I predict doom and gloom for the XFL due to Vince McMahon.  He has the tendency to get very impatient and flies off the handle at the smallest things.

Guy makes millions on scripted and staged sports-themed theater.  Guy decides to get into actual sports. But it doesn’t work. Ratings sag, and guy turns to what he knows, trying to create artificial storylines to draw interest.

We know that McMahon did that last time.  My concern around this league is that he’ll do it again.

  2. Yeah, the burden of proof is definitely on the XFL.  We've seen too many of these fly-by-night minor leagues implode to give any new ones the benefit of the doubt, no matter how much money the owner has and may or may not spend.

If it's good, if it's sustainable, then they'll build credit in the eyes of the general public.  If you support the league, be patient.  Respect will come if it's due.

Ok, so are you going to boycott the World Cup?

Its important to call out Qatar for what they are doing with these migrant workers and I have, but im not boycotting a World Cup. I LOVE World Cups too much

I also love the World Cup.  But I will boycott this one.  That’s how far over the line it is.

I don't know if I'm happy or not that the Dragons didn't try and force an S for Seattle into the Dragon shape. So close but cuts off.

That’s an inspired idea.  Maybe needs a little more of his chest, but that would elevate this logo out of this league and into Big Four territory.

Different face and flames. You can say Seattle's logo is inspired by UAB but it's not a copy.

Doesn't have to be a direct copy to be a copy.  Or to run afoul of trademark laws.  Even “inspired by” is problematic, since the issue is whether there is a risk of confusion.  Hard to ignore that there isn’t with these two.

Thanks! For some reason I had UA in my head but couldn't find anything to corroborate that.

UA had to drop out of the MLB contract because they’re struggling and couldn’t handle the volume.   Do we think they minor league football is small enough that UA could actually follow through?

  7. I think they adopted a zero-tolerance policy because in actual practice it wasn’t “let me photoshop the uniform without the stripe”, it was “let me show you my total uniform overhaul”.   And then the whole thread becomes about the relative merits of the concept.

It’s possible that tiny tweaks would pass muster.  But a redesign of the logo?  That probably does deserve its own thread.

I did my own version of a RENEGADES logo, which I think is better. Does anyone know how I can post a jpeg of it on this site? Can I have someone do it for me, if I

    send the jpeg?

Open an account on imgur or another free image hosting site.  Post it there, copy the URL, and hit the bright blue “Insert other media” button below.

Posting concepts to a news thread is generally frowned upon, though - there’s a whole “Concepts” board where you can do that.

(Schwartz) called the games of the New York Dragons on radio for the team's entire eight-year run,

As i said - all the sketchy fly-by-night suburban teams. 😛

Well, on April 24 I received this text.

That only shows they had one in the office. Doesn’t mean they actually had any inventory for sale.
