Non Profit Organization

Hey guys. Earlier this year I started a Non profit organization to help the relif efforts to stop the genocide in the Sudan. I designed the logo for the organization, pretty simple, just a map of Africa with the Sudan in red, kinda to symbolize that its a "Hot Spot". I ordered T Shirts and just got them in yesterday and im extremely impressed. they turned out head and shoulders above what I thought they were going to. Anyway, just wanted your opinion on the logo, maybe some advice for improvement when i make the next batch of T Shirts.

And just to show you how thick the print is on the Blue T Shirts. Like I said, im really impressed.

Basically, it's not bad, but not very "designed" if that makes sense. The text is unorganized and uncomposed for the most part. A little more attention and creative effort placed in the layout and treatment of the text is all it needs. Simplicity is key, and you only need a few elements for this to boldly say what you want it to say. The African silhouette and red Sudan are good elements, but I think you need to at the very least find a creative and organized way to group or align the text so it's not all over the shirt in no particular reading order.

I still don't have a website, but I have a dribbble now! http://dribbble.com/andyharry

Exactly.

Here's one way I thought you could put it together.

YASS.gif

It incorporates urgency, motion, and a sense of embracing the problem rather than attacking it.

By the way, what does "SA, USA" stand for? "South Africa, United States of America"? Because that still doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me if this is about the Sudan.

At first glance it gave me the impression that all of Africa was going down the toilet... :D

Seriously though, something along those lines might be a better look. I don't get the "SA, USA" thing either...

wow Sy, thats awesome. Ill definately try something like that in the future. I basically wanted to keep the logo simple for the most part. Its something that was created 100% by me (as it had to be, i started it for my Senoir Project). In this project I basically wanted to keep it simple because of the simple fact that, although this is a sports logos board, the logo is pretty much the least important part of this project. I started the foundation as YASS because its somewhat more catchy and easier than saying Young Adults Saving the Sudan. Although one problem im finding out, mainly with the blue shirts,is that people keep asking what YASS is when the full saying is written right next to the logo.

And yes, SA stands for South Africa. I put that there because I got the inspiration from a guy I met in New York City last summer, who was from South Africa and has done extensive relif work in the Sudan. Its basically there because it was also supposed to originally be extended for him to use in South Africa, but unfortunately I have not heard a word from him since he left for further relif efforts in the Sudan back in January.
