  1. That Halos uniform is so much better than the actual alt the team uses. No transparent, hard to make out number and wordmark and it's got Anaheim on it.

One suggestion would be to make the cap navy with a red bill and button, and to make the ANGELS part of the wordmark flat and with a navy and white outline to match the number and sleeve logo.

  2. No way would a team in Miami that was playing in that leased stadium and struggled for much of it's existance have a large fanbase. They would almost certainly be playing to a half empty stadium at best.

I do like the colours of the badge, which are pretty, but the badge looks very cookie cutter. Something with Art Deco fonts and inspired by the Miami Beach Art deco district would work a lot better with the great looking pink and blue colours.

SMU's D-Dallas logo is still just an alternate look, much like a DFW hat for the Rangers could be with City Connect or something. SMU doesn't have a state in its name so it's still not quite apples-to-apples to the Texas Rangers.

There's no rule in baseball that everything HAS to be about the city. We've seen it with Colorado, Florida, and Texas that non-city names work just fine.

Colorado does work better than Florida and Texas IMO, considering that Denver is by far the largest city in the state and the majority of the states population lives in the Denver area.

And if I recall correctly, wasn't most of the fanbase of the Marlins in favour of Miami as the identifier instead of Florida?

Black and yellow are the normal team colors though, and everyone knows Pittsburgh's colors are because of the flag.

Having every team tied to the flag seems cool at first, but then again it'd be weird if the NY Jets were an orange and blue football team or the Tampa Bay Lightning were red, blue and yellow hockey team.

You mean if the Tampa Bay Lightning were a white, red, navy blue, yellow, gold,  green, orange, ultramarine blue and royal blue team?

Are you implying the Royals uniform should be powder blue? That wouldn't be historically accurate for a late 1910s/early 1920s-inspired design. I totally agree about your suggestion of front pockets, though. Would be cool to see.

It probably shouldn't be powder blue. Just to my eyes it looks gray and in the description it was "double blue". Myself, I would describe it as gray with a very, very subtle blue tint.

Semantics and mismatched buttons aside, it's a really nice uniform with several KC Monarchs touches. I dig it.

  6. The Royals base uniform colour looks grey to me, and it would be nice if the buttons matched the shirt as they do with every other uniform except the Blue Jays, but both uniforms are really good.  One thing that I would like to see for some teams are pockets on the shirts, for most of them it would get in the way of the script, but the Pirates and the Pale Hose could do with one on the chest as they have the headspoon scripts.

Overall most of these designs are great, Nats are my fave.

I'd prefer white with a red sash to better emulate the flag (and honor the 1950 team that beat England in one of the biggest upsets ever), but that might be stepping too far into Peru territory.  Either way though, I totally agree that we need a consistent look.

    It should be fine.

Blue cuffs, collar, shorts and socks should set them apart and the Sash goes from the top left to the bottom right of the front of the shirt, while Peru have a sash on the back as well as the front.

I'm of the stance that the Hurricanes have never looked good at any point, but at least the original all-red look was different enough from the other red/black teams and also different enough from the Red Wings to be their own thing. Also, the hurricane flag logo is not my favorite. It's too tall. The old flag logo with the one flag was technically a tropical storm warning flag, but who cares, it was a better logo. It's called artistic license.

The hurricane flag looks good on the front of the Jerseys and better than the stylized hurricane or the CANES wordmark, which was a really dumb idea. The storm logo design wise is okay, but the big problem was the one flag. It was like a Bengals logo that showed a Cheetah. It needed two flags and thankfully it was fixed.

As for the proportions, I'm sure they could be improved by having the outline of the Carolinas behind the logo.

I love this, to be honest I have never been a fan of the Rockies purple and their entire color scheme. Same with the logo, just feels so tacky and out dated. I love what you did with the font and bringing in the elements of the mountains into the jersey. I've thought the Rockies would look great with a Colorado "C" logo on the hat that is on the flag, but I've seen a lot of people who aren't fans of the idea because they would look to similar to the Cubs, which is fair. I've also thought the Rockies could ditch this color scheme entirely and go with the Flag colors, or Colors like the ones the Avs and Rapids wear, but again I feel like a lot of people hate this idea.

With that being said I love what you did with these colors, changing the purple slightly and brining in gold is something really new and striking, and much more interesting than what they currently have.

    Great work!

Thanks! The purple I was always going to keep, the problem the Rockies have isn't with that colour, it's that they have wordmarks that are stuck in the 1990s and have gone stale, and the black and silver together don't work that well with the purple. They should keep the purple (as mentioned in America the Beautiful), but pair it either with gold or with columbine, those colours bring out the best in violet.

