Its beyond me really, but who knows.That was the first way I created it, but I didn't think that text or any other content would look right with the diagonal going through the content. I think that it would look good going behind the lighter panel, to be more in the background.And this site won't open in a new window, it will be centered on the page, similar to what I have now. It's nice to see that you're trying to give your site the whole blue/orange interface to blend in with your logo. However, I think it might be worth checking out a liquid layout... By that, I mean that you shouldn't box the content on your website and allow it to breathe. This might eventually come in handy when you have bigger elements in your portfolio, and also to fill up the screen nicely on any screen resolution.Josh's comment about having the orange background is good, as it gives no apparent boundary for the website.I suggest you take a look at a great how-to I found on the net for Web 2.0: Web 2.0 how-to design style guide.
