2023 NFL Regular Season Through Super Bowl LVIII
timjameskohler replied to PittsburghSucks's topic in Sports In General
The Texans -- Texans, definitely have the OROY, Coach of the Year, and will probably be playing in the divisional round. Wow. -
Are we not going to talk about how the jumpman logo is on that Broncos concept? Rendering the source totally unreliable? Did I miss something?
-
I prefer white helmets, when they look good -- Bills, Colts, Chargers all look superior with white helmets. (I know not everyone agree). Maybe I like the Jets better in green, but that's about it. But Denver? With a predominantly white logo? And no precedent? No thanks.

This cannot be overstated. That robo-horse is mostly white and would look incomprehensible on a white helmet. Even Elway can see that. Right?

You've seen the Commanders uniforms. So no.

2024 Thoughts: --I'm excited for the Texans. Their identity isn't bad, just a little generic. The red helmet has made it more interesting and the possibility of adding Columbia blue is very intriguing. I bet they do this: HOME: White helmet, all-navy (state flag look) (traditional) AWAY: Predominantly red accents with Columbia and navy, all-white uniform (modern-traditional) ALT 1 - Red helmet, mono-red (bull look, modern) navy accents ALT 2 - Columbia () probably mono-blue Of course all of these will likely UNFORTUNATELY be mono but hopefully we get some mixing and matching along the way. This isn't what I WOULD do, just my prediction. --The Lions will just probably have yet another new set of Honolulu blue and silver uniforms, just yet ANOTHER version of the same thing they've done for 70 years. Maybe there'll be black, in which case, ugh, but I would almost prefer black to that AWFUL mono grey nonsense. Unless they're going back to the 80s-90s look, this isn't promising. --If the Broncos listen to their fans, they may actually get this right. Make the color rush the primary and build off of that. I HIGHLY doubt that they'll go back to the D logo after winning three rings with the robo-horse, but it'll probably stay as an alt or something. What I would REALLY like is the return of the drunken steed early sixties throwbacks. And we all know what they SHOULD do: bring it back to 1996, royal helmet and all. Unfortunately I doubt they'll be that savvy. --I haven't been shy about what the Falcons need to do: Modernize the 1966 uniforms, and make red road pants with the same gold/white/black striping. Keep an alternate black helmet and pants for the folks who are into that sort of thing, but it's clear what the fans want. Unfortunately we have to look at these superhero costumes for another year....

It's either very interesting or foreboding...depending on your point of view... EDIT: My bad everyone...it's behind a paywall... https://uni-watch.com/2024/01/08/still-more-info-on-houston-texans-upcoming-uniforms-emerges/ instead

Those Cardinals uniforms would be head and shoulders above the previous set, if only they would mix and match. Alas... The 90's state flag white uniforms are so beloved...it's befuddling to think they ignored that direction in favor of mono-madness, shoehorning in silver, and a giant ARIZONA across the chest...

The Falcons got it right the first time, in 1966, but they didn't really have a bad uniform for a long time. Black helmets, red helmets, red jerseys, black jerseys -- the Falcons looked great right up until 2003 when the Reebok disaster struck. Atlanta is ripe for a Bills-style modernization of the '66 uniforms, which are extremely popular around here(I live an hour NW of Atlanta). There's a reason they wore them at home three times. Keep the modern logo, throw in a set of red pants with the gold/white/black stripes and call it a day.

It was, unfortunately, always held by the Titans, because the NFL is super inconsistent on keeping together its legacy franchises.

I LOVE the silver helmet/pants Oilers. An awesome look for Houston in the "space age" and a team that plays in the Astrodome. Those three colors look so great together. I just happen to love the light blue helmets with white oil derrick a little bit more.

Texans uniform hints here.

It has become so disheartening to watch the Lions' uniform combinations devolve into full-on Cardinals/Commies territory. It makes me appreciate the more traditional teams even more: Packers, Bears, 49ers, Steelers, Raiders, Chiefs, Cowboys, Giants... With these teams holding steady, I still believe the NFL looks good far more than it looks bad. The Bears haven't messed around with monochrome this year, the Chiefs haven't gotten cute, and the return of all of these amazing throwbacks offsets the usual leotard and sock shenanigans.

Definitely the home uniform is my favorite of the Oilers' looks. As far as the white unis, I can see people liking the later Columbia blue numbers better than the red ones. You could make a pretty solid case that the Oilers never had a bad home uniform.
