Alphabet Man
Twenty20 Cricket is a shortened, 20-over a side cricket match played in England and South Africa and now Australia....listening to the radio last night (to a segment called 'Only in America'- American Sports) they were saying that Twenty20 has a great future and could take the game into the US market....the game goes for 3 hours as opposed to 7hr one-dayer, 4-day first class fixtures and 5-day Test matchesif it goes for 3hours would you attend and support a slog-fest? i reckon it is a great concept and could be great in the US....it would be a night games (after work and school) and last 3hrsWould you attend and support it? twitter.com/thebrainofMatt

Alphabet Man
check www.icc-cricket.com may be on US TV but that will only be the ODI's, cos Twenty20 is only domestic and wont be played at International level yet, (wait, Australia v New Zealand sometime in Feb, thatmay be on TV) twitter.com/thebrainofMatt
plattopus
Twenty20 has been played at international level a fair few times (including Aus A v Pakistan the other day)... there's no regular series', but that's only a matter of time. Schedules have already been completed for a long time into the future, but they'll start organising some Twenty20 matches now which will be a part of a team's touring duties by the end of this year or maybe a little bit later. The ICC will definitely be using it to lever themself into the US market, hoping that people will respond well to it and then move up to ODIs and Test cricket.I really hope it works. New Zealand were due to play a match against Sri Lanka but that was cancelled after the Sri lankans returned home after the Tsunami. 2011/12 WFL Champions

plattopus
has it been played at international level more than once? i didn't know that, Richie Benaud said that last nights was the first ever international Twenty20 match... It was the first held in Australia, but not the first ever. At least I think it wasn't."International" doesn't necessarily mean just between two of the Test nations... for example, an English county team playing against an international touring side is counted as an International (and I think both South Africa and West Indies have toured England with Twenty20s so far, but I'm not sure).Of course I haven't actually researched this, it's just what recollection I have of news reports and the like. They haven't, so far the only twenty 20 games played in England have been the womens international mentioned above, and games in the twenty 20 cup competition. trust me if they had happened I would know. Englands first twenty 20 international will be staged against Australi on the 13th july next year, at the Rose Bowl.Thats the Rose Bowl, Southampton, not Pasadena. 2011/12 WFL Champions

Saintsfan
Man these Amrericans will have no idea what we are talking about! I don't know waht you're talking about For those who are interested, Richie Benaud is one of the leadingf cricket commentators in the world. Sort of like I dunno, Pat Summerall and John Madden combined. (If you have played stick cricket thats a cartoon of him that comes up with comments every now and again) he is widely revered in the British Commonwealth as one of the best sports commentators in the world. 2011/12 WFL Champions
plattopus
Richie Benaud is cricket. I don't think anyone compares to him in impact on their own sport... you mentioned Madden, but I don't think he is revered nearly as much as the cricket world reveres the great Richie.Howard Cossell (sp?) provides a nice parallel. They haven't, so far the only twenty 20 games played in England have been the womens international mentioned above, and games in the twenty 20 cup competition. trust me if they had happened I would know.Fair enough mate... Loads of insight and entertaining to listen to. Richie is as wise a sports broadcaster as I know of. (Summerall) and he is able to lift out the important insights that Madden does. 2011/12 WFL Champions
-TD-
I think it will be great for the growth of the sport in the USA, one commentator said Americans can't stay interested in something for more than a day, let alone 5 days.
