  1. Hustle Town, Slam Diego, Brew City.... yikes. This stuff is cringy.
  2. At St. Louis Blues games, Ameren Missouri (our local electric utility company) sponsors the Blues Power Play. It drives me absolutely crazy. St. Louisans don't have a choice on who we purchase our electric utilities from. They have a natural monopoly of basically the entire metro region. So why are they wasting money advertising at a sporting event?? Save the money and lower our damn bill.
  3. I've changed my mind on the Canucks new skate jerseys. I dig em. I actually think the elimination of white from the crest is a nice update and make for a cleaner logo. And once it was gone from the crest, it makes sense to eliminate it from the stripes/numbers. I don't love the number font but it doesn't bother me that they would want to have something consistent for once since they have had more uniforms and color schemes than the rest of the league combined
  4. Man I view the Flyers as having one of the classic unique looks in the league. I don't like the sound of this at all.
  5. Wordmark crest just don't work on most hockey jerseys IMO. The star in Arizona feels like it would fit the Wild more than the Coyotes. I also feel like the hem design is fitting, but the designer forgot to fill it in with the paint bucket . Swap out the word mark for just a large crescent moon crest and I might be on board with this color scheme.
  6. I think the helmet looks fantastic in blue and white, but that's just me.
  7. It reminds me of what the Sens just did with their primaries. Went back to the logo everyone wanted, but changed the rest of the design so now its just a sub par version of the original. I don't hate it... I just wish it was the original skate jersey.
  8. They didn't use Navy/White in St Louis. They were royal/yellow when they first moved to STL and when they won the Super Bowl in STL. Then switched to Navy/Gold. They were blue and white in LA only in the 60s and 70s. Regardless, if the fans didn't want it, then I guess that makes some sense.
  9. I will just never understand why the Rams reinvented the wheel instead of building around the blue and white helmet that they had when they first moved to LA. That uniform set during their first few years was visually awful. But in reality, the helmet and simple pants were a good start to what could have been a sick uniform. All they really needed was a jersey to match and white socks.
  10. Bias alert: I am a Blues fan, so I'm sure that plays into this post. But the Blues look rad in the RRs last night.
  11. I think if the replica had the same sleeve stripes as the authentic, that would be the perfect look. All in all, I really dig the fact that they owned that magenta color. Very unique. Paired with the navy, it reminds me a tad of the Kraken color scheme, with a unique bright color paired with navy. The yellow acts in a similar fashion to the red eye on the Kraken logo. It makes me wish that the Kraken's color scheme was flipped with aqua being dominant and navy being a trim color.
  12. As a Blues fan, I love what they did here. I was a little scared that they would just cram another 90s inspired jersey down our throats. The last reverse retro fit the program perfectly, but didn't feel like a Blues jersey. We have had too many red rivals. This feels like it fits with their branding while also being unique and a cool part of team history
  13. Sharks, Canucks, Kings, Oilers, Blues, and Devils... all really rad Why do I love that Devils/Scouts jersey? It turned out waaaay cooler than I imagined.
  14. Never thought of it from that angle... I definitely see where your coming from here. Thanks for giving me that perspective on it. I think that angle could lead to a slippery slope a tad. Notre Dame Fighting Irish literally does that exact thing. It reduces the "Irish" brand to a fighting leprechaun and a clover. That's just one example. But for the purpose of discussion, I think you nudged my opinion a bit.
  15. That's totally fair. I guess that kind of was the point of my post. Having Native American imagery and names in and of itself isn't the issue. It's the way it was done with those two names that's the issue. Maybe the entire brand didn't need to be trashed. Maybe it just needed to be updated to honor people instead of using slurs. I get that it was way safer to just rebrand. I get that it made more sense to lose all NA imagery. And I don't want to see Chicago change a thing. Quite the opposite actually. I want them to do MORE to represent Native Americans the RIGHT WAY. Sometimes it's tough to put this stuff into text the right way and sorry to mods if the topic is stepping over the line.
  16. I always thought the best route for both Cleveland and Washington was to keep a Native American theme and most of their current branding, but shift the name and images to something that not only appeases the PC police, but honors tribes. I think it would be possible to turn what some people view as derogatory branding into a positive for everyone. I don't think I have a specific example on the top of my head, but you could lose the name Indians, change it to the name of a tribe (Apache, Cherokee, etc), and then dedicate profits of new merch to certain organizations for Native Americans. The organization could use the branding to promote education about Native American history. Instead of running from the past all of the time and acting like it didn't exist, maybe use it as a building block to something better. Maybe instead of the cartoony laughing "Indian," they could incorporate some real Native American imagery. IDK, JMO. Also, I can't believe the Blackhawks just keep under the radar with all of this. Their logo is almost the same as Washington's old logo. It's almost comical.
  17. Maybe I am out of the loop, but do people love the Hurricanes branding? I get 90s thing... it's just the time we are in and it's happening in other parts of our culture as well. Might be annoying for some and I get that. But, I just don't see the love for the southern markets that you see. I kind of think the NHL is in a pretty good place. A lot of the franchises have some solid primary sets. Thirds/Heritage are used appropriately. Special game jerseys may be a tad hokey, but that's the point.
  18. That has to be the most BS ever spewed about a beanie hat.
  19. Instead of making the breezers black, I wish SJ would have made the stripe on the breezers match the stripes on the jersey. The black stripes are too thin. Or maybe even switch the white and black on the breezer stripe. Either way, i just think that stripe on the breezer needs to be adjusted and that would help the balance:
  20. Does it mean anything that all of the fans are wearing that burnt orange color in the stadium video?
  21. Everything that I have seen doesn't back up the idea that interest in hockey is "waning" in the US. Actually it's quite the opposite. Participation in youth hockey has never been greater even with the outrageous costs. College hockey has grown. And the NHL isn't plagued with half empty stadiums around the league. TV deals are growing, the cap is projected to grow... I could go on. Will the NHL ever be the NFL or the NBA? Nope. But it doesn't need to be and that also doesn't mean that interest is waning.
  22. While I agree that a team called the Golden Knights should wear a gold primary jersey, I just don't love their shade of gold. It comes across more as a mustard color to me. I would think a gold jersey would pop a bit more, but it just seems drab. IDK, something isn't right with it, but I can't really put my finger on it. The crest gets lost somehow too.
  23. Mizzou switching from a true gold to yellow is a big downgrade and now I fear its too far gone to switch back. At least bring back the block M full time and straighten out the numbers and it would already be a massive upgrade.
  24. The Chargers looked sick last nick. White jersey, yellow pants, blue socks is just a fantastic combo. Paired with the Chiefs made a great looking game.
  25. I think the only thing I want to change about these new Sharks unis is the stripe pattern on the road jersey. I would like teal on the outside instead I think. It would make it feel more like teal is still the dominant color. The way it is currently, the black sort of dominates. Edit: After looking at them again, I realized I worded this incorrectly. I think I want to see it where the black stripes and middle white stripe is switched. Teal-white-black-white-teal instead of teal-black-white-black-teal.
