  1. One of my first posts was how your beloved Saints have one of the single most boring looks in the league. New Orleans is one of the most colorful cities in the nation, and their most common combinations are: khaki/black/black (home), khaki/white white and khaki/white/black(away). No stripes on the pants. They’re brilliant throwback now has an inexplicable Seahawks homage black helmet. This forum may be divided on the Buccaneers/Dolphins/Oilers, but CERTAINLY we can agree that the Saints looked better in 1967?
  2. I believe at the time I saw the 2002 Seahawks uniforms I said “Oh, I could see why they needed an update, their uniforms are kind of basi——OH MY GOD what in the world color blue is that?
  3. I think I figured out what gets people riled up about the Titans/Oilers discussion. They threw it back to the very last set of Oilers uniforms. In 2009 they wore ‘61 (I think) uniforms for the AFL celebration, but this past Sunday they wore the very last set that they wore before they bucked off to Tennessee(Yes I know that they wore WAH as the Tennessee Oilers, but you get my drift). It evokes the memories of an empty Astrodome, the Bud Adams demands, the sadness of Houston fans. I don’t think the discussion would be as fraught if they threw back to the 60s again. It’s like “remember these uniforms? This is what you could have if you just gave Bud what he wanted.” People outside of Tennessee probably aren’t thinking “this is paying homage to our history in Houston.”
  4. Well I guess we now know Kyle Brandt’s views on relationships. “Hey toots, get out of the way, I’m playin’ my game.” He just doesn’t think like us. “Hey those [fill in the blank] throwbacks are a much better uniform than the over-designed nonsense they’re wearing now.” Just doesn’t occur to him. Look at how good the Titans could look as opposed to….whatever they’re wearing now? “Who cares? Leave the past in the past.”
  5. Oh my dear god. I listen to a podcast about terrible movies called How Did This Get Made? There needs to be a podcast called How Did This Uniform Get Approved? Tonight’s Lions uniforms would be the pilot episode.
  6. I’m not that firmly planted in the “these teams need to wear their throwbacks full time” belief system, but we can all agree on the Dolphins, right? Maybe not the Patriots or Titans or Seahawks or Buccaneers, but DEFINITELY the Dolphins. It’s just a better uniform all the way around. The Commanders need gold pants with the burgundy jersey. NEED. Aren’t there some sitting in a Landover closet somewhere? I think we’re headed for the Falcons being the first 2020 uniform fail to try again. I bet (hope) the base a new modern set around the 1966 throwback, with the red helmet and pants to match. Would be perfect. I wouldn’t HATE a full time thread to discuss the aesthetic anomalies of the Dallas Cowboys uniforms…I think the white pants look great with the navy blues(that striping is amazing!) as long as their socks are navy too. Get a memo, Dak.
  7. Exactly. I was always befuddled with how that all worked out. The Browns got to keep their identity and Houston didn’t because…why? The people of Cleveland were more upset or something? The Oilers uniforms are indeed a nice reprieve from the jagged hodgepodge we see on Tennessee’s field every week. I wish that the Titans would have done something with powder blue and Tennessee orange, but oh well…in the late nineties, teams were darkening their color schemes for no reason… In Retro Bowl I set Tennessee’s colors to those of the state flag. It looks great. The shades of blue and red would actually be unique to the league.
  8. These Oilers uniforms are incredible (although I may like the Columbia blue helmets 5 percent better). These uniforms can legally belong to Tennessee and spiritually belong to Houston. Both can be true.
  9. Patriots in silver pants, amazing Oilers throwbacks, amazing Seahawks throwbacks, amazing Dolphins throwbacks. It’s a pretty great week of uniforms. If only the Cowboys had gone with the silvers pants and the Saints could stop wearing white ballerina tights. Oh well.
  10. And honestly, that would make the most sense for them. They don’t have too many other eras to throw back to and the Color Rush is only slightly different than the normal mono-purple. Give me the UCLA-stripe away unis to wear at Detroit and Chicago. Perfection.
  11. I think this is the worst officiating I have seen in 30 years of watching football. Like Replacement Ref-levels of bad.
  12. The term “fraud” in sports is so silly to me. The Baltimore Ravens are better than the Detroit Lions. That’s all. Are 31 teams frauds every year?
  13. Well, I think the “worst uniform ever” lists have a new addition today.
  14. No matter what shade of red the Bucs use, this is clear: they seem to be utterly committed and devoted to not using it.
  15. The Saints being in primetime is our semi-annual reminder that they sneakily have one of the worst uniforms in the league. Stripeless black pants with the black jerseys. Stripeless white pants with the white jerseys. Matching leggings with everything. They RUINED one of the only serviceable color rush sets with a pointless patterned black helmet, destroying their best look. Nike’s ‘gold’ is more of a thrice-washed khaki. They only remember they have amazing throwbacks every four to five years. Every single uniform combination looks unfinished, as if the gold crayon broke. Absolutely no character or identity whatsoever. At least the Titans and Commies use, you know, actual colors. The Saints need a rebrand, yesterday. You’re not off the hook either, Jags.
  16. As someone in recovery myself, this is pretty interesting. https://uni-watch.com/2023/10/19/nfl-made-raiders-maxx-crosby-change-sobriety-themed-facemask/
  17. I couldn’t agree harder. No Buccaneers uniform has ever been as bad than the “BROWNS DOWN THE LEG.”
  18. Damn, this is really illustrative. You didn’t have to do all of that and I appreciate you doing that. I love this board. The brighter tones on the right side make me appreciate the left a bit more, they work better with the black. Someday I’ll stop being lazy and whip up my Buccs concept with those brighter colors (white helmet and pants, red jerseys, 1997 flag logo, orange and pewter accents). FOR THE RECORD: I do think the 1997-2013 Buccaneers is the best Buccs look, a real modern classic. The reason the current look is lacking has to do with 1) a darker and inferior pewter color and 2) their confounding current aversion to wearing red over pewter —their best combo from the last three sets.
  19. Excellent point, but I think pewter socks would look better with the white pants. Especially going PWW.
  20. From a distance, I didn’t think these uniforms looked that bad. It had a few elements that I prefer to the current ones: —The brighter red —Red socks at home, pewter socks on the road —Incorporation of the creamsicle orange The problems lie in the details. The atrocious numbers, shoulder yokes, asymmetrical sleeves…weird striping…oversized logo… If they used that red/orange and the original 1997 pewter, they’d have a great looking set. We appreciate the current getup now because it’s not the bonkers 2014 look, but today it just looks horribly boring. Drab pewter, WAH constantly, more black than red. Snooze.
  21. The creamsicles absolutely need to be brought out more than once a year. They’re such a favorite amongst TB fans and us uniform enthusiasts alike that it’s befuddling they’re only bringing them back once per season. I can understand not doing it the maximum three times, but one just seems silly. It’s already over — we have to wait for a whole other season for these beauties again. Back to looking at those drab road uniforms at home for another two months…
  22. Greetings. Longtime lurker. I figured my first post here would be on the utterly infuriating my beloved Cowboys. The Boys just need dark royal and silver-blue. A gorgeous, unique scheme that throws back to their glory 70s days. The real crime? The ‘1960s throwback’ is navy. IT WAS DARK ROYAL IN 1960. THIS IS COMMON KNOWLEDGE. Come on Jerry.
