  1. It's a league rule that every AHL team must have an NHL affiliate, and with Vegas getting the Rampage and STL taking over Springfield, someone needs to take Chicago as an affiliate. It's also mentioned that it's only an option that they're looking into, not a decided thing. Most likely, they'll keep the affiliation with Charlotte and let Florida have Chicago.
  2. These are 90's as :censored:, holy :censored:.
  3. Eh, I wouldn't call the RPM logo "associated with failure", since RPM was actually a really good show. Man, if you want a real example of Power Rangers and failure...
  4. I cannot recall if these have been posted before, but my search through this thread has turned up nothing, so here goes. This YouTube video shows a number of unused logo ideas for the Sabres before they rebranded into the Goathead design. Some of them are, uh, interesting. And all of them are very 90's NHL. This one has a few unused logos, but also features (albeit very blurry) images of some jersey concepts. Would these be scrapped thirds, or more unused rebrand ideas?
  5. The Blues are now affiliated with the Thunderbirds. This obviously ties into the previous report of the Panthers looking to put their affiliate in Chicago.
  6. The Blues don't have an affiliate anymore, actually; the Rampage, their previous affiliate, was sold and is being moved to Henderson as the Knights' AHL affiliate next season. They almost definitely won't want to work with the Wolves again, given how awfully the last stint those two had as affiliates went, so I think they'll likely angle to get an entirely new franchise so they can avoid ever dealing with the Wolves. I could potentially see the Blues putting an AHL team in Kansas City or Peoria. With Seattle adding a team in Palm Springs, I could potentially see the Blues angling to get a new affiliate of their own as well; we know Doug Armstrong and the Blues are already looking to get a new affiliate, and I imagine they'd want one that they have control over after the utter :censored:show that was their time with the Wolves. Incidentally, that would also bump the AHL up to 32 teams; which means every NHL team would then have an AHL affiliate of their own.
  7. The Pats have been in Regina for over a hundred years, and the Blades have been in Saskatoon for fifty-six. I have a difficult time believing that either team is going to get squeezed out by an AHL club, especially if they share an arena like how the Hitmen and Oil Kings already share arenas with an NHL tenant. The B-Sens have an arena capacity of 4,400. The Comets have an arena capacity of 3,860. The IceHogs have an arena capacity of 5,895. If those capacity numbers can support an AHL team, Saskatoon and Regina's arenas can definitely do so. Abbotsford didn't work for the Flames for an entirely different reason; because it was a place filled to the brim with Canucks fans who were never going to support a team directly affiliated with one of their most bitter rivals. There was a direct and heated NHL rivalry there, there isn't in Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan also has a fair amount of Flames fans, from my (admittedly hazy and second-hand) recollection, so a Flames affiliate in Saskatoon or Regina would do a lot better then it did in Abbotsford due to that pre-existing fanbase.
  8. Given this is the same group that filed a trademark and logo for a team named the Kansas City Scouts (and still holds the name trademark), I can only assume that will likely be reapplied for as the team name once the team moves.
  9. I'm genuinely shocked the Flames haven't just decided to put an AHL team in either Regina or Saskatoon. You'd think that'd be the obvious move to have a team 7 hours away in Regina or 6 hours away in Saskatoon instead of putting it 21 hours away in friggin' Stockton.
  10. I would agree that some bits of red would seal the deal on the brand; honestly, I think going with more traditional striping for the sleeves and socks would work well for getting some red in without it being overpowering in regards to the pewter and orange (perhaps a red/white/red Braisher striping could look good). Maybe also make the top of the pants red, as well? Regardless of that, it's still a gargantuan improvement on the utter disaster of a look that the team has currently; minimizing pewter is definitely the right way to go for the Bucs.
  11. Honestly, SF, you should probably just reach out to the team about letting them use the script as an official part of their identity at this point. After all; it's so good that even the team themselves can't tell it's not their own official script!
  12. I could see the Blues deciding they'd rather make some kind of agreement with another NHL team to have their prospects go to their AHL affiliate in the interim, while they begin trying to get an AHL club set up in either Peoria or Kansas City to finally put an end to the issue altogether. I severely doubt they'll even think about putting up with the Wolves again after the absolute disaster that their last stint together was; the Blues' biggest problem with affiliating with them was that the Wolves really don't put any stock in developing prospects. They'll want an affiliation with a club where they can easily develop prospects without having to fight tooth and nail with their own affiliate.
  13. If Vegas doesn't bring back the Wranglers name and colors, I'll be highly disappointed. I know a lot of people want a play on the NHL team name, but Wranglers has been the minor-hockey name for Vegas for a long time, and I rather like that tradition. When (not if, I have my doubts the Blues will want to even bother trying to deal with the Wolves again after how completely aggravating to both sides their first stint together ended up being) St. Louis forms their own club, it'll most likely be in Kansas City; it's close-ish to the parent club; and while it seems as though not much NHL support is there, I could see an AHL team doing well in the city.
  14. I'm sickly curious about how the Flyers' scrapped teal 90's alts would've been considered today, had they actually made it to the ice; would they be considered like the Burger King or Pooh Bear jerseys, an absolute mistake that should never have happened, or would they become the Fisherman, a set initially reviled but that eventually becomes something of a "so bad, it's good" thing? Additionally, this is the best Washington has ever looked;
  15. Not "missing", per sey; but I suppose since we're approaching the beginning of the WHL season, I should note that the Ice are still listed as the Kootenay Ice on the WHL logos page, even though the team has already played preseason games as the Winnipeg Ice. Might be a good idea to touch that up.
  16. Looks like the NAHL Kansas City team has filed a trademark for a logo using the Scouts name;
  17. It's ultimately a bit minor; but I noticed that the mothership has the wordmarkless version of the Canucks' current logo as an alternate, but hasn't put it in the Primary Logos section...despite the new alternate logo for the 19/20 season already being up under the alternate logos section. Would make the page more consistent if someone added the wordmarkless logo to the Primary Logos section and maybe also added the new jerseys into their respective sections, since right now it makes it look like the only new thing for 2019/20 is the alternate logo.
  18. There's a reason Canadiens fans would rather cheer for the Bruins, a team they utterly despise, over the Leafs if the Canadiens aren't an option during playoff time; Montréal and Toronto have the oldest and most storied rivalry in the NHL, which is one of the oldest rivalries in all of sports. It definitely bleeds over into other sports, too; the Toronto FC and Montréal Impact, for example, have a spirited rivalry. Even the cities themselves have been rivals for much of their existence, stemming from how they represent both sides of Canada. The two are the San Francisco and Los Angeles of Canada, in my opinion; mostly friendly to each other, but mortal enemies when it comes to sports. If the Expos ever return in the same division as the Jays, you will see the Jays be one of their most heated rivals, because Montreal and Toronto cannot stand each other when it comes to sports; never have and never will. A Montréal fan cheering for a Toronto team is like a Oilers fan cheering for the Flames. It'll never happen.
  19. I think it's more just that it came off as really trying to pat themselves on the back after a disappointing playoffs performance. Like they were saying "yeah, we totally blew it in the playoffs, but we were top of the West in the regular season! It's all good, right?". Ultimately, the banner just kinda represents a failure of a season where they were great in the regular season and completely fell apart in the playoffs. It'd be like Tampa hanging a "Regular Season Eastern Conference Champions" banner this coming season even though they got curbstomped in the first round by a team that never even won a playoff series before.
  20. coughnashvillecough Oh wow, where did that coughing come from?
  21. LOL, they didn't even bother to edit out the wordmarks on their stolen logos.
