Howdy folks. It seems my job in, er copying, the logo for our athletic department was a huge splash. The students and faculty love the logo, but I'm pretty bent out of shape over basically everyone getting excited over a copy job. I was able to convice the coach to work on a secondary logo, which (I hope!) is a lot more original than someone else's logo recoloured. I created two concepts, as you can see below, and was wanting to know what you guys thought. Thanks for the comments in advance.

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

i think the bottom is better than the top. by the way whats the name of the team

I can't tell if you're kidding or not. I like the top one more. It says just as much about the team as the second one, but it's more compact.

i just think the feathers on the bottom look better than the ones on top

I was talking about the second half of your post.

while i like the compact nature of the first, i had NO IDEA that those were feathers until i saw the second...find a way to make the feathers more distinctive in the first and it's solid

I had a thought: What about adding some little tears or ragged patches along the edge. Because few feathers would look perfect and symmetrical like the ones you have created.

Well, the ones on the image are the replacements for this one below. I made the newer ones above because someone suggested that they looked like leaves... <_<

I went in another direction with the secondary logo, and came up with this:

secondary.JPG

I used it for our school's athletic banquet program, which took place Friday night. I'll see what the reaction was at school tomorrow. Next up will be Spirit shirts for next year. I may open it up to the CCLSC crowd if I can convince my boss and AD of it. Only thing I can offer is a t-shirt though. ;)
