I really, genuinely think it's a sunbelt problem - there's never been this kind of vitriol when the Isles have had a playoff series against a Flyers or Penguins, at least not in recent years. hell, even that one series with the Bruins felt like it had an undercurrent of mutual respect despite the whole "New York Saints" thing. that just ceases to exist when it's the Canes, Lightning, etc. across the ice. they don't give me the impression that they want to be "part" of the greater league ecosystem, they give me the impression that they want to take that ecosystem, smash it to pieces, and rebuild it in their own mayonnaise-flavored image.

remember when whichever team limped into the Southeast Division title got sent home in a coffee can like clockwork year after year? that was nice. we should go back to that.

Agreed. The Hurricanes' whole persona is built on taking "traditional" hockey ideals and shoving them in the face of everyone else. I think it stems from them leaning into the "Bunch of Jerks" label in 2019. If old hockey just shut their mouths that year I don't think Carolina's social media presence ever becomes this insufferable.

  2. I know I'm in the minority, but I really don't like these. Besides switching back to the original shade of navy blue so that it can match the helmet, everything else is a downgrade. I don't like either of the two alternates and the number font is significantly worse.

I had forgotten the Jaguars briefly had striped black pants before going all leotard. If the '98 throwbacks got made permanent, I wouldn't be averse.

Was this paired with black socks? If so, no thank you.

I don't hate the Texans new numbers, but also from what we have seen of the new home uniform, it seems like a lateral (if not) a minor downgrade. Like it still will look like the Texans, but they just decided to minimalism themselves in the most obnoxious way.

I hate the new numbers. They look incredibly gimmicky compared to the original font, which was much closer to standard block.

It also didn't help that they decided to switch to navy numbers outlined in red on the road.

I’m not sure if I’d make this switch if it was up to me, but it makes the design feel a bit fresher. Then again, I’m 32 and navy blue is really all I remember the Broncos wearing besides the odd throwback here or there.

This is precisely why I can't stand their team. I have absolutely nothing against the players, I'm sure they're great people just like any NHLers you'll ever come across, but their marketing and fanbase is unbearable (and yes, it does extend to their visual identity as well).

I've seen this enough from you in this thread to offer you some advice:

    "Should have."

we really didn't need someone in this thread becoming the grammar police

Will they wear contrasting socks at all this season? That determines how I feel about these a lot!

Based on the photos from the release and based on the precedent that the Cardinals set, I wouldn't hold your breath

I looked on GUD and you are correct. So yes, 1977. I guess with the Seahawks 1983-2001 throwbacks, they are aiming at the 1992 versions.

@ruttep I do not think the Broncos jerseys and helmet is bad. The problem is the stripe in the back of the helmet and then the pants stripes need to lose the 5280 stuff. But nothing to bad. I am just worried about the Texans look.

And the socks. Which all match the pants color. Eww.

But my main problem is that they decided to keep the same colors. I cannot understate how much more I'd like these jerseys if they were in the royal blue and deeper orange of the throwbacks. That navy and flat shade of orange just don't do it for me.

The socks should be the least of their worries.

Disagree. Socks can make or break a set in my eyes. Good pants/socks combos (i.e. not leggings) can save an otherwise boring or ugly set, while monochrome and leggings can ruin a good set (not sure I'd call this set good, but it'd be better with contrasting socks). Unfortunately, the latter situation is far more common nowadays.

    1. The Bruins marketing and social team has been killing it with the centennial stuff all season.

    2. I think the jerseys look a lot closer to that in person, it just doesn't come across that way from a distance on a TV screen.

True. It looks so washed out on a TV screen. Ends up looking more like this color