As for this series, I've decided to start again with a new template which I'm currently in the process of mocking up. I've just grown tired of the one used here, and felt that it's dated,  been holding my designs back and that I can make a better one to do my designs justice. I'll have it finished shortly then start a new series with a new template that will have shoes too.

Thanks for all the comments, I'll take them into account and when the new thread is started, you'll see the designs based on your recommendations.

  10. The Dodgers, Padres and Giants look good.

I like the idea for Arizona and the purple/turquoise/copper is far superior to their current black and red with a different shade of turquoise added as an afterthought. Using cream instead of white as well as getting rid of the Snake from the front of the shirt would improve the uniform even further.

Never been a fan of the brand at all, but the original Ducks logo looks better with a jade triangle on an eggplant background. I have no idea why they created a separate logo with grey to use on eggplant instead. It didn't stand out better. How could it? It's grey.

No idea, at first I thought it had something to do with color matching, but they used a jade triangle on the white jersey at the time, so its not that.

Up next is another one of the teams that helped inspire this series, the Cleveland Lumberjacks.

The old IHL Lumberjacks look had it all: An oddly buff cartoon beaver, a teal and yellow filled color scheme, out-of-the-box angular striping, and a branding emphasis on the "JACKS" nickname instead of the team's actual moniker. As much as I love the '90s aesthetic the team had, it didn't age all that well, and these jerseys remedy that. Teal and yellow are removed from the color scheme, and the logo is reworked to no longer emphasize a dumb nickname. The angular, circular-saw inspired striping remains, though, and is implemented all over the jersey. The alternate jersey takes after the team's Pittsburgh Penguins-style inaugural jerseys, while also adding new flavor to the throwback look.

The Lumberjacks were one of my favorite teams to work on thus far. What do you think?

The light and Dark uniforms are  90s AF. And they are glorious, everything that is to be expected for this series. The striping and the logos in particular stand out.

The alt is okay, but it's just a jersey, and I do think that for a series that is all about 90s style designs, removing teal, a very 90s colour, is an odd step and I think the alt could stand to use some teal in the mix.

Minor quibble though, this series has been really good so far and hopefully it will be seen through to the end.

Playing in the same stadium is only a recent development. These two clubs are much older and therefore have more established geographic fan bases in the city

That's fair, just I was wondering how it came to pass that one team represents the North Side and the other the South Side (Works team, patronage, starting out in a particular district or other social factor).

Love that Dodgers road alt! Can’t wait to see what you have planned for Miami.

Thanks, I think that LA should definately have a similar colour uniform in their regular rotation as it looks so good.

    So, onto Miami.

It's been a while. I came to the conclusion that the template I am using, while okay, has loads of faults and after this thread, I'll be retiring it and using my own from now on, as I feel like I need to use my own. I'll then refine the concepts here in a new thread using the new template some time in the not too distant future, and I'll be incorporating many of the suggestions here, like using violet and columbine as the colours for Colorado. Even with the mods, it feels like somebody elses template and not mine, and there is still a lot I don't like about it now that I've used it for a while (shirt stitching, the outlines on the placket and the ones separating the baselayer from the shirt and the stirrups from the socks, the trouser pinstriping, the asymmetry with the stitching and the pinstripes on the shirt, no shoes), and the new template will sort them out

    Now onto the fish...

The pinstripes and teal return, and so do the sleeveless jerseys, and I included a black and a teal heavy set for the home, the road only really works with black. The font used for the script is Belgrad, and the supporting colours of pink and light blue were taken from buildings in the Art Deco district in Miami. The road has shadow pinstripes, and both sets have "This is the 305" as a hanger effect.

For this set, I was inspired by the concepts found here, especially the choice of font.

The alt home has a headspoon in pink, blue and black along with sleeve trim, and has white pants with no pins. The alt is black with pink and blue as the supporting colours.

And finally, a white uniform for Friday Nights.

So thats Miami, next up is the Cream City.

    Tampa Bay Lightning

This also fixes the problem of the original having a blue sky and black water.

I don't think that was a problem, depending on the time of day and atmospheric conditions, the sky can look blue and the water black during a storm.

    1fzzico9rlz41.png&f=1&nofb=1

Think that was the idea behind the original jersey, though it does work with the blue and black flipped.

The original Blues jersey had a white name on the back for 6 seasons as opposed to the 3 with all those outlines. It would be a lot easier on the eyes in just white.

The Maple Leafs jersey looks great with the colours flipped.
