  1. I think this is comparing apples to oranges a bit. What makes this a bit different is that the players that don't want to wear the uniforms are doing so mostly because of religious beliefs. Whether or not you agree with those religious beliefs doesn't matter. They have the right to those beliefs under the First Amendment. So what you call bigotry is just the belief system of their religion. I'm not arguing for or against the NHL's decision to not do warmup jerseys. I'm claim zero religious beliefs so this statement isn't coming from an uber-Christian point of view. But you have players from Russian background, Christian backgrounds, etc that have the right to their beliefs. Full disclosure here: I don't care what people do in the bedroom. Have a great time as long as everyone is consenting and of age. But I've never understood why an arena of people would need to celebrate that by wearing pride jerseys. Especially when half of the stadium is children who should be more concerned about picking up a bobble head than celebrating people's sexual orientation.
  2. One of my favorite Seinfeld episodes
  3. You can do that for literally every major city though. MIA for Miami, CLE for Cleveland. Slapping PGH on the front is just lazy. At this point, I wish it was just an alt uniform rollout and drop the City Connect BS. The City Connect aspect seems like it is causing every one of these uniforms to have some cheesy element. In reality, I actually like this set a lot. Change that PGH on the front and this would be a killer alt uniform for the pirates. The PGH just downgrades the entire thing IMO
  4. They should have made a new black alt that matched the primaries. That would be a great three jersey set
  5. This is perfect for the Flyers honestly. The return of the original shade is great. They didn't have to reinvent the wheel here. The alternate is whatever. But that primary set is pretty close to perfect.
  6. I think I dislike Anaheim's more, but I will agree with you (and we seem to be in the minority). As time goes on, the VGK arm striping bothers me more and more. I said it earlier on the thread, but that red stripe makes zero sense. Hell the white barely makes sense. Gold, black, and charcoal is all they need on that sweater. If you must enter either white or red or both, then at least do it in a way that is cohesive throughout the sweater. The gold doesn't bother me. Its the fact that they just used the original sweater design and paint bucketed the colors around to make a gold version that bothers me. It just doesn't work for some reason.
  7. Panther's black helmet looks fine to me. I just wish there was a splash of silver on it, and the pants. Now, the silver stripes on the shoulders are basically the only silver in the set. Now those seem out of place to me. They went from being a pretty good balance of blue, silver, and black. I'm fine with them leaning more towards blue and black, but they needed to commit to that on the jersey as well.
  8. The only two that I enjoy are the Rockies and the Angels. I think I like the Rockies just because of how insanely boring their day to day sets are. The addition of green is nice. I think the Angels set is great actually. I can't tell you how in the world it is a City Connect uniform, but I like the vibe of it.
  9. The arm stripes on all of the Knights sweaters just bother me. A block arm, followed by a thick stripe, followed by a red stripe that just kind of floats there with no purpose. I think if those were fixed (and I'm not sure what the solution would be), then the shimmery gold is fine.
  10. "How can we connect this to the city of Pittsburgh?" "Eh, just slap PGH on the front. Then we will just make up some BS about the angle of the letters being the same angles as some building or bridge." "Done"
  11. First, I want to make clear that I do not like the ads. But, singling out the NHL is sort of ridiculous. At this point, every major sport other than the NFL has them. It always feels like MLS/soccer gets a free pass on this discussion too. Not sure if it is because everyone is so used to them. But the ad is literally the largest thing on the jersey. Again, I hate them. Hockey sweaters sort of have this sacredness to them, and I think that is why people seem more passionately against the ads in the NHL.
  12. I know I shouldn't... but there's something I like about Washington Space Commanders
  13. This will forever be my favorite Cardinals logo.
  14. The Canucks issue is exactly like what we are talking about on the NFL thread about the Texans. It's extremely tough to establish a brand when your name is so vague. Your looking for a logo the identifies the team, but how do you visually create that when the name itself is so abstract? I don't know the right answers for either team . I'm not sure any of Canucks logos in the past have done a good job either.
  15. It's pretty tough to make a dynamic brand when your team is named the Houston Texans. I mean, right from the hop, their branding couldn't be any more lifeless. Pair that with a red white and blue color scheme that has been used by countless teams in all of sports and you get a super generic product.
  16. I always LOVED the Aeros green sweater
  17. No kidding. They unveiling these like we are supposed to be excited about the "jersey patch partner." As if it's a new tradition that we should all be proud of.
  18. The first letter in HOUSTON is the same "H" that was leaked previously. I don't think that's coincidence. A worn-out black shirt with a navy/red/white logo is throwing me off to where I don't want to pass judgement just yet. But my initial reaction is that it does not look good.
  19. On the Cardinals: If they just had pants stripes on the red set, I think its an A+ set. I'm just ignoring the fact that they will wear red on red a ton. That's a losing battle. But pants stripes on the red set would do wonders. Other than that, I think its a good update for a classic team that only needs a clean look with that helmet. On the Texans: This H-Town thing with the "H" logo that has circulated has disaster written all over it. My fear isn't that they will look too much like the Titans. I just have a feeling it's going to be a messy cluster all on it's own, regardless of the color scheme. This seems like a total rebrand. Their current branding is bland, but nothing that has been leaked or rumored makes me excited either. H-Town is cheesy, the font is cheesy... IDK what the right answer is, but this doesn't feel like it.
  20. Now swap the red and white sock and we would really have a good set
  21. This might be the truest statement ever muttered on these boards. I've lived in STL my entire life and it always confuses me how much people from other areas hate everything about the city. Trust me, there are aspects of this town that are a complete and utter mess. But traveling to other midwest cities like Indy, Memphis, KC, Cincy... i don't see much of a difference. I feel like I'm in the same town, with the same small pockets of high crime, same cool bar areas, etc. But, you bring up provel cheese or pork steaks to an outsider and they immediate go on a rant about how terrible it is
  22. I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. I think it's a great return to the previous shade.
  23. An alt helmet with the bear logo might look pretty cool instead of that orange alt. Might almost have a college football feel.
  24. This. The red always felt like a VGK stripe to me. Just make it salmon. Not only would it fit with the branding and color scheme, but deep down, a salmon third might actually be awesome if done correctly. I'm guessing that maybe the eye didn't stand out in salmon as much as red, but would mind seeing one of our talented people mock that up.
  25. Let the great "Calgary need black" debate begin!! I disagree that they need black and feel that their current set is perfect. That's not to say that there isn't a space for an alternate containing black since it is part of their history. It just feels like it will lead to an inevitable slide back being part of their main identity in 10-15 year. Rinse and repeat. Now that you mentioned that hem stripe, I can't unsee it. Good eye.
