  1. I'd add a couple other points to the championships. Halas and Hunt were instrumental to the NFL and the AFL, respectively. Also, they were both founders of their teams.
  2. When was the white helmet confirmed as the primary for the Broncos' new set? I don't remember seeing anything confirming that.
  3. It might also strengthen my point. The NFL may decide it wants fans to know who is playing and stick with identifiable uniforms. MLB has a similar issue with City Connect, but the NHL's Reverse Retro had uniforms similar to their primaries.
  4. A couple things to consider for those afraid of the NFL being turned into Oregon. First, imagine coming up with and producing 17 uniforms for 32 teams with 53 players each. That would cost a ton, even by Nike or NFL standards. Second, the NFL could have a policy similar to MLB's 4+City Connect for uniforms. It may not be official, but there's practicality to it. Finally, the jersey is one of the first things used to identify teams, if not the first. A different design every week would kill that. We know Oregon because that's the only team to use weekly uniforms. The mix and match potential could get ugly, but there is a limit to what the NFL and Nike can do.
  5. I hear you. Not every team will use multiple helmets, there are still use restrictions, and this may even have some positive impact. It's ironic that so many people wanting the NFL to show restraint seem to have none of their own.
  6. For throwbacks, no. Those helmets must be historically compatible with the uniforms. But for standard alternates and Color Rush, they must use one of their current colors. At least that's how I read it. For example, the 49ers could create a red helmet for their throwbacks, but the Patriots can't.
  7. I'm curious about the Color Rush uniforms with this helmet option. The CR jerseys could benefit from this because the uniforms that looked best to me were the ones that matched the helmets. There may be a positive to this. If teams create a white helmet to complete the all-white look, that look may end up being restricted to an alternate/CR status and have its use capped.
  8. If they also get gold pants, I wouldn't mind gold helmets.
  9. Here's another one: Eagles Midnight Green: primary Black: alternate Kelly Green: throwback I wonder something else: Will the use of non-primary jerseys increase now? Last I checked, it maxed out at three in the regular season.
  10. I think that's called the "yoga pants" look. I think these are the names and combos using the Bills as reference: Home: Blue, White, Blue Road: White, Blue, White Clean: White, White, Blue Unitard: Blue, Blue, White Monochrome: Blue, Blue, Blue or White, White, White Yoga Pants: Blue, White, White or White, Blue, Blue These are the basic six I think of.
  11. I'm trying to remember if there was a term for that style (jersey and pants match, but socks contrast). The term that comes to mind is unitard (uniform +leotard) or clean if the jersey and pants are white. Most of us know the jargon, but it would help to have a distinction.
  12. The main problem with monochrome is that it's been overdone. I agree with your point about the socks, in fact I may have liked Color Rush more if the socks didn't also match. When the Browns used orange socks with their CR uniforms, it was a massive improvement, especially since they provided a nice bookend with the helmets.
  13. I'm only talking about a hypothetical. Believe me, I want the new uniforms to be good.
  14. True, but they also produce a lot of phantom memorabilia for teams that lose the Super Bowl. The shirts are probably easier to produce than jerseys, but it's not unheard of to produce clothes that don't get sold.
  15. Is it possible for the NFL to reject a new design based on feedback from fans immediately after the reveal? I remember the 49ers in 1991 tried to release a new design for the helmets, and the reaction was so negative that the design was scrapped. While that was just the helmets, I would think Nike or the NFL saves the templates somewhere.
  16. If the Jets designate the black uniform as Color Rush, yes. But I don't think that works with alternates. They could probably just make the Nike mark black like the Colts and that would be sufficient.
  17. I'm curious about the Jets alternate uniforms. If they're using the Sack Exchange jersey template, which only has two colors, will the black jersey have any green anywhere? That's my big question for next week when they reveal their new(ish) uniforms.
  18. I went back and forth on the orange, but I decided on no because it's still orange and I personally like that shade. But you're right, that does still tie into the 2015 set. As for the wordmarks, I was only talking about the uniforms.
  19. The Browns have made it official with the white facemasks. The erasure of the 2015 elements of the Browns uniforms is now complete. Sources: Cleveland Browns Returning To White Facemasks, Unveiling Updated Logo On April 17 – SportsLogos.Net News
  20. I never said it was enforced correctly.
  21. Based on the previous posts, I believe it was the NFL. But I could see Nike suggesting it. Either way, the NFL had final say on the program. But now solid color socks are permitted in the NFL rulebook. The catch is that all players are required to wear their socks the same style and color. Having only one color instead of half and half would be easier for all parties involved.
  22. Fair enough. I'm just remembering the Giants when they were selecting their Color Rush uniforms. The Eleventh-Hour Hail Mary Exclusive Story of the 2016 New York Giants Color Rush Uniforms – Pro Sports Rundown Make no mistake, I'm not absolving the NFL. As you said, they could say no to the designs.
  23. There's one thing that makes me doubt it's all the NFL with the bad ideas. When I look at the Oregon football team, I can't believe the school decided to have a dozen uniforms each season. If anyone has a source, please share it. This seems like finger pointing and repeating the company line. But either way, all ties with these "focus groups" need to be cut ASAP. I can count on one hand the new uniforms or uniform elements I've liked since 2012.
  24. That could actually work, at least for the orange and navy jerseys. I guess the white jerseys could have navy skies with orange mountains for the sleeves. Just no side panels if they want the jerseys and pants to be interchangeable.
  25. This sums up the issue perfectly. It shouldn't be that hard to follow a dress code. But the dress code has to be enforced, and that's where this goes off the rails.
