  1. Uh, what? The striping is absolutely not the same as the originals. The Adidas set is way closer to the originals than the Reebok aprons visually; it just combines both small stripes into one large stripe.
  2. I've never really been a fan of the interlocking "SOX" on the home jerseys. I know it's a traditional thing, but I've always preferred baseball jerseys that have scripts on them as opposed to small corner logos; just a bit of personal preference, admittedly. I've even experimented with making a slightly-modified version of the 87-90 White Sox script in the current color scheme, and I think it works pretty well, personally;
  3. Add in a prime relocation market in Québec that doesn't even require any realignment to pull off...and it's an ugly, ugly picture for the Panthers. I gotta think that this is their make or break point; if they can't pull together something to draw fans back, they're probably done in South Florida.
  4. Note that the NHLPA could have filed a grievance, but actively chose not to do so, and even consider the matter resolved; That, to me, makes me think it's not something super serious. Considering Meruelo's big money-making properties are casinos, restaurants and hotels, industries being hammered by the pandemic, it's not really surprising that he's going to have a little bit of a financial squeeze at the moment.
  5. I really hope Adidas looks at making the Winter Classic-styled collars the primary form; they're way better aesthetically because they don't have the stupid pentagon in the middle that only exists to house the NHL logo.
  6. Speaking of the Penguins; The RoboPen is far and away the best logo the team's had. The Skating Penguin is fine, but I love the RoboPen.
  7. Different group doing the renovations altogether; Some of these names are pretty hefty parties; Meridian Credit Union's assets are worth $23.9 billion by themselves. Paletta International was part of the Burlington group, as well as a big property developer in the region. Fengate Capital is a large investment firm known for being one of the best-run firms in the country. If that group decides they want an NHL team, I'm not exactly sure the NHL would laugh them out of the building, especially since it's pretty much an open secret that they'd love a second team in the Golden Horseshoe. Balsillie's attempts to bring an NHL team to Hamilton failed because of one critical mistake; he didn't play by the Board's rules and kept trying to circumvent them. The NHL wants a second team in the Golden Horseshoe, make no mistake about that; but they want a group that plays by their rules owning it, not a rogue element like Balsillie was. Had Balsillie simply played ball like the other owners, we'd be talking about how a team like Pittsburgh or Nashville became the new Hamilton NHL team right now. And Hamilton's not really "Canada's version of Shreveport". More like the Pittsburgh to Toronto's Philadelphia; which is appropriate, since Pittsburgh and Hamilton have a fair share of things in common, including their traditional sports colors. Though that's all future talk; the primary focus for the group right now is obviously the Bulldogs, and an NHL team is just a potential way to get another return on the investment.
  8. The City of Hamilton has selected a $500m proposal that includes a heavy renovation to FirstOntario Center, as part of an attempt to revitalize the downtown core of the city, which is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2021 after the city finalizes the agreement this year; there'll be more details revealed when that happens. This obviously has implications for the Bulldogs, but I wouldn't be shocked if the renovations are also part of another attempt to bring an NHL team to the region.
  9. The weird thing is the Amerks have been pretty good at developing players and were doing pretty well the last few seasons. So I don't know why exactly the Pegulas felt it necessary to clean out their staff, as well.
  10. Oh man, if the Pegulas move or fold Rochester, there'll be absolute hell for them to pay for it in terms of publicity. The team's played in Rochester since 1956, it's one of the oldest franchises in the AHL.
  11. The sharper lines really help the logo, in my opinion. Definitely an upgrade.
  12. Doubt it'd happen due to relocation of the current affiliate; they're affiliated with the Fort Wayne Komets in the ECHL, and the Komets have been around since 1952; the only minor-league hockey team to have been in continuous operation longer than the Komets is Hershey in the AHL. Unless a group pops up in Reno to bring a new team there, they're not changing their ECHL affiliate.
  13. That's the influence of Nike and it's patented Nikespeak. Nothing can just be the way it is because it looks good, it needs a story.
  14. Not even the worst failure Nintendo's had, that's weak sauce. Try this puppy on for size;
  15. https://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/nhl/coyotes/2020/05/25/how-phoenix-coyotes-original-kachina-logo-created/3061745001/ This article went up on AZcentral just recently which has some interesting tidbits on the creation of the Coyotes' identity. I'll post some of the most interesting images here, but it's a pretty interesting read. This was a logo concept the team had at one point, believe it or not. If people thought the Mighty Ducks logo was too cartoonish for the NHL, just imagine if these had gone through as the final design. This was a pretty well-dodged bullet, I'd say. Here's something rather interesting; this document refers to the team as the Arizona Coyotes long before the team adopted that name in 2014, and thus has versions of the original full-body logo, moon logo and wordmark without the Phoenix text present, like what's seen now on the Kachina alternates. Could that mean the team originally thought about calling themselves the Arizona Coyotes? The head alone also seems to have been the primary logo at some point before being switched out for the full-body coyote.
  16. I've been looking for a Paint-friendly version of Columbus' current NOB font and numbers for the primaries and have come up short. Would anybody perchance happen to have that on hand?
  17. The Bears and Caps have extended their affiliation agreement to the 2023-2024 season, to nobody's surprise.
  18. That's hardly a shape unique to the Jr. Blues.
  19. Falconry isn't an uncommon thing in scouting; and the logo is obviously a hawk/eagle.
  20. Seems as though Hershey is probably sticking with the Capitals as their affiliate.
  21. Seems as though Hershey is probably sticking with the Capitals as their affiliate.
  22. That's the team wordmark. This is probably going to be the primary logo, if I had to guess;
  23. It does mention that it's temporary; besides, Shawnee is part of the Kansas City, Kansas metropolitan area, so it's not really that big of a deal. And Kansas City, Kansas is right next to Kansas City, Missouri anyways.
