  1. Agreed. If you didn't tell me they were black, it would have taken me a while to pick up on it.
  2. Only quoting this because I think it's the current record holder for post with the most unique reactions (6 out of a possible 13). If there was a HOF, this would be in there for that reason alone.
  3. The score is irrelevant right now. Either the Packers or the Super Bowl Champion Apparent Philadelphia Eagles will undoubtedly get beaten by the third team rather than by their stated opponent.
  4. Eagles' black helmeet has a shiner finish IRL than in the unveilings. I think the satinish/flatish version would have been better.
  5. That's pretty good - about as good as you can do with what they gave you to work with (though the bottom corners of the 6 and 8 should probably be squared?) Regardless, and it has nothing to do with your work, IMO it wouldn't be an improvement. It's too "bulky" (kinda like the new Falcons), and the 1 is super weird. The current font is nothing to rave about (and also has a really wonky 1) but I'd prefer them keep it than go with something like this.
  6. So TO was in a CVS talking to a 49ers fan, then some guy starts talking to both of them and takes a swing at Owens outside. According to TMZ, TO was trying to be the peacemaker before having to drop the dude.
  7. So basically if it's OT in the Super Bowl, you're a receiver, and you know you aren't getting that second foot down in the end zone, you should intentionally roll and probably break your ankle so that the catch counts and your team wins. It was the right ruling, but a weird rule. A "foot" is only the bottom of the shoe and the tip of the toes - but anything on the side counts the same as a butt? Weird. Either way, good for Big Balls Doug Pederson.
  8. Uni-watch breakdown: https://uni-watch.com/2022/11/27/commanders-unveil-embarrassingly-bad-sean-taylor-memorial/
  9. Local sports blog with a video of the unveiling. It's actually worse than initially thought. Feel bad for his family - they had a right to expect a more respectful effort.
  10. I did some searching to get context on this just incase it was an overreaction, but nope - this is what they announced would be a "permanent installation" (technically, they never said "statue".) https://www.yahoo.com/now/sean-taylor-memorial-yet-another-181617083.html It's so crappy. If you look, it has a NIKE jersey with no "equipment" logo, and REEBOK pants with the logo! They put absolutory no effort into this It seriously looks like they put it together last night after some drinks. EDIT: also, I don't think he ever wore a helmet with the Riddell logo.
  11. This is silly. When they debuted, none of us (meaning people who were of a meaningful age back in '94) had seen an NFL game where the socks were solid from knee to shoe. It was a novelty, and absolutely one of the reasons that they were noteworthy. Whether the socks alone made them "great" is certainly debatable, but they were different and something really neat to see.
  12. I don't know anything about soccer, but if it's really "round robin", then the actual teams themself don't matter - they're all basically faceless - so "head-to-head" isn't a thing. It would be wins, then something else.
  13. I don't recall ever turning on a game and confusing the Lions and Cowboys, even if those photos exploit the obvious similarities. Context is important, and IMO it was always instantly obvious which team was playing. Of course, we didn't have Red Zone or internet or the ability to flip between 50 games at once, so chances are you knew exactly who was playing when you turned on the TV. But even in highlights, I don't think they were ever confusable.
  14. Not sure if this helps with anything, but according to our friend TruColor (not sure what/if he goes by now) this is the difference between early '80s and late '80s: Cunningham: KELLY GREEN PANTONE 349 C #046A38 R4 G106 B56 C85 M3 Y91 K44 Jaworski: KELLY GREEN * PANTONE 342 C * #006747 * R0 G103 B71 * C93 M4 Y75 K43
  15. White/Cunningham. Late '80s - early '90s. It's a darker shade than their previous throwbacks, and slightly darker than the Jawarski-era (but not as dark as the Packers moved to... so IDK what shade it is.)
  16. Granted they had stopped by 1994, but Buddy Ryan's Eagles wore black cleats too. I believe this is from 1990.
  17. I've yet to see any concept in which numbers that match the new wordmark don't look terrible. Too italicized. My hunch, based on past statements the team has made, is that they're unlikely to make any other alterations to the current midnight green, because they've stated (years ago, when petitioning for the one-helmet-rule to be rescinded) that they wanted to use the '80s throwbacks as a "test" for a change back to that color. That may have changed, of course, but my gut tells me that they're either currently working on a full change, or will be after this season (assuming the throwbacks are well received), and we'll see something new for the 2025 season. Not a throwback, but something new in the kellyish green / silver pallet.
  18. This was their look from when I was a kid, and from when they were one of the most intimidating teams in the league (and from when the Eagles broke their playoff-win drought with an underdog win in the Superdome.) In hindsight, the Louisiana-state patch isn't the best, nor is the shade of gold, but replace the gold with the throwback shade and this is a throwback I'd like to see periodically. I'm not sure if anyone under a certain age realizes just how tough those Saints teams were. That linebacking corps was out of this world. Even the offenses were good, despite being led by Bobby Hebert and/or Steve Walsh.
  19. Well I guess we should add this one to the pantsless-logos list:
  20. the Vikings got Jefferson because the Eagles inexplicably selected Jaelan Reager with the pick right before him, despite everyone expecting them to select Jefferson, one of their front office people walking out of the war room after the pick, and causing the Vikings war room to celebrate the eagles stupidity on live tv. Ironically, Reager is now on the Vikings after his dad (a former trash eagle) took to social media to fight with Eagles fans.
