  1. When the Yankees started their series in Atlanta against the Braves, they both had 9 game win streaks. The last time there was a matchup between 2 teams with win streaks of 9+ was September.... 1901. Yanks swept the Braves and took the first two in Oakland for a 13 game win streak.

    And there is this:

  2. SEC "I am inevitable!" scenario

    • SEC East: Clemson, Duke, North Carolina, NC State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia
    • SEC North: Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin
    • SEC South: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Mississippi State, Ole Miss
    • SEC West: Arkansas, LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, USC

The SEC breaks away from the NCAA and becomes a super collegiate league and a de facto minor league to the NFL. The NCAA keeps the ACC, Big 10, Pac 12 and Big 12 scraps, and those four conferences add a bevy of mid major programs such as UCF (ACC), BYU (Big 12), Cincinnati (Big Ten) and Boise State (Pac 12). The SEC schools can still schedule preseason games against NCAA schools (like Georgia-Georgia Tech, USC-UCLA or Texas-Texas Tech) to keep relationships alive. SEC games will be on the ESPN family of networks and SEC+, the new SEC and ESPN owned streaming service.

  3. Big 12 Best Case Scenario:

    • Big 12 North: Boise State, BYU, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Memphis, West Virginia
    • Big 12 South: Baylor, Houston, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, Texas Tech, UCF, USF

The new commish announces an alliance with the SEC, Mountain West, Sun Belt, and the AAC - who absorbs the CUSA. The Big 12 retains its Power 5 status and the AAC additions take full advantage of their new major status.

    Big 12 Worst Case Scenario:

    • Baylor, and West Virginia joins the ACC. Baylor joins the Atlantic division along with SMU from the AAC, West Virginia and Notre Dame joins the Coastal.
    • Kansas and ISU go to the Big 10.
    • Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas Tech join the Pac 12, which becomes the Pac 20 with the additions of Boise State, Colorado State, San Diego State and UNLV.

The Big 12 dies. Texas and OU thrives in the SEC. The ex-Big 12 members in the ACC (Baylor and West Virginia), Big 10 (Nebraska, Kansas, and Iowa State) and Pac 20 (Colorado, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, and Texas Tech) regularly schedule each other to try and recapture the Big 12 magic.

As of summer 2020, the American Athletic Office moved its HQ to Irving, TX.  Who else is in Irving, TX?

    ...The Big XII

...and one better, they're in the same damn office park.

The Atlanta Hawks introduced new uniforms for the 2007-08 season. It was also the last season for the Seattle Supersonics, so this does qualify for this thread.

1 year later: First season of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Last season of the Allen Iverson era 76ers uniforms.

  7. And to add further into the "Twin Cities" analogy @B-Rich and @bosrs1 brought up, not only are San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose; Dallas and Fort Worth; Minneapolis and Saint Paul; and Tampa and St. Petersburg in different counties, they were considered different MSAs before they merged into one (DC and Baltimore are still in different MSAs despite sharing CSAs and of course have their own media markets).

A preview of what I have up next: NCAA Realignment Madness. This involves conference mergers and a really giant NCAA future. For example, the SEC retires the "Southeastern Conference" name and goes by the....... "SEC".

    ACC-Big 10 Alliance:

    • Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, NC State, Syracuse, Wake Forest, West Virginia
    • Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Virginia Tech
    • Connecticut, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers
    • Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota State, Northwestern, Purdue, Wisconsin

    Big 12-Pac-12 Alliance:

    • Arizona, Arizona State, San Diego State, USC, UCLA, UNLV
    • Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State, Idaho, Utah, Utah State
    • California, Fresno State, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, Washington, Washington State
    • Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas Tech

    SEC Super-Conference:

    • Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, TCU, Texas A&M
    • Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Georgia State, James Madison, Liberty, Old Dominion, UCF
    • Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, USF, Vanderbilt
    • Air Force, Army, BYU, Houston, Navy, Rice, Tulane, Tulsa, UAB

Finally Completed. This was a lot of work for me!

Realignment Madness: A new NCAA series by TrueYankee26.

In 2045, the SEC keeps capturing many football titles to the point where the rest of college football can't catch up. From 2021-2040, the SEC wins all but 7 titles, with Ohio State, Notre Dame, USC, Clemson, Texas, Oklahoma and Miami winning one each. Bama, LSU, Florida and Auburn collects more championships, with even the long suffering Georgia Bulldogs and Tennessee Volunteers winning one each. The top recruits go to the SEC schools like Bama who continues to be successful as Saban leaves Tuscaloosa at the end of the 2029 season as Alabama is hit with a harsh recruiting violation going into effect, opening the door for some more archrival Auburn and LSU titles.

One year later, the Pac-12 and Big 12 announce a merger that creates a giant conference west of the Mississippi. Everybody except West Virginia Joins the PAC-12 Big-12 Alliance, the Mountaineers become members of the ACC. In 2046, the ACC and Big 10 follows suit, making a Midwest and East Coast powerhouse, and even brings Notre Dame aboard. They will not lose NBC, as the Peacock Network immediately announces a deal with the ACC Big 10 Alliance. Not to be outdone, the SEC adds Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Baylor, TCU and BYU as retaliation for the mega mergers of the PAC-12-Big 12, and the ACC-Big 10. The SEC drops "Southeastern Conference" and goes by SEC full time (much like CBS and ESPN corporately went by their initials) as a consequence because their members do not have to be in the Southeast to join anymore. A group of wealthy Ivy league grads convince the Ivy League to join the FBS.

For the next 7 years (2046-2052), only 1 SEC title (2049 LSU) and many defeats, with Notre Dame, Miami, Florida State and Penn State of the ACC-Big 10 and Texas and Oregon of the PAC-12-Big 12 capturing the titles for the two "alliance" conferences. College fans who resented the SEC dominance cheered, but through 2069, the SEC rebounds with 7 titles in 17 years.
