  1. Personally, I'd say that nowadays I hear Row the Boat about as often as Go Gophers
  2. If anything, it would help because an FBS conference would get much more money than an FCS one.
  3. probably bc literally no one gives a :censored: about that now
  4. Not opposed to that. I think the only two other realistic options to get to 14 would be Dayton and Loyola Chicago
  5. I suppose its possible that some of them could move up as the "American Heritage Conference" or something that would just take the top HBCUs. Something like: East Alabama A&M Alabama St Florida A&M Howard Morgan St NC A&T West Grambling St Jackson St PVAMU Southern Tennessee St Texas Southern This is based on no actual research, just vibes
  6. Even though it seems common, Generals is only used in the NCAA by D3 Washington & Lee and in the NAIA by LSU-Alexandria
  7. This is how I expect the current round of realignment to wind up. Honestly the only major question to me is whether or not WSU, OSU, and Cal just join the MWC or they take the top six or so teams from the MWC and make a new conference with some teams like SMU and Memphis. Then in 2036 the Big 10, Big 12, and SEC will each take 4 teams from the ACC and Wake Forest and someone else (probably BC) will be left to the wild. The Big 10 and SEC will be the two superconferences and the Big 12 will be the clear number three
  8. Yeah they're pretty much Liberty without the brand or money
  9. They did hire her for the season (or longer idk). The probationary period is for all Times union employees. They can only be fired for cause, but for the first six months of employment that doesn't apply.
  10. Here's the thing though, BYU is leaving after next season which means the WCC currently has an open spot. Personally, I think it would make more sense for the conference to add GCU
  11. With BYU leaving, pretty much every school is on the Pacific or reasonably close too it, with the exception of the Zags, so I'm not sure if Denver makes the most sense
  12. I think Dayton and St Louis make the most sense. The Billikens are the top basketball team in St Louis, a new and somewhat large market for the Big East. Dayton would make Ohio the only state with multiple Big East teams, but I think they would be a better competitive fit for the Big East. I've said it a few times, but I think Dayton was one of the most impacted sports teams by COVID-19. They had a solid, Obi Toppin led team and a Final Four run wouldn't have been out of the question. The Big East had just expanded to 11 and adding a Catholic school that just made the Final Four to get the conference to 12 would've made too much sense.
  13. Loyola Chicago will be joining the A-10 in 2022-23 giving them 15 members. Apparently La Salle is struggling in terms of both finances and enrollment, which could doom the schools D1 athletic program. Also the Big East sits at 11; in order to get to 12, it almost certainly would poach from the A-10
  14. There's a 2-yr grace period when conferences drop below 8 FBS teams I feel confident in saying that aTm-Commerce isn't the last Lone Star Conference school that the Southland will add. I believe an earlier poster mentioned aTm Int'l, aTm-Kingsville, UTPB, and Midwestern St as potential targets, I would also add DBU, Angelo St, and West aTM to that list, although Int'l and DBU don't have fb (and DBU also doesn't have wbb)
  15. I think this is the right move. MTSU has always been more of a Southern team than Midwestern, but more importantly, they're about to get the combined exit and entrance fees (which I heard is $18 mil split 5 ways, but we be around $19.5/4 if WKU leaves). Also the awful C-USA TV deal is up in 23. If things don't get better then, it might be worth re-exploring the MAC. If WKU wants to join now, I don't really see many options. I'm not sure that WKU would want to move up in tandem with EKU, thus giving them greater legitimacy, and I think the same logic applies to the Ohio schools (specifically Akron and Kent St) with Youngstown. I suppose Ill St, Ind St, and So Ill might be more palatable options, but I'm not sure if they have the means and desire to move up
  16. Unfortunately, I think this will probably endear Portnoy even more to his Barstool base
  17. If those were going to happen they would have happened. Louisiana Tech is redundant as there's already a northern Louisiana school in the Sun Belt. In an alternate universe, Louisiana Tech is already in the Belt in place of ULM, but they balked and went to the WAC instead so that they could spend all of their money on travel expenses. Would be fitting for them to end up there again. A large part of the appeal of the Sun Belt as it's being constructed is that it's geographically sound and made up of like-minded schools. They're all public universities, mostly in college towns, with an emphasis on football. Texas State is already a bit of a geographic outlier, but nothing like UTEP, and Miami is further from its closest potential opponent than San Marcos is. Yeah I would expect Tech to go to the WAC with UTEP and NMSU and for FIU to wind up as an independent
  18. The only reason I can think of is that they are part of the same system. UTSA may be "forced", either by the UT Board of Regents or the TX Leg to at least make an effort at securing UTEP a place in the American. Do I think that is likely? No
  19. Adding Liberty would've been a bad idea last week. This week, it should be unthinkable
  20. This feels incredibly selective. Why didn't the NAACP do this for Georgia and Florida? Hell, as a Minnesotan, why haven't they issued a similar warning for Minneapolis?
  21. Yeah I would expect the hold up for JMU to be the reclassification part
  22. Pretty much every religious school is more religious than TCU
  23. 8 is the minimum for an FBS conference. NMSU might be a lock given their proximity to UTEP and current FBS status. UCONN and UMass are probably additions of last resort, but I'm not sure how many schools are looking to move up and can. I've thought the Montana schools could and maybe Idaho wants to bounce back up. I don't think the Dakota schools would. Sam Houston is probably a good choice. Beyond that...Central Ark? MO St? Tenn St? Jacksonville St?
  24. I think the Montanas are the most likely option. Beyond that, I suppose Sac St would be good from a market standpoint, but I think the MWC's best options would be NMSU, the Dakotas schools, and/or some of the Texas FCS schools
  25. As a current student, the only noticeable aspects of religion are the requirement for every student to take a religion class (not necessarily Christian) and pregame prayers. The school also doesn't have honor codes like Baylor, BYU, or Liberty.
