  1. Count me in amongst those who think the Seahawks look better now (ducks); the striping motif is consistent, the color scheme is perfect for the Pacific Northwest, they’re one of the few teams that can pull off the mono-navy look. That green just pops off of the navy. Navy over grey looks great, white over navy looks great, green over navy looks…well, they’re not perfect. But the throwbacks also look great, and it was cool to see them on the road. Wish more teams would do that against the Cowboys.
  2. I can see where this thread is going, and I’ll just take it where we’re all headed to: Dallas only needs two colors: Dark Royal Blue and Metallic Silver-Blue. That’s it. And white jerseys at home, of course.
  3. My understanding (only because I’ve heard the story a million times) is that they got creamed by the Eagles in Philly in the 1980 NFCCC in their blue jerseys and Tex said they hell with it and made it navy (because it’s “tougher?”) Tex probably had this on his mind for a while after they lost SB V in blue and won the rest of them in white. I’ve never heard the story about them wanting to be visually different from Detroit or Seattle. Doesn’t seem very “Cowboys” to change themselves because someone looks like them.
  4. I think so. The same way that Miami is WAH almost always. I also think that winning the last Super Bowl with Brady in white had a lot to do with it. It’s a shame. Red over Pewter is their best look; we may only see it once this year.
  5. The league missed a big opportunity by doing Color Rush over Throwback Thursdays. Even with the one-shell rule, enough teams had throwbacks for this to be possible (for crying out loud, a bunch of Color Rush uniforms ended up being throwbacks anyway).
  6. I feel like the Saints designed the black helmet to be worn with their black uniform and never bothered to check to see if it could be worn with anything other than an alternate. “Oh crap, we’ll HAVE to wear it with our only regular alternate.” It’s the ONLY scenario that I can think of that makes sense. It looks AWFUL. Perhaps the greatest NFC white throwback of all time, ruined by an unnecessary Seahawks ripoff lid. Egregious. Worst uniforms in 2023: Commanders all-white, Lions all-grey, Commanders all-black, ANY Saints uniform without gold pants.
  7. This is my annual complaint that the Cowboys throwbacks are actually faux backs. They’re supposed to be DARK ROYAL and not NAVY. Other than that, they’re my favorite uniforms of all time. All the Commies had to do was wear burgundy pants. That’s it. Instead, all-white against an extremely-white-uniform. Pathetic. I normally think the Broncos currently have the worst uniforms today, but not currently. Rebrand. Asap. Washington.
  8. Nothing about last night’s game tells me that the Eagles aren’t going to walk away with the 1 seed again. We keep talking about this gauntlet schedule, but it’s nonsense. They played the Chiefs, on the road, played POORLY, and won. Am I supposed to think the Bills have a shot in Philly? With Josh Allen playing like that? The 49ers are only a juggernaut IF they’re healthy and are always one injury away from regressing to the mean. That game is a coin flip at best. Ironically, Dallas is the biggest threat to the Eagles’ domination, and they would still be one game back if they won. Detroit goes 14-3? Great. Philly could wind up 15-2. As a Cowboys fan, last night’s outcome was killer. We could win out and be the 5 seed. The Chiefs game was the best opportunity for Philly to stumble but Brett Veach is a cheapskate and Chris Jones is a baby, so the greatest quarterback of this generation has to throw to bargain basement wideouts.
  9. The Panthers look so bad on a week-to-week basis that black/black with blue socks looks GREAT. A breath of fresh air.
  10. I feel like Tampa also wore their Oops-All-Charcoal on the road before. Maybe against the Broncos in orange .
  11. At last, my life is complete—I’ve created a uni-centric glossary term. Mr. Lucas, are you listening?
  12. That picture really, REALLY enforces the fact that the Broncos uniforms were absolutely designed to be Navy/Navy/Navy. The orange alternate was trotted out to appeal to the fans sell merchandise and then repurposed as the primary to appeal to fans. It was never meant to be the primary and it shows. For better or for worse, the navy functions much better. Denver, you want orange primary jerseys? Use the Color Rush/90s throwback. Permanently. Forever. I will accept mono-orange for every home game if means never having to see these current abominations ever again.
