Clippers better off.....

If anything, Brand being out of the lineup has forced the rest of the team to stop relying on him. Kaman has been on a tear so far, and hopefully when Brand does come back, Kaman will keep this trend up instead of deferring to the star.

Saying the Clippers are better off without Brand is somewhat like saying the Knicks were better without Patrick Ewing in 2000. Neither statement is true, especially since Brand is still in his prime. The Clippers will be nothing special without Brand for the long haul.

Brand can opt out at the end of the year and Maggette is pretty much gone, so if this keeps up cheapo Sterling probably will see this as an oppurtunity to win without bigtime stars if they keep it up. Or maybe a good reason to re-sign Cassel, hopefully, he really is the key to the teams success.

Maggette's wanting to opt has less to do with Sterling, but more to do with his relationship with Mike Dunleavy. As with Brand, with this injury, I can't see how he can opt after unless he wants to play for a title contender and less money. Starchild is right, the team long-term won't be much better without Brand. With Brand's injury, Dunleavy is finally forced to play let his guys play more freely instead of micro-managing. The true test will come in the second half, where the schedule is a lot tougher, both in terms of opposition and the number of road games upcoming.

However, I'm loving how this team is playing...a different player coming through every night.
