I’m sure this will come as a surprise to everyone…

The Saints are avoiding the gold pants yet again this Sunday. They confirmed white jerseys/black leotards at the Vikings.

At this point, it can’t even be superstition anymore. The Saints have lost twice in the black pants this season already. They literally hate the gold pants… smh

For reference: The last time they wore this combo at Minnesota

Yes, they're not perfect, black leggings, etc. but I welcome this look from the Panthers because it provides some contrast and improved color distribution. The thick blue stripe with silver trim really pops on the black.

The all-white look has been worn so many times over the years that I welcome the new uniform matchups brought about by the black pants. I especially prefer them when the opposing team is in white pants:

I don't agree. The Panthers are one of the worst offenders because they insist on wearing the black pants with silver helmets.

As has ben said, they's done it before, and I would be in favor if them doing it more often. They wear Silver helmets, and like the Lions, Cowboys, Raiders, and Patriots don't need White pants. Silver pants are the best looks these teams have (and all the Raiders and Cowboys should have.)

Metallic-colored helmets should always be worn with metallic-colored pants. That's what it comes down to.

I may be on an island here, but I think that the combo that the Pamthers chose for tonight's game (white jersey/black pants) works well with the Bears combo.

No. White jersey and black leggings just does not look good. As much as we make fun of all black and all white looks, there are way too many of these combos.

  5. I have no problems with the jersey. It's a fine looking jersey. Unfortunately, the jersey is not the only part of the uniform. And I simply cannot ignore the complete disaster that is their pants/socks decisions. Until they fix that, the new Patriots uniforms are firmly bottom-tier.

Washington wears the burgundy that will be a good looking matchup. My candidate for the best uniform matchup of week 10 is Jets vs Raiders if NYJ wears green pants.

My thoughts on the week's matchups:

    -Panthers/Bears will be an eyesore

-Colts/Pats would be great with the Pats in silver pants and the Colts in blue socks, but neither of those are likely

-Ravens are confirmed to be all black, so that's going down the drain

-Packers/Steelers looks as good as it possibly can with the Steelers going with block numbers

-Hopefully the Texans don't go with all white at Cincinnati (I don't even think the black-striped pants and black socks are that bad)

-Saints/Vikings can go either way depending on pants/socks decisions

-Niners/Jaguars will be good but not great (thanks, Jacksonville)

-Titans/Bucs isn't great, no matter what pants the Bucs wear with their white jersey. Titans all-navy will be just as hideous as ever.

    -Falcons/Cardinals will be brutal

-Lions/Chargers should be good as long as the Lions don't wear practice pants

-Giants/Cowboys is standard (good, not great)

    -Commies/Seahawks should be good

-Jets better not wear black pants. Wearing them against the Raiders will be almost as bad as when the Lions deployed their abomination against the Raiders

-Broncos/Bills will be good if the Bills wear white pants

Y'all are crazy, this is a great look with the black socks. It'll still be a nice looking game with good contrast.

I'm not mad that this is a bad look, I'm mad because it could be so much better. Tell me you wouldn't take this

    over this

    spacer.png

(had to do a quick and dirty edit because the Jaguars have never worn this combo before)

The other reason I'm mad is because they decided to do this for their "throwback-themed" game.

Seattle starting wearing the grey pants with the navy jersey in Russell Wilson's last season with the Seahawks, right?

No, they were doing it from the introduction of the set. This pic is from 2012.

The Sharks are an updated crest (fourth time's the charm!) from a perfect look. Oh, and a metallic silver middle stripe would be better. And black pants and maybe gloves for the teal jersey away to break up the mono-teal look.  I also wouldn't hate bumping up the brightness on the shade of teal a bit, as it's gotten darker and darker over the years...

Now that I think about it, the original sweater is still undefeated:

Honestly, I'm fine with there being no silver on the jersey. And I actually like them leaning more into the teal with their helmet and pants. Won't argue with you regarding the logo.

BFBS exists when you have a black uniform in a color scheme without black. It is not NFNS if their primary color is navy, it's just overusing navy. If the Vikings added a navy jersey, that would be NFNS

Fair. The Patriots are just completely embarrassing themselves with their current uniforms.

  11. The team is terrible (although they beat the Flyers lol), but this Sharks set is quickly becoming my favorite look they've ever had

(The only change I'd make would be making the road jersey numbers teal with black trim, instead of the other way around)

You can’t call something NFNS when they have had navy for over 2 decades

I can when for two full seasons the ONLY uniforms they wore were all navy and white jersey with navy leggings (Even now, the only games over the last couple of seasons that didn't feature an overload of navy were three silver pants games and three throwback games). Other teams that occasionally wear all navy (Seahawks, Texans, Bears) have other pant and sock combos that they can mix in (and do). I'm still not convinced that the Patriots are going to do the right thing and make their silver pants their primary, especially since Robert Kraft is apparently fond of all navy.

How about the entire Super Bowl playoff run AND the Katrina “Rebirth” game….

I can name a lot more low points in the black and white pants, but I’d rather not relive those moments. Screw the legacy because it’s not trendy anymore. Smh

    Let me see:

The black leggings have seen (off the top of my head):

-Getting destroyed in the 2006 NFC Championship

    -The Beastquake

    -The Minneapolis Miracle

    -The no-call against the Rams

    -Drew Brees' final game

And the only playoff game they've played in all white was an overtime loss to the Vikings

This happened after they discontinued the “mandatory Color Rush” program that forced teams into these uniforms for the Thursday night games. 2018 I think? That’s when you started getting the Cowboys in white pants with the navy jerseys.

Embarrassing. The worst uniform decision the NFL has ever made was starting the Color Rush program.

It's just annoying that a white top and alternate pant has become a de-facto primary home uniform.

When did the NFL essentially start allowing Color Rush uniform elements with the primary uniforms? I think that if you use any portion of your alternate look, whether that's the helmet, the jersey, the pants, or the socks, that should count as one of your three alternate slots. Teams should have to designate which pant/sock combos are their primary and stick to that for the vast majority of the season.

Let’s be honest…the Patriots would benefit from less navy in general. Blue should still be their primary color (they’re not the Redcoats), but they need better balance in their colors. Less blue, more red, more silver.

Which is my point. The Patriots focus on navy as their identity at the cost of all their other colors. They've had silver pants this whole time, and have worn them a total of three times, all in the last two years. They went from terrible uniforms that stuck around due to success to terrible uniforms that just seem to be NFNS (navy for navy's sake, they even wear navy leggings every time they wear the white jersey). I'd actually consider the jersey itself to be an upgrade from the Brady era, but the rest of the uniform drags it way down.

    There’s a Patriots player wearing Brady-era pants

    spacer.png

This is bizarre. Apparently the player in question, #75 Conor McDermott, was a sixth round pick of the Patriots in 2017 before being waived during training camp before that season. He then did not return to the Patriots until 2022, by which time the uniforms had changed. It's possible he kept his pants from his first training camp stint, but I feel like that's unlikely. In which case, why is the Patriots' equipment manager still giving out the old pants??