  13. Thoughts from week 10: —I swear, I think the Saints introduced their white white leggings just to make their black leggings more tolerable. Still not a good look, but not as ridiculous as the all-white. —Matchup of the week is definitely Baltimore-Cleveland. —The Dallas red helmet stripe: Meh. —The Cowboys, Packers and 49ers players wearing white socks with their classic white uniforms bum me out. —I actually think the Jag’s teal-o-Rama looks pretty good with black socks. —Again, the block numbers take the Steelers uniforms from a B to an A. Easily. —When can the Jets get a uniform do over? (I know it’s next year. Just not soon enough.)
  14. Ahhh yes, the period I like to call The Toughening, which saw ‘wimpy’ colors like royal blue and Kelly green get kicked to the curb in favor of darker, less inspired hues (see also: Buccaneers, Seahawks, introduction of Ravens, permanent Saints black pants, et al.). Someday, I’ll finish my essay on this…
  15. Man, those block numbers really take the Steelers from a second to a first tier uniform, no joke.
  16. Ahhh, so they have. I don’t know why I thought they stopped. I’m probably thinking of the Falcons’ gradient set, another uniform I hate.
  17. This happened after they discontinued the “mandatory Color Rush” program that forced teams into these uniforms for the Thursday night games. 2018 I think? That’s when you started getting the Cowboys in white pants with the navy jerseys.
  18. The Buccaneers knew they couldn’t restore the original pewter color so they went with the charcoal Nike threw at them in 2014. It wouldn’t shock me if they didn’t like the pewter, considering they seem to have shelved the all-pewter alternate (thank god). If there’s any team who would cave to pressure to modernize their throwbacks, it’s the Buccs. It’s about that time to start thinking about it if they wanted to do it. I’ve always wanted to see a version of the pirate flag unis with a white helmet, current logo, red jerseys, orange and pewter accents. Keep two throwbacks in rotation: 1977 and 2002.
  19. Unfortunately, I believe UniWatch already confirmed there wouldn’t be a Jags throwback uni, per the team’s PR people…maybe the big announcement is stadium related? Also @canzman didn’t the Titans get rid of their Columbia blue alts this year?
  20. The next month is going to be very, very interesting for the NFC. My Cowboys fell short tonight, but they came closer than I ever expected them too…I think we split the series with them later… Dallas’ next four opponent are the self-explanatory Giants, Panthers and Commies, and the very beatable Seahawks. The Eagles, on the other hand, have the Chiefs, Bills, 49ers and Cowboys (in Dallas). Will they push their tushes into a perfect record? Or will the Cowboys shove back? Should I ask the refs?
  21. There was a time when the Jets would wear green and the different greens on the jersey wouldn’t match. I long for those days.
  22. I’ll take Kelly green any day but I don’t mind the midnight. It’s a unique NFL color. Of course, they pair the green jerseys with white from the waist down… What a shame. Red over pewter has been their best combination for 25 years and they don’t even wear it. Im going to assume the Buccaneers have gone the way of the Cowboys and Dolphins. White at home and only break out their ‘primaries’ for special occasions.
  23. So, as it stands now, we have basically a number of teams with good color schemes: Saints Jets Jaguars Eagles Falcons Who have become, essentially, black and white teams. It’s gotten to a point that when we see Eagles green pants or Jets green jerseys, we’re rejoicing. If we see Saints ‘gold’ pants, we throw a dang parade. (Yes, the Jags have a teal primary, but look at them on the road and tell me there’s teal in their identity). You’re on thin ice too, Panthers…
  24. I wouldn’t say the Jets are “in shambles.” They’re 4-3 and defeated the defending NFC champions. They’ll get their star QB back sooner than later (although that may be a terrible idea). I would say as a team, they’re…trending up? Their uniforms, on the other hand…
