  1. The funny thing is the NFL actually makes money in a way by players wearing the wrong socks, among other uniform violations. If the fines for uniform violations are enforced, I believe the fine payments go to charities or retired player benefits. This saves the NFL money to spend elsewhere.
  2. The franchise colors never changed, but the uniform colors did. For whatever reason, Nike seems to have trouble getting the colors right. The Eagles had to wear their white and alternate jerseys for the first half of the 2014 season because of that issue. It's also why the Bucs kept the 2014 shade of pewter when they switched back to the pre-2014 jerseys.
  3. No, but the Texans did have the same shade as each at one point. They started with Bears navy in the Reebok era and ended with Pats navy in the Nike era. I think that's what @Silver_Star meant, because I saw the same thing with the picture comparing the Texans' jerseys.
  4. I pity @TruColor when I look at some uniforms and compare the colors to what he uses on his site for the franchise colors. Just looking at this, the Texans look like they were using closer to Patriots navy than Bears navy. Could you imagine how much time it would take to create swatches for franchise colors and uniform colors for seemingly every season? I read an article yesterday on Uni-Watch about purple teams and the mismatches, and it's crazy how many there are.
  5. That's the point. I didn't like that uniform combo in large part because it had so little green and it felt shoehorned in. I'm sure I'm not alone on that. I hate the "black for black's sake" expression, but that was the best way to describe the Jets the last few years.
  6. They might. As a team changing uniforms this year, the Jets are eligible for a third helmet. But I would think they would have shown a fourth jersey with the others along with an additional helmet based on the Broncos.
  7. I wouldn't mind an updated version of the '90s Pats look. They could even add a red alternate if they wanted to. Now that Belichick AND Brady are gone, this would be a good time to leave navy behind. Maybe they'll do this next year, when they are eligible for new uniforms.
  8. Yeah, but when they switched to blue in 1993, that meant all five teams used shades of cool colors (blue or green). But if the Bill Parcells story is true, that's just sad.
  9. I'm aware of that. But I don't remember how long a team has to keep an alternate jersey. If an alternate must be kept for at least five years, the throwback cannot be discarded for two more years after this season. Also, the '80s jersey would make more sense for the Giants celebrating their history than the CR jersey.
  10. It does this year for the Giants. Next year is when a red helmet is an option.
  11. My mistake. I must have only seen the front in the video. Then I guess the CR jersey will get the boot.
  12. Red shell. So that must mean this is replacing the '80s throwback. Either that or the Giants are going to wear the regular blue helmet with that uniform.
  13. I think the primaries, especially if the Pats wear silver pants with the navy jerseys, would be better against the Rams because of the Super Bowl wins. But using the throwbacks full time starting next year is an interesting idea.
  14. I don't want the shoulders and pants changed either. I was just pointing out the pants stripes were changed to match the shoulders with the road whites in 2021, so both would have to be changed together for that to work. But as @seasaltvanilla pointed out, the Giants' nickname is Big Blue, so adding more blue wouldn't hurt.
  15. I like the blue socks idea to bookend the uniform. The sleeve change could work too, but the pant stripes would also need to be changed because they were designed to match the sleeves.
  16. Maybe for one team, but both Texas teams are doing that now. At least the Giants' uniforms are basic enough that it's not a big stretch and use the same colors. When I see the Cowboys in navy, I've had to remind myself more than once who they are.
  17. Yeah, it's part of an issue I have with the Giants' current uniforms. There's no blue on the road uniforms, and the only red on the home uniform is the pants stripe. I know that the uniforms are based on historical uniforms, but the helmet is the only thing those sets have in common. Part of me hopes the Giants make an updated version of the throwbacks with a white version. As you pointed out, gray doesn't really serve much purpose at this point.
  18. Here's a thought for the Giants with special uniforms for celebrating their 100th season. If they want to celebrate their championship game history, they can do this: Bring back the gray pants for a game or two ('07 and '11 SB champs) Keep the 1980's throwbacks ('86 and '90 SB champs) Use the 1930's throwback in place of CR (1st NFL championship game It's a shame they don't play most of the opponents for those championship runs, especially the Bears to truly replicate the '33 game.
  19. I have to admit, that made me laugh.
  20. I look at this particular point like the Oilers/Titans. If you were to say Warren Moon played for the Tennessee Titans, people would look at you like you're crazy. He is part of that franchise's history, but not part of the Titans era. Whatever baggage the Commanders' old name had, that was still the name of the team at those points in time. I especially agree about censoring history. We all know what happens if you don't learn from history, and censoring it is the best way I know to not learn from it.
  21. Did the Giants change their minds about the 1933 throwbacks? I know there was no official reveal date, but I thought yesterday was supposed to be an unveiling of the jersey as well as the patch.
  22. I say indoors personally due to the fixed roof. The turf doesn't solve the designation issue for me because of AFF and open-air stadiums that use artificial turf. But I can't call SoFi a dome because I consider a domed stadium to be completely shielded from the elements.
  23. Or use an awning. It's a covered stadium, but you can argue it's outdoor because of the openings. I believe the Mariners have a retractable roof version of this argument.
  24. I disagree. Miami Heat is better to me for a name that doesn't end in S, and using Football Team seems like the team was too lazy to come up with a real name. As a placeholder it's fine, but I wouldn't use that full time.
  25. In a way, not using any name with "red" in it may have helped Washington. If Washington used a name with "red" in it immediately, there likely would have been several slipups. Look at how long it took for people to stop saying "San Diego" Chargers. Now that a few years have passed, it may be easier to say Red-etc. without slipping up.
