be so much better without the lettering. Let the logo carry it.

They've also tried to be too Black and White, Las Vegas is full of lights and lasers and over the top nonsense.

Sad they want to follow the Raiders and not be their own entity.

Yes, but the text doesn't contribute to it being good or unique. It's an extraneous element that can easily be dumped.

    Disagree.

This now looks like some sort of Alaskan, Space Force or United Federation of Planets flag.

A week like this was bound to happen sooner or later. I guess the only real surprise is that it took this long. There was exactly one game that looked good enough for the best list and exactly one game that looked bad enough for the worst list. Everything else was good uniform vs. bad uniform which resulted in all the games  but these two cancelling each other out.

Welcome to what I hope is the only edition of infrared41's Best and Worst Game of the Week.

    This won't take long...

    BEST

Steelers - Eagles: Enjoy a couple pictures of the lone qualifier for the best list. This was a really good looking game, but the fact that it was the only one tells you all you need to know about week 8 uniform match ups.

    WORST

Broncos - On behalf of American NFL fans, I'd like to apologize to London NFL fans for making them look at this disaster. Good lord.

    4AnbdG1.jpg

And that, folks, is that. Normally, I say we'll do it all again next week, but in this particular case, let's hope not.

Is that second pic of Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers or Houston v Seattle?
